Protestant denigration of Mary is also a symptom of a darker side of their man-made ideology.

Please note that in 1931, the dominant Protestant organizations enthusiastically endorsed eugenecist Margaret Sanger in establishing her abortion mills.

The Mary-hatred is a symptom of a far greater danger in their false ideology.

You are just being rude, no one is saying that us protestants should go to your churches to do property damage.
Thou shall not bear false witness.

I posted just 1 link. A quick search on Google for Church statue vandalism yielded 70,000 results.

70,000 results.

What a disgrace.

Daniel Marsh:
God is not located inside the Ark, in fact God is shown to be located above the Ark thus claiming Mary as the Ark of God does not work typology wise.

You are just reading something into scripture that is not there.

😉
That is just your own personal opinion. Plus, I think you are reading something into what I said that is simply not there. When did I ever say that God was in the ark? When did I say that Mary was the “ark” of God? She is the mother of God, but not the “ark” of God. God needs no ark, but it was his will to come to us in the flesh and to be born of a woman. For someone who thinks it impossible to see anything in that is not spelled out in excruciating detail and written totally verbatim, you sure are reading an awful lot into what I am saying.

What if I told you that the your belief in the Trinity is reading something into scripture that is simply not there? Show me the word Trinity in the Bible. It never explains that verbatim, yet you accept that, don’t you. However, it does refer to Mary as “blessed” several times. Yet that’s hazy, debateable, and unclear. :whacky: My agenda alarm goes, “ping”.

I don’t know if you missed it but I asked you these questions earlier:
So are you saying that the OT is not in fact a blueprint for the NT, or do you just pick and choose what you like to hear? How is it simply not there? Do you accept any of the types of the OT? If so, why do you choose to see some and ignore others?
I’ll add one more. You say you only get out of text what supports your tradition. What makes you think your traditions are any better than our Traditions?

I’ll also ask you the same questions I gave Singingbeauty:
You DO believe in private interpretation of the Bible, don’t you? That a person could read scripture and be personally lead by the Holy Spirit to understand it. If that is the case, can you declare the Church WRONG! Just because your own private interpretation doesn’t agree with the Catholic Church? Furthermore, how can you declare me WRONG! Just because my private interpretation just happens to be the same as the Catholic Churches‘?

This is not righteous anger but a deep seeded chip on the shoulder that I think you need to deal with my friend. If you continue to hate those who love God it will affect your relationship with Him.
Sorry friend, it’s righteous anger. If I have a chip on my shoulder than it’s the chip that was left there after years of being Protestant!

And my relationship with God I’m sure is so much more the stronger with Him than it would be for you - since I am devoted to His Mother, as He commanded us to be from His Cross! It is the Protestant who denies Christ Mother the veneration and love She deserves as the Mother of God who will one day mourn not loving Her in their lifetime.

And am I playing God? All I know is this. Protestants are filled with pride, and pride is the first deadly sin. It is pride which keeps the Protestant from opening their hearts to the one truth that is Christ’s Church; the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

It was “pride” that caused the fall of Adam and Eve. If Protestants, who are so filled with this same pride believe that they will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven just because they claim themselves “saved” - and without the help of the sacraments Christ institued in His Church for our salvation, along with good works and faith -I know for a fact that trying to obtain heaven while being stained with the filthy horror of the sin of pride won’t get any Protestant anywhere near the gates of heaven. I don’t need to think I’m God to know this. It’s simple fact and of course, common sense.

I revised this posts too late, so I am posting it again with the revisions…
Sorry friend, it’s righteous anger. If I have a chip on my shoulder than it’s the chip that was left there after years of being Protestant! But thank the good Lord for His Sacrament of Confession, where I can go week after week to be absolved from my own sin of anger and sometimes, pride! Something which you as a Protestant, walk around with on your soul making you appear to God all your life as some sort of grotesque monster.

