Okay…you are not in the pulpit right now.
Would you (pretty please with sugar on top) answer the question?
Are you asking for a personal story ? This is one example…A co worker that became my boss i still see his saint Christopher medal around his neck in my minds eye…Was about the worst drunk I knew…Had two dui wrecks in a short time…Sleep around…His name was brought up for prayer at our work bible study all the time.Had the foulest mouth, he wasn’t the only one…I was pretty open about sharing Christ and he and the unsaved boss over him were like my built in persecution…Mocking ect…Made fun of , didn’t hang out/support “regular” christians…I’ll say no more.

Straight out of Chick, Hiskid?
Hey that quote about “born again” every week when I get the Eucharist…was made by an actual living breathing Catholic … As for Chick it was one of his booklet with scripture about being born anew that the Holy Spirit us to bring about my pretty radical conversion experience.
A pretty blonde at the office gave it to me…

I guess since HisKids green ‘online’ light is off, I am not going to get an answer.
Don’t feel bad. When I young I also used to speak hastlily too. Fortunately I had people around me who would always challenge me, and as I aged I learned to pepper my words carefully.
Now, here is truth of the matter HK, you and I have NEVER met anyone who goes to confession friday night so they can raise Cain Saturday night, The Catholics who sin willfully, I can guarentee never darken a confessional booth let alone a Church.
I’m back…I open the garage door for my beloved and get the mail…

The chick track given me was nothing about anything Catholic…I know that he is anathama here…Every group has those luke warm…My first examples of catholics was not good at all.
I met some fine catholic christians later on and now…

I’ve have also been curious why a Protestant would bother to go to church, so I do appreciate your answers.
What I do find odd about your answers is your need to tell Catholics what they believe, and why they practice what they practice, as part of your answer. It can blur the distinction between a rant against Catholicism or an answer to the question. Your description of Catholicism is not very accurate for someone who claims to have been Catholic, so answering what you believe and only what you believe would help us understand why you go to church on Sunday.
Ok but let me please ask you this. Isn’t the main part of mass the Eucharist?
Liturgy of the Eucharust (prepaaration of tge gifts) “Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given and human hands have made.”
“Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hande. It will become our spiritual drink.”
Pray over the gifts. Preface Acclamation, Concluding Acclamation, Communion Rite (the Lords prayer), Rite of Peace, Breaking of the Bread, Asking forgivness ( Lord I am not worthy to receive you but only say the word and I shall be healed. The receiving of his body and blood, Prayer after Communion. (This is the main part of mass, the Eucharist is what you go to mass for correct?)

Now when you confess your sins you go to a priest and confess to him correct?

If you miss mass isn’t is considered a sin? Yes if you don’t have a good reason, such as illness…

This is why I mentioned celebrating his death. There are several times when there is something mentioned about his death.
“…Before he was given up to death a death he freely accepted.”
“Let us proclaim the mystery of faith. Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again.”
Dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life…When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclain you death Lord Jesus until you come again.
“In memory of his death and resurrction…”
“…Fore our sake he opened his arms on the cross.

In order to understand ones beliefs or their religions, sometimes its good to compare the difference between them.

As I have said many, many, times here on the CAF I have nothing against Catholics or what they believe. I just don’t agree with some of them.

I hope this helps with my not so accurate discription of Catholicism by someone who claims, let me make this correction, who was, a Catholic.

So, you know for a FACT this guy went to confession on Saturday, so he could live like the Devil the rest of the week…Did he actually say this to you? Are you an eyewitness to his confessing/heck raising?
Or does all you have to go on is a St Christopher medal?

Good thing he wore that St. Cheristopher medal or he might have been killed before he got a chance to make a GOOD confession:eek:

What were his words exactly?
Those weren’t from that that particular guy…I just gave you one story…Those were exact words
were from another catholic in talking about Jesus and having a born anew discussion…I had powerful conversion experience where my life radically changed…I know that is is a real life changing experience…A coworker druggie friend of mine had a radical conversion the same year…Our office co workers were amazed as we started telling them about our born anew experience…

HK, would you please answer the above?

That person didn’t say those exact words…It’s all talking the talk and walking the talk…What I said except that “born anew taking eucharist” statement is a compilation of many walking the walk-talking the talk conversations…People can say one thing but their life story reveals another…What I never could understand was how someone could have a life changing born anew conversion and someone called a catholic christian would make fun of/deride…I experienced that…

Hiskid, you do know that if one does not have a firm purpose of amentment when he goes to confession, his sins are not forgiven? Now suppose when that person confesses, he really is determined to amend his life and not sin again, then he falls.
Should he not be forgiven again?

The Bible tells us that even a just man sins seven times a day.
How much harder is it for one who is not “just” to lead a moral sinless life?

Suppose one is an alcoholic and confesses his drunkeness and really intends not to drink again, are they not “born anew” until the devil tempts them and they fall again?

Offtopic sidenote: as a former office manager, if I ever saw anyone doing that in an office when they should have been working, they would have been fired on the spot.

Wow that’s a shame…I did an excellent job at that position…They still have bible studies at that company as I am still on the prayer chain from there…They still have a bible study…My reputation there was well know and a christian in the corporate office allowed to to start a bible study in another on of their office buildings…The only time I got called on the carpet was putting up a poster about abortion…My boss allowed me to pray and encourage other believers
even tho he was ungodly and mocked me…When I let to go into mission they threw a big party
for me and gave me a gift and a generous check they collected…

Your right…I worked there for 25 years…I could a lot of stories of lives lived opposite the way they talked the talk…Like a peyton place…Wasn’t just those who called themselves catholic christians…It just had a large concentration of itialian catholics…

I guess it depends on the area…You probably have eaten the product from the company I worked. There is a large group of believers there today that donate alot to local ministries…Jack chicks earlier tract were very good…I’ve actually have had people ask for them…I used a few of the older ones…I use what is called “have a good day” tracts today.

Guess I better stop…get way off track…

I just took it that if we don’t participate in the way you believe/participate your eucharist, they is no reason to gather…We all live by faith in Christ’s words…Just we don’t believe your way doesn’t mean we don’t believe at all…
