It values writings too much and some doubt that Scripture is the absolute Truth given by God Himself. genesis isn’t really real and Revelation has nothing to do with Israel. God, that is so wrong. It elelvates man’s writings and de-values God’s Written Word.
If a Catholic denies that Scripture is authoritative, then they stand against a facet of Catholic doctrine. Remember that Catholics are not Fundamentalists though, so we do not necessarily need to go for the literalistic interpretation of Scripture. Remember that Sacred Tradition is also equally authoritative and the Church, the Magesterium, is authoritative as well. To deny that the Magesterium or Sacred Tradition is on par with Scripture is heresy.
So, for real understanding of Scripture I am forced to look beyond the priests and the catechism. But if I want the best of the best, Holy Eucharist, I look to my cradle church and Mass.
Well, as long as you are staying within the bounds of Catholic doctrine, then it is okay, but if you are going beyond the bound of Catholic doctrine, then that is heresy.
But God will never be able to call me lukewarm and spue me from His mouth. That is a given.
You’re assuming lukewarmness is the only serious sin out there. Heresy is also a serious sin. I strongly recommend you read some of the documents of the Council of Trent, as well as some of the older Catechisms (i.e. the Catechism of St. Pius X and the Catechism of the Council of Trent).
To argue that the Catholic Church’s teachings on faith and morals is somehow incomplete and needs to augmented by Non-Catholic falsehood is heresy indeed.