And my relationship with God I’m sure is so much more the stronger with Him than it would be for you - since I am devoted to His Mother, as He commanded us to be from His Cross! And am I playing God? All I know is this. Protestants are filled with pride, and pride is the first deadly sin. This is the curse and legacy handed down from Luther to all his followers. It is pride which keeps the Protestant from opening their hearts to the one truth that is Christ’s Church; the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

You deny that there are catholics who claim that Mary is the Ark of God?

I listed several scriptures that prove beyond doubt that God was considered to be above the Ark, and that is personal opinion?

interresting 🙂

Protestants are full of pride, yet we have a Catholic claiming And my relationship with God I’m sure is so much more the stronger with Him than it would be for you

If that is not a prideful statement, I do not know what is.

As for smashing statues, your lack of knowledge of the practice of fellow Christians betrays you. Just look at the alters of these Lutheran churches, and then tell me that we “smash statues”.

As for anyone’s chip on her shoulder for years of being protestant, perhaps she should read what this protestant had to say about Mary:

Sheeeeesh, people, get your facts straight before you tell me I am going to hell.

Catholics don’t claim Mary to be the “Ark of God”! And we don’t “claim” anything. It’s, once again, common sense and an open heart to see quite clearly that Mary is the “New Ark of the Covenant”. catholic.com/thisrock/1991/9112fea1.asp

The OT Ark of the Covenant carried the WORD of God on stone inside the Ark - while Mary, carried the WORD of God IN FLESH, inside her own body - thus making her, the New Ark of the Covenant.

And it also seems to me that this thread is not off topic, but that you are deliberately trying to take it off topic to close it.

Google doesn’t lie, my friend.

70,000 hits on the query “Church statue vandalism”

Unless you feel the statues smashed themselves?

His Word was located inside the Ark. In the New Testament the Word became flesh and dwelt within the new Ark- Mary.

I’ve never heard the term “Ark of God” only “Ark of the New Covenant”. The Church teaches nothing beyond that. Mary is the mother of Jesus who is God, AND the fulfillment of the Old Covenant, AND the one who established the New Covenant. Thus Mary is the ark with which the New Covenant, through Christ, was contained and brought fourth. Christ is above the New Covenant He established with the Apostles in the same way He is above the old covenant He established with Moses, which was contained within the Ark.

So do you “think” the thread should be closed, or do you only hope it will be closed? 😃

You again?
No dearest. It’s not a prideful statement. It’s simple fact. The Catholic Church is the one true Church of Christ, instituted by Christ with all it’s sacraments to assist us in our salvation. The Protestant “church” is a religion that came about through descension of a disgruntled Catholic Monk - 1500 years after the institution of the Catholic Church. Let’s not forget this ok? The Protestant church is no better than say, Jehovah Witness founder, Charles Taze or the Mormons founder, Joseph Smith, or the Islam religion, founded by Mohammad. None of these are from God, but from men. Sinful men whose pride and hatred formed religions.

I think you should get the facts straight before entering and becoming a member of a Catholic Forum - to which I find quite interesting. The only reason why a Lutheran would be on a Catholic website would be because they feel quite drawn to learning the truth and nothing more.

I know that I myself would not be logging onto Protestant websites and becoming a member if you paid me. The aggrevation in having to deal with that opposition would be too much for me - I’d constantly be in Confession. It just wouldn’t be worth it. Which is why I question any Protestants on this forum. They are searching and by God’s grace, they will be converted in God’s own time to the Catholic Church! It’s only a matter of time.

My prayers and well wishes are with you all. I applaud the fact that you are secretly searching in your hearts to come to know the fullness of Christs’ Church. This being the grace of God.

I’m tired of this constant opposition from Protestants on a Catholic Forum. Therefore, I care no more to be bickering with you about anything. What I’ve said is enough and quite honestly, has been said over and over again by multiple Catholics throughout this forum. It need be said no more. So best of all things to you all in your journey in converting to the Catholic Church!

I can’t help it that you want to sweep the dirty secret under the carpet.

When you follow the 70,000 links from Google that I found, it turns out that the perpetrators are both protestant Mary-haters and radical Islamic militants.

Interesting.

