Why do Baptists Bash Catholics?

I believe some non-Catholics react to us in negative ways because of our Apostolic Faith…the revelation of Jesus passed on down through Christ’s Church these past 2000 years. They resent being told that during the reformation new doctrines and interpretations were wrongly developed by man apart from the revelation of Christ.

In my humble opinion, much of what divides these thousands of Churches today are peoples personal interpretation of the Scriptures. They do not have a central teaching Authority and most have only their current Pastor as their authority.If they do not agree they go off in different directions looking for the answers.
We in the Apostolic Church have the Magisteriam , the teaching authority of the Church.
The Apostolic Church holds the Deposit of Faith. Revelation ended with the death of St John. We have the full Truth and that is a truth some in the Protestant Church resent us saying and Bashes us about it, if you want to use that term.Peace, Carlan

I think you’re correct, though it really seems odd that they’d be resentful of us for that reason. My inlaws are a good example of Baptists who aren’t happy with their church. They rarely go anymore and I imagine they’d change churches except that they live in a small town and I think theirs is the only Baptist chruch around.

I never took it so far, i always took it as the last final and only word that has been inspired by God… i mean i have read books that support the bible teaching but every time that i read a book i compared its spirit against the bible and i have found that some were void of the feel/spirit/God (call it what you will) or simply tried to teach something else…

The Church…the People of God, the Faithful, the Chosen People, etc… precede the Bible. The Christian faith (and God, for that matter) is not solely reliant on the Bible.

Well in a way you did and a way you didn’t let me explain. If I am understanding you correctly you Are saying if it is not written in the bible you don’t believe it to come from God right. Is that what you are saying?

as for the infant baptism vs. adult baptism, i checked out my church’s articles of faith and every example of scripture they cited explaining the practice of adult baptism is an example of adults being baptized in the Bible. just a few examples i found:
matt 3:6; acts 2:38 (here is where i can see where catholics may find the baptism of a person essential to their salvation/admittance into heaven, but again, its adults being baptized because of the order to “repent” as an infant lacks the ability to understand and repent of sins); Acts 8:12 (women and men baptized, no children mentioned, but that of course doesn’t exclude the possibility that perhaps children just weren’t present at the time. but the “they believed” seems to be an essential pre-requisite to baptism that infants are incapable of.)

please don’t take any offense to any of this, i was just trying to answer some questions. all for the sake of exploring and examining the Bible and different faiths. and i’m by no means saying this is the correct interpretation, or that your interpretation of these or other verses is wrong. i’m not very well versed in the specific beliefs of the catholic church, so i’d love to find out more and the scripture that you base your beliefs on, if that’s possible?
