Why do Catholics play the role of victim so much?

I don’t want to speak for the OP but he has a point.

Consider the titles of some of these threads:

“Why Do Orthodox Hate Catholics So Much”
(hate???)
“John Hagee=Extreme Anti-Catholic”
(Extreme???)
“Why So Much Hatred By Non-Catholic Christians”
(Hatred???)
“Why Do Baptists Hate Catholics”
(Hate???}

Meanwhile there was the recent thread
“Are Protestants Christians”

Now I would have expected a thread in response to this one
“Why Do Catholics Hate Protestants So Much” but haven’t seen any.

Anyway, my :twocents:
my point exactly.

I think your perception is colored by your own bias. Why is it that you think Catholics play the role of victim? Give me a concrete example, please.

Peace,
-Robert
The very names of threads here in this forum. Accusing people of one particular denomination of hating Catholics, blaming the media in the child sex abuse scandal (how pathetic). The whole victim thing is pathetic.

Other Xian groups work very hard at saying that hate Catholicism but love Catholics.

If they knew anything about Catholicism, they would know that you can’t divide the two.

If they hate Catholicism, the Catholic Church, they hate Catholics. The Church is the people, and the people are the Church.

Again, it’s ignorance.

I concede that some of it is but not all of it.

Using this logic, if you hate homosexuality you hate gays.
Judge: Catholic Position Against Homosexual Adoption Justifies Government Hostility Towards Church

SAN FRANCISCO, April 23, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In its brief filed last week with the U. S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Thomas More Law Center urged the court to reverse a federal judge’s ruling that an anti-Catholic resolution of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors was constitutionally justified because the Church opposed adoptions by homosexual couples. District Judge Marilyn Hall Patel, a President Carter appointee and one-time counsel for the National Organization for Women (NOW), ruled that the Board resolution condemning Catholic moral teaching on homosexuality and urging the Archbishop of San Francisco and Catholic Charities of San Francisco to defy Church directives does not violate the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution

No. The Church is the people. Therefore if you hate the Church you hate the people that make it up.

Homosexuals do not make up the sexual orientation.

If you really are the one true church that Christ founded, then why do you give a hoot what anyone else thinks of you? It amazes me the extent some of you will go to play the victim’s role.
We are people with flesh, blood and feelings just like anyone else!😉

I really do not give tuppence what anyone thinks of me, much less so their opinions of my non-materialist lifestyle. But I DO CARE what folk say about my beloved Church. Yes she might well have the protection of Almighty God against the gates of hell Mat15:19, but I still love her very much. In fact it is fair to say that I not only love her, I am ‘in-love’ with her, her Sacred Ministries and most of all her Blessed Sacrament which is Christ Himself.

So, like anyone in love, I get hurt when I hear her slandered, spoken all manner of culumny and detraction, lies and insults.

Blessings and peace

I didn’t slander the RCC. i simply said that some of its members are making it out to be a victim. I didn’t say anything derrogatory about you loving your church. i wish more folks loved their church the way you love yours and I love mine.

I’ll go one further than that:
If you hate the Catholic Church - the logical conclusion is that you hate Jesus.

Acts 9:4-5:

**He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?" **
He said, “Who are you, sir?” The reply came, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

Jesus and his Church are ONE.

Luke 10:16:
"Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."

And just how does this equate to Roman Catholocism???

Jesus established ONE Church - the Catholic Church, which has been shown and proved on this forum ad nauseum.
Read Matt: 16:16-19, Matt 18:15-18, John 17, the Early Church Fathers.

That said - when you persecute his Church you persecute HIM.

can you show me just exactly where it speaks of that one Church to be the Catholic church?

Jesus established the Catholic Church. We are the ONLY Church that can trace ourselves back to Jesus. Many, if not most prominent and respected Protestant theologians today concede that fact. They do, however say that we lost the faith and the Reformers saved it which is ludicrous and contradictory to what Jesus promised in Matt. 16:18 – “And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” **

Ignatius of Antioch, who sat at the feet of the Apostle John said - not more than 75 years after Jesus ascended into heaven:
"Follow your bishop, every one of you, as obediently as Jesus Christ followed the Father. Obey your clergy too as you would the apostles; give your deacons the same reverence that you would to a command of God. Make sure that no step affecting the Church is ever taken by anyone without the bishop’s sanction. The sole Eucharist you should consider valid is one that is celebrated by the bishop himself, or by some person authorized by him. Where the bishop is to be seen, there let all his people be; just as, wherever Jesus Christ is present, there is the Catholic Church" (Letter to the Smyrneans 8:2 [A.D. 110]).

Who started YOUR church, SIA?

With all respect here, you have proven nothing. My church comes from Jesus Christ and that my friend I will stake my soul and the souls of my family upon. I have seen with my own two faith filled eyes the workings of God. i have also seen the Scriptures in action. I have experienced Christ present in the Eucharist. I have witnessed impossible situations remedied and folks healed. My church is most certainly from Jesus Christ and so is my priest.
