Its alright! Thanks for the warm welcome! Honestly I’m alright now, most of this stuff ended nearly ten years ago, but I really appreciate it💖

Many don’t understand the Catholic faith. If they knew Church teachings inside out, they wouldn’t leave. For years Church teachings have been watered down in schools and education. Christ made it clear when He instituted His church I wish they knew the true faith.

i come from a large family and the one’s who have left the Church either wanted to remarry after divorce, or because of the sex scandal

I would suggest that an important reason for leaving the Church was Humanae Vitae, the Church’s views on women and the Church’s views on sex, e.g. IVF.

Most Catholics do not believe sex outside marriage condemns one to hell for eternity, and neither does missing Sunday Mass without good reason.

More Catholics vote Democrat than Republican, but do they feel supported by the Church?

Pew surveys often give insight.

How can Catholics respond? Perhaps being supportive, non-judgmental, after all we all sin, welcoming and practicing the virtues of love, kindness, peace, tolerance and generosity.

Praying for each other is important.

Maybe but some people do not agree with the Church’s teaching on contraception for married couples who already have four children. It is not that easy to raise a large family with the high cost of housing, clothing, automobiles, medical care, education, and all the other things that children and teenagers see that their friends have. Some E. Orthodox priests will allow a married couple with four children, facing financial difficulties to use artificial birth control. From what i read, there are some Catholics who ignore the teaching on artificial birth control and go to communion anyway. However there are other Catholics who are troubled by staying in a Church which does not allow this, when there are other churches which say it would be acceptable for them. And there are even Catholic clergy in Germany who apparently do not agree with the Catholic teaching on this. So. there are a few Catholic families that will enroll in another church.
i do know a man who left the Church because his wife was granted an annulment after 15 years of marriage and several children. There was no problem for fourteen years and the marriage was going smoothly. However, because he had a large family to support, he took on another job and was away at night. The wife complained but did nothing to help out financially. There were bills to pay as his wife was spending too much money. Anyway, since the husband was away on many evenings, working at his second job, the wife decided to have a little fun, i.e., be unfaithful to the marriage. She then went for the divorce and applied and got her annulment, with the husband paying all the lawyer’s bills. The husband had gone into the marriage with the understanding that this would be a lifelong situation as divorce was not allowed by the Catholic Church. Well, he was in for a big surprise when the Church gave the wife the annulment, officially declaring the first marriage null and void, and she got remarried in the Catholic Church. Unlike his wife, he had been faithful to his marriage vows. He did not like this at all, and he left the Church, never to return at least up to now.

I know that…

And that neither makes Church Teaching Wrong,
nor counters the truism that Satan/AntiChristians -
are very very active - both without and within the Church…

Hi @aitapyh I agree with your reply… only b/c I CHOOSE to
remain in the One, Holy, Catholic(universal), Apostolic Church
that Jesus SAYS He will build upon Peter, the Rock!!
As you acknowledge, the Church is made up of humans, in-
cluding THE POPE… Recently I saw a documentary on Pope
Francis called “A Man of His Word”, it is a very moving story
about this Servant of servants who humbly washes the feet
of Prisoners and kisses the dying and blesses the children!!
However, I DO NOT agree with some of his views, esp. on the
danger of Proselytizing, about which I take the GREAT COMM-
ISSION, in which Jesus TOLD us to “Go and make disciples of
ALL Nations baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit.” and as a confirmation of this edict He
precedes this command w/ “All power in heaven and on earth
is given to Me(and not the Pope)”!! Matt. 28:18ff

Much of what you are seeing hitting the two countries such as Italy and China have, are and will persecute the True Believers.
Why is it that the coronavirus will persecute true Believers and not false believers?
