Why did God create animals in such a way where they don't reflect his nature?

I think you are forgetting that we live in a fallen world. This present world isn’t the same as before the fall. Besides, animals don’t sin as they don’t have the cognition to understand the concept. They act out of survival. We, on the other hand, have intellect. We can choose to be united to God, or united to the devil. That is our free will in action.

Did you read through my reddit posts in detail?

So you believe the whole world affected the fall including the animal world?

I see though

Oh yes, indeed. The animals were different. Adam and Eve could diddy-bop through the Garden without worrying about getting eaten by lions. Genesis 6:
And the earth was corrupted before God, and was filled with iniquity. And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth,) He said to Noah: The end of all flesh is come before me, the earth is filled with iniquity through them, and I will destroy them with the earth.
God says that “all flesh” has become corrupted, and He was sorry He made them. “All flesh” implies animals as well as people, and the animals were not spared from the flood.

I see idk about that, is there any official church stances on this whole issue. Please pray i would find a statisfactory answer to this problem if anything…I am having trouble with it…I hope for more posters to answer as well.

Well, how about the Catechism? Here’s what it says about the fall of Adam and Eve and how it changed the world:
Scripture portrays the tragic consequences of this first disobedience. Adam and Eve immediately lose the grace of original holiness. They become afraid of the God of whom they have conceived a distorted image - that of a God jealous of his prerogatives.

The harmony in which they had found themselves, thanks to original justice, is now destroyed: the control of the soul’s spiritual faculties over the body is shattered; the union of man and woman becomes subject to tensions, their relations henceforth marked by lust and domination. Harmony with creation is broken: visible creation has become alien and hostile to man. Because of man, creation is now subject “to its bondage to decay”. Finally, the consequence explicitly foretold for this disobedience will come true: man will “return to the ground”, for out of it he was taken. Death makes its entrance into human history.
Here is how Genesis describes it:
“…cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth to you…”
Harmony with nature was broken, nature became hostile, the plants became hostile (“thorns and thistles”). Even the the ground was cursed! Everything changed after the fall. God did not make this fallen world. People made it, and the devil is “the ruler of this world.”

I see but the world isn’t fully evil though correct? Even paul says God made the world to be enjoyed, so even if the world has some evil in it it has some good in it as well right?

Idk I get what you mean but partly it sounds somewhat Gnostic?

If you can telling me explicitly what gnostic means in this context would be nice too. Since i know only limitedly what it means.

Thank you very much

Is not God reflected in many facets of the universe He created?
Is there not some reflection of the goodness of God in the joy in which some animals welcome their owner, and sometimes put themselves between their human and danger?
Is there also not something o God’s goodness in the extraordinary degree of care of many species young ones,
an extreme example being how father king penguins weather long periods of protecting the egg, then the chick whiles they stand and shuffle in the most extreme frozen conditions, hungry, waiting for their mates to bring food?

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p3s2c2a7.htm

2416 Animals are God’s creatures. He surrounds them with his providential care. By their mere existence they bless him and give him glory.197 Thus men owe them kindness. We should recall the gentleness with which saints like St. Francis of Assisi or St. Philip Neri treated animals.

It was a gnostic belief that the material world (everything physical, including our bodies) was created by Satan and is inherently evil, but the spirit world (angels, our souls) was created by God and is good.

The world has good and evil in it now, but it is a corrupt world, full of death and decay and sin and violence. The original world God made was perfect, not corrupted. Someday it will be perfect again.

But how could satan go so far as to change the biology of animals and humans who were once perfect in every way. Maybe God and satan had a bet? idk lol.

I guess the conclusion then is the world is both good and evil so things are somewhat gnostic just not fully.

I appreciate all the help and how nobody is trying to condemn me.

But if the world changed after the fall including animals…how was it like before…did the biology for of reflect the creator at that point…while after it didn’t?

Some of our biology doesn’t reflect the creator in some ways…another user elaborates on how EVERYTHING was changed after the fall…

It just makes me wonder is all.

Another thing though it sorta makes me wonder BoomerangToo how does evolution fit into all this?

Like wasn’t the earth created in more than 6 days?

Maybe satan corrupted stuff before the fall as well?

What makes you think that animals don’t reflect the nature of God or His glory in any way?
What makes you think animals are sinful?
And why do you have our Lord’s name as your username to post articles merely to provoke the very people who do honor His name?

-They do, just not in certain ways
-Look in my reddit posts in the description of one of them.
-What? I don’t? I am just trying to get something answered that i am struggling with? Plus why is it your concern, maybe I am not there yet in life.

Not all animals, such as fish, just what moved upon the earth.

Genesis 7
21 And all flesh was destroyed that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beasts, and of all creeping things that creep upon the earth: and all men. 22 And all things wherein there is the breath of life on the earth, died. 23 And he destroyed all the substance that was upon the earth, from man to beast, and the creeping things and fowls of the air: and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noe only remained, and they that were with him in the ark. 24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.

But if anything our biology sometimes doesn’t seem to reflect the creator which leads me to think that maybe it changed from the fall? I would give examples of what I mean but i don’t feel like thinking right now, just try to get the main point of what I mean…

Umm, idk can you just go on there and look at everything and come back? It is a lot of work and honestly I don’t feel like doing that right now…

No, its Marco, I just used this username just because its what came to mind.

I don’t know, I kinda feel really down about this whole bs question, i tend to doubt a lot and it drives me sick sometimes…I mean who wouldn’t question stuff like this then again, really makes me consider just having no religion since its so much drama.

Reflect as in, reflect his morality, even if what they do is without culpability the act itself still raises eyebrows at least for me.

I do go to mass once a week and sometimes more…I am sorta Catholic, just in a rough patch right now…I hope I find a conclusion soon, or that this suffering ends soon or whatever.

St Thomas Aquinas uses Aristotle’s conception of the soul to teach us about the difference
between humans and animals
  1. Vegetative soul - all living things have this in common, nurishment is taken in and
the ability to reproduce is present
  2. Animated soul - All animals have this in addition to the vegetative soul. The ability
to move as well as 2 appetites
Concupisible appetite is the attraction to things which give physical
pleasure, food drink, sex etc …
Irascible appetite is the repulsiveness of things which can harm us
    i.e. the instinct to survive
  3. Rational soul - only found in humans, consisting in the will and the ability to reason
St Thomas further teaches that the world is good, that evil is the absence of goodness. This
is consistent with the Fall, and how the relationship of man to his surroundings, not to mention
God, was forever changed

Marco, there are so many beautiful things in the natural world, so many beautiful places, and many beautiful animals
There are so many beautiful flowers , and lovely birds. Nature is not all bad, Marco, there is much goodness and beauty.

Just some experiences of my own.
Every day, I see the most beautiful birds called Rainbow Lorikeets,
They are purple, blue. red, yellow, and green, and always sound so happy. They sip nectar from flowering bushes and trees, chattering happily to each other. They leap across the sky joyfully in pairs or families, calling to each other, so cheerfully.

My son is caring for a rescue German Shepherd who had a tough early life and spins, so my son distracts her or steps in her spin path to stop the spinning, and his other Shepherd, watching him do that, steps in her way as soon as she begins spinning, and as a result, she is recovering. He wants to help.

I came out one morning to find one of my son’s goldfish on the floor almost dead. and so weak.
I picked the little creature up and put it back in the tank.
It floated upside down but made no attempt to swim.
So you know what it’s companion did?
It swam under the dying fish and swam it around and around until it revived.
Could you have imagined that a fish would care so much about its companion, that it would actively work to revive it?
I could tell you many more stories, and so could other people.
There is beauty and goodness in nature. Marco
