Why did God create animals in such a way where they don't reflect his nature?

I see but i don’t think its man’s fault that aside from the fall that animals do this type of stuff that we would consider a sin.

Idk, I think a few people understand my point, others don’t and maybe answer the question indirectly.

Which is okay. Just pray for me if you can.
There is natural, preternatural, and supernatural. So God gives supernatural and preternatural gifts to Adam and Eve, but then they lost original justice which includes the supernatural and preternatural gifts. Although the preternatural gifts are lost to mankind (at least until the resurrection), the supernatural gifts are available through the sacraments. Of course the creatures other than angels and mankind cannot receive supernatural gifts, so do not have the aid to behave more perfectly.

Still doesn’t make sense about why God would create something that didn’t reflect who he was…In this case I am talking about animals…I mean some otters rape seals, did God create the seals that way?

People usually imply that since animals sometimes do this; God would have to be some type of monster to create something that did something like this.

I sorta agree at some points along this argument if anything.

Animals should reflect the divine in all way possible even in the case of the otter vs seals argument.

What a Bizarre Question ,
They Don’t reflect Gods nature because they act on survival , Eat or be Eaten, humanity gets into the same Mould once in a War time situation,
Kill or be killed , life can be savage,
A young lady was Raped not far from our house on her way home from the Gym , Why did this young man do such a dreadful act ?
Was it the Devil that had influenced over his mind and body ? Nope ,

I know that… it seems like you don’t understand.

I believe everything God creates should fully reflect who he is, soul or not.

I don’t get why its bizzare…many people have asked this probably…It makes me wonder why God creates things like this thats all.

Like instead of survival of the fittest he could have created something that reflected who he was more closely.

Animal or not.

I don’t know theology well enough to see that but personally i believe God should program things to act similarlly to how he acts.

For example, animals should have been created in such a way where they didn’t have to rape to fulfill sexual desires. If that makes sense.

The whole reason I am even afraid of this is because of the fact I believe God’s creation reflects who he is as a being…since his creation seems to not fully reflect who he is but instead reflect what we would call sin…I believe God may be similar to some pantheistic God and be both good and evil.

This is obviously a doubt and not what I truly believe.

I know many people such as Vico may try to answer this from a theological viewpoint but I don’t think that is possible. In other words try not to use TOO MUCH theology to answer this question. It may or may not apply here.

Then all living creatures would have to be rational creatures:
  • Animal
  • Plant
  • Fungal
  • Protista (eukaryotes that are not plants, animals, or fungi)
  • Bacterial
  • Archaeal
And perhaps non living:
  • Vira

No I am talking in a thoelogical sense at all though…

Like all this talk of rational vs animal vs vegitative souls has no grapeling here.

True rational souls were made in the image of God.

But I personally believe (even though its not in the bible) that all of creation outside of humanity should reflect who God is as well.

Maybe not totally because at that point nature would need to have free will…But instead i believe nature should reflect God insomuch that it should act similarly to God without having free will/reason of course.

I am only weirded out that God would create something that would rape and act homosexual when God clearly isn’t like those things at all.

Again I know the bible says that only we are made in the image and likeness of God. But I personally believe nature itself should reflect God as well, minus the free will/reason part of it though. Nature should naturally act morally good. Instead of naturally homosexual or rape ridden.

What I mean by nature is anything outside of humanity.

People do all those things, too! People rape, steal, kill, lie and cheat and here we are, made in the image of God! By making animals act in a moral manner, God would be elevating animals to a level higher than even His own people, who were created in His likeness. Why should brute nature be a better reflection of God than we are?

Well in theory it could be said that maybe we were moral as well but the fall made us less moral if anything. Assuming the fall only affected us.

So i mean it could me said that at the end of time we will be back to our original nature? Which by default will put us above animals because of our morality, reason and logic.

I mean certain galaxies transpire us in beauty does that mean that they are superior than us? No, we are special because God says we are special, we are beings made to be almost exactly like him.

I mean God could have also written the bible differently as well to fit with this type of worldview i impose here, so you never know.

Just curious, Jesus. Is there some deep down reason why this question bothers you so much? About animal behavior, I mean. Does it make you lose faith? Does it make you think God has multiple personalities and made an incomprehensible world that does not match His personality?

As I said above

This is why I am scared.

But to extend the answer more I think yes it makes me lose my faith a little because the animal world doesn’t seem to match who he is at all…in fact many would say the pantheistic view of God matches who God is a little bit more. Where it is said that God is the universe therefore God is both good and evil.

It seems like the creation should reflect the creator.

The animal world doesn’t reflect who he is … I mean you could say the fall made everything like this but this viewpoint isn’t compatible with evolution. I mean it could be but i haven’t thought of it in depth yet.

nature itself should reflect God as well, minus the free will/reason
Psalm 103

1 For David himself. Bless the Lord, O my soul: O Lord my God, thou art exceedingly great. Thou hast put on praise and beauty:
2 And art clothed with light as with a garment. Who stretchest out the heaven like a pavilion:
3 Who coverest the higher rooms thereof with water. Who makest the clouds thy chariot: who walkest upon the wings of the winds.

31 May the glory of the Lord endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.

I am not saying nature should be equal to God, it should just reflect who he is more closely.

None of us knows Gods intentions and needs to the extent we can speculate why certain things have been allowed in the animal kingdom.

Sometimes I think the animals deserve to go to heaven before some of us humans.
Consider they fulfill their purpose perfectly and in a sense obey God’s will for them.
They do not “sin” and , in the case of our pets , give unconditional love.
I wish I were the person my cats think I am.

Maybe they don’t reflect God’s nature
I think they do but sin distorts our vision while also having affected all creation on earth.

If we think of life on this planet since the beginning, it appears to have grown, proliferated in countless ways. It has done so because life gives itself to itself. While each creature would have its individual soul, they are all temporary manifestations of life, which has flowered and which we as eternal beings were meant to tend.

Our selfishness has brought death upon ourselves. It feels unnatural that we who exist here and now, should ever cease to be here and now. We project that onto our fellow creatures and see that as abhorrent in spite of the reality that they are merely temporal. Life surrenders itself to itself, which does actually reflect God’s nature.

It gets more complicated when we speak of the consequences of our original sin on all creation. What we do changes things not only on a superficial level, but I’m going to assert, on the basic structure of reality. I see a even scientific basis to this, but I don’t want to get into it. We have changed the nature of this garden we were made to tend.

In a universe created and held in God’s love, there is something very wrong here. Sin has changed our perception and gone further to bring suffering into the world. All creation, through us as it’s crown, seeks communion with its Maker. I think it was Vico above who quoted the Catechism that this is a journey.
