Why do Orthodox hate Catholics so much?

Yes, you should.

Don’t allow yourself to be mistaken on this point. Although that may not have been the original intent of the Orthodox bishops who came into communion with Rome, today the Supreme Pontiff and his Magisterium insist that you accept or otherwise embrace all Latin Catholic theological constructs. You are not required to understand them, but you must accept them as true.

This includes (but not necessarily limited to) the Filioque, Purgatory, the Immaculate Conception, Papal Universal Jurisdiction and Papal Infallibility.

Any deviation on these extra dogmas, but especially the last two, are grounds for excommunication latae sententae.

If that is true about the Filioque, then why is “and the Son” not included in the creed spoken in the Ruthenian church?

The Filioque was still recited in the first Ruthenian Catholic Church I attended seven years ago (when I was still in communion with Rome). But most of the Ruthenian Catholic Churches did not recite it (although it was printed in the pew books in parenthesis). The new 2007 reformed divine liturgy has removed it from the pew books. However, as a Church in communion with Rome, you must still accept that the Creed is proper with or without the Filioque.
 
An interesting resource for understanding this point on the Filioque is Allatea Sunt. I don’t have a link at present, I use a hard copy. It should be traceable through Google.

You will see that the bishops of Rome have, at different times held differing policies on requiring recitation of the Filioque.

For the “Greeks” the bishops of Rome usually only insisted on recitation of the Filioque when there was some doubt as to whether the population as a whole accepted it. This was the case in Crete, where Uniatism was the law for a time.

In those areas where it was taken for granted that the “Greeks” accepted the validity of the doctrine, the recitation was not always required by Rome. (On the other hand, at that point the local bishops sometimes decided to insert the Filioque anyway.) The Ruthenians used to recite the Filioque, now they are not required to.

Interestingly, the Armenians were required to recite the Filioque simply because it was believed that they would not vigorously resist it. A different standard entirely from that applied to the “Greeks”.

My understanding is that Eastern Catholics must accept the filioque as non-heretical, but are not at all required to add it to the creed. Just as they must accept the IC as non-heretical, but in Eastern Theology, it’s something of a non-issue given the Eastern approach to original sin.

The EO in this forum does seem to be hate Catholics, especially one EO who has been debating with me.

That is hurtful.
On the contrary Manny. I have stated more times than I can count, that I love my Latin/Eastern Catholic brothers and sisters. I have many family and friends in the Catholic Church. It is the Church that nourished me and led me to Holy Orthodoxy and I will always cherish that. I defend the Holy Orthodox Church and Her beliefs, but that should not be misconstrued as some type of hate! That is a terrible and uncharitable thing to say! 😦

By the way–I love my protestant brothers and sisters also! 🙂

I cause no division. I defend my faith. I am setting forth some of the basic differences between the Latin Catholic Church and Holy Orthodoxy.

Then why not follow your Patriarchs and promote unity instead of disunity.

I really don’t think Mickey or Hesychios hate Catholics. I have met EOs that do, but these two gentlemen do not. They both have the zeal of converts. BUT, they are almost always charitable and I believe they do NOT disdain theird years as Catholics.
