no one said being poor is a crime, but it is generally a result of low education, poor work ethic, bad habits, bad choices, etc.

in the city for a short time
So after reading your posts lets see if I can discern why you, an agnostic, come to CAF:

You seek affirmation is you non belief by obseving our ignorance and stupidity in embracing a superstition that is only 2000 years old and is underpinned by child molesting Priests. You arent sure if there is a god but if there is he lives in the Northeast. You arent sure there is a devil but if there is he lives in the South.

Does that pretty much sum it up?

hmmm … perhaps. You should change your screen name to Sigmund_Freud 😛

What hopelessly wrong position are you refering to? And why can’t I ask you questions?
it’s not that I mind questions … it’s just that so many personal questions directed at me seems odd? As for what hopelessly wrong position, do I really need to answer that question?

oops, one caveat. I’m sure there’s no devil (and that religion, and hence a “god” in the way you couch it, is untrue).

I can’t speak for anyone else, but personally I drop into CAF every so often to see if I can get a handle on what Catholics and Christians believe and why they believe.

Josie, you seem to think that such an understanding is impossible unless one is prepared to actually agree with these beliefs. That, I certainly don’t understand. Surely you don;t reject the beliefs of Protestants and (say) Hindu’s without understanding them - do you?

I am not interested in undermining anyone’s faith, or ridiculing their believes, for the sheer heck of it. But this is a forum where non-Catholics and Catholics can discuss each other’s beliefs, isn’t it? I have just had at least two people tell me that I will “burn in Hell” because I do not believe in a god. By contrast, me just saying that think all religious belief is, in the end, myth and superstition seems to be rather mild.

As for having an open mind - believing any old stuff you read on the internet is not being open minded…

I have been told I am going to burn in hell for holding hands at the Our Father

I apologize for whatever brother or sister told you that you will “burn in hell.” There will be “karma” for that, no doubt. Sorry, I was speaking from the “New Age” side of my mouth, …eerrr Buddhist…

Yes, we can all be civil here!!! And jokes are OK as long as they are clean and pressed…

And I have high hopes that josie and yankee will become inseparable friends…

They’re not personal questions I just asked whether you were living in NY at the time of the attack? And moreover “hopelessly” is a word I would refrain from using because you have no sure way of knowing I’m wrong, you can only surmise based on your opinions that are limited in scope.