Google does not lie, but it does not tell us much either. I can type in “Catholics Jewish Holocaust” and make all sorts of outrageous conclusions about Catholics killing Jews. Lets get serious.

Yes, I am sure that in the last 500 years, people have smashed statues of Mary. This tells us nothing about the doctrine of any denomination. Why do you conclude that the responsible parties are practicing members of any Protestant religion?

Further, guilt by association is a dangerous debate tactic. Shall I point out that 47% of Catholics (59% of Latino Catholics) voted for Kerry, and then conclude that the Catholic Church is pro-Choice?
pewforum.org/publications/surveys/postelection.pdf

53% of Catholics voted for Bill Clinton in 1996.
americamagazine.org/reese/america/a-96el2.htm
I found that out using Google. It does not lie. Yep. Pro-choice. Blue dress. Says a lot about the Catholic Church doesn’t it.

I typed in “catholics holocaust” in Google, and got 595,000 responses in .06 seconds. I guess that makes Catholics 8 times more likely to be geneocidal than protestants to be statue smashers. Yes, indeed, Google does not lie.

I typed in “pro-choice catholics” and got 924,000 links in .21 seconds. This would explain the votes for Bill Clinton.

How about this: “area 51 faked moon landing” gets 594,000 hits in .19 seconds. I knew it! Protestants hate Mary.

Are you sure you want to pursue this?

Remember, there are protestants who come here and are probably drawn by the Mary topics, and it might shake their faith to see the details.

Your choice.

Whoa! Holy cats people! Kick back for a sec and maybe all take a breath here and get the heart rates back under control while the air clears of some of the rhetoric and misunderstanding.

The concept of Mary as Ark of the New Covenant is tied to her Immaculate Conception. My thoughts on this have always been that if the mere box that carried the tablets of the old covenant had to be pure and were so holy that to touch it was to be struck dead, then just how much more pure and holy would the woman have to be who carried within her the Son of God and was charged with the nurture and protection of Him until His time came? I believe that God did a unique thing in the case of the Blessed Virgin and that although it is a mystery of Christian faith (Definition: NOT something that cannot be understood, but something that cannot be understood completely.) and the fact that St. John refers to Christ as “the Lamb, which was slain from the beginning of the world.” means that God applied that sacrifice to Mary in a preemptive way, foreknowing that she would offer her “fiat”. (Much the way SinginBeauty commented about how she would have!)

Our Marian devotion is all Christocentric, in spite of the wild romanticisms that some folks use to express it. I think that it’s imperative to hear what the Catholic Church teaches about the Blessed Virgin and regardless of what anyone else says, go no further. In that there should be ample space for our friends like SB and DM to find common ground and (at least) better understanding.

My own Marian devotion and in fact consecration to the Blessed Mother (since it was through her that I was drawn back to Christ and into the church! I am Militia Immaculata.) is constantly deepening my committment to Our Lord and to the spread of the gospel wherever I go. The truth is that all devotion to the saints has that very same purpose. To deepen our commitment to faithfully following Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It has no other purpose in the Catholic faith, and it never will.

Ark of the New Covenant

His face stiffened, and his eyes narrowed to slits. Until now the Calvary Chapel pastor had been calm as he “shared the gospel” with me, but when I mentioned my belief in Mary’s Immaculate Conception, his attitude changed.

“The problem with you Roman Catholics,” he said, thin forefinger stabbing the air a few inches from my face, “is that you’ve added extra baggage to the gospel. How can you call yourselves Christians when you cling to unbiblical traditions like the Immaculate Conception? It’s not in the Bible–it was invented by the Roman Catholic system in 1854. Besides, Mary couldn’t have been sinless, only God is sinless. If she were without sin she would be God!”

At least the minister got the date right, 1854 being the year Pope Pius IX infallibly defined the doctrine of Mary’s Immaculate Conception, but that’s as far as his accuracy went. His reaction was typical of Evangelicals. He was adamant that the Catholic emphasis on Mary’s sinlessness was an unbearable affront to the unique holiness of God, especially as manifested in Jesus Christ.

Pax vobiscum,
