I don’t know how it is in America, but in Europe there are almost only whitehaired people in many Catholic Churches, and wherever there are some young people, there are 5 young women for every young man. I know it sounds unreal but every normal decent Catholic man here will have at least a few Catholic ladies looking at him wishing secretly he wasn’t so passive. Passivity seems to a widespread malady among Christian men. And then there are those you hardly see. They are clearly smart but they hide behind a screen and dont go out meeting real women. We can only wonder how they live their chastity with so much calm. Then there are young men who are plain odd. Social ackward, with weird ticks, or who say untasteful or immature things when they open their mouths. Eg. I went on a date with a proper young man… after a while he started talking about a girl he had dated before mentioning she was fat and had been with other men before, so he dumped her.

Im sure to this day he didn’t comprehend why I didn’t find him attractive as a gentleman. Another one was weeping all the time when we spoke, like a hormonal lady, all the time moved by something, and then proposing marriage to me after we had only known each other for a very short time. I could not feel safe with such a man.
I have been in love with a few… Good looking guys who appeared to be on top of things, some of them were Christians and some not… But what always came out eventually during the dating period was their psychological or emotional problems, their inability to function in productive life, their trauma from childhood which made them paralysed in the things that belong to commitment and work. Some were substance abusers, some had major rage problems, almost all of them were halfway homeless or unable to work full time. Most had had agressive, absent or cheating fathers or mothers, and couldn’t get out of the woundedness of that. They were all jealous kind of people. I know I have been pretty unlucky perhaps, but really… Im not kidding. The other day I found my self in a packed Catholic Church for a certain conference. I saw only 2 guys under the age of 35. One was my married family member. The other was a seminarian.
Tell me whats a girl to do? In fact I know many seminarians, but no marriageble men who are not in some way odd or emotionally crippled. All the while I have family members saying I am too picky because I don’t want a non-Christian man. And I don’t even demand that the gentleman be Catholic.
If I couldn’t laugh at the whole situation I might go crazy
