Why don't the Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons knock on my door?

Hi GoLatin, if you visit their website and request a visit they’ll come.

Also, it is possible that they visited the previous owner of your home and marked it, not to visit.

If you have a white picket fence for example, look on the hinged side for a white tact in the post.

When I lived in an appartment with purple doors they would place tacts in the top right of the door, hinged side to warn their people not to visit that apartment. So, I removed the tact that they put in my door and placed those same colored tacts on all my neighbors doors in my building.

Now, some homes like my own are permently marked by them not to visit on their field maps because I have met them in public debate before, and they say that I am demon possessed.
 
Hi, I wonder if my experinces with mormons and JWs is unusual. I’ve lived in my new home for about 8 months now. So far there have been 6 mormons and 2 JWs who have knocked on my door. I always love sharing my faith with them and they come back for more talks, it’s always a different pair. Maybe they repeat visit a couple times then they send new ones. Why is that? Sometimes I think I being used as some sorta training tool. Like this is what catholics believe and how we can use it to over advantage. I dont know. And it’s not just where I live now.This has happened in other places that I have lived. The JWs and Mormons alike do the same thing. It has definitely help me grow in my faith and love it completely. I feel very blessed to be catholic.

Same here, but some advice if you want them to knock on your door.

Call them. You won’t have to give them your address. They will ask for it.

I did this once when I was trying to get some information for a friend that was thinking of converting “back” to her childhood religion of JW.

They came over el pronto.

Maybe they have a database of residences and the last resident proved to be rather un-helpful

Why not ring them and invite them over?
 
2 weeks ago, I was visited by JW’s. Last week Mormons came. I had to use every ounce of self-control not to laugh. I’ve always joked about mormons, (yes, i’m a bad boy) and they just came up one day. I was left in a daze for several days afterwards. Trauma, maybe???
 
I’m still not a very good defender of my faith, but it has been a very long time since either a JW or a Mormon has come to my house. Must’ve been the time I gave the Mormons a tract of “Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth” - and when I left to run errands minutes later, I spied out of the corner of my eye the two of them looking at the book intensely!

Dumb luck.

I’ve never had any missionaries from either of those denominations ever knock on my door either, I’ve lived in a half dozen different residences over the past 30 years. One of my past residences, in Allegheny Center, was on the lot of a former world HQ of the JW’s, they still didn’t show.

Actually - I had Catholics knock on my door last year! They were from the Legions of Mary and they were inviting people to their parish…gave us nifty little brochures and a bulletin!

I told them thank you and how nice it was to see Catholics coming around!

I’ve seen Mormons come to my house about 4 or 5 times, I just like debating with them. Nice folk, unfortunately their church is stuffed.

I’ve only met 1 Jehovah’s witness at my door, and about 3 handing out stuff on street corners, why do the missionaries always seem to be older men? And why do they always give you Watchtowers from the 1980s? Don’t they have any new ones anymore

Most of the JWs that have come to my door have been middle-aged women, usually one black, one white. I argue with them, though. I never invite them in, but keep them standing on the porch and insist that they argue with me. When they make moves to leave, I position myself in their exit route and keep on arguing. In short, I make their day a living hell. I’m certain that that is why they haven’t knocked on my door in over 5 years. I see them wandering my street, but they just pass me by. Ah… blessed peace and quiet.

As for the Mormons, I’m not sure about them. I can’t recall ever getting a visit from a Mormon team at my current address. Now, I’ve had a Mormon girlfriend/fiance for several years, and this might have something to do with it, I don’t know. She has made the break from Mormonism as of a few months ago, though hasn’t yet resigned in writing. The Mormon part of her family is undoubtedly upset, because she has taken to wearing a crucifix around her neck, and is often seen carrying books like “Mormon Enigma: Emma Hale Smith”. So, I kind of expect to get some visits soon. I sure hope so. I’m ready for 'em.
 
My husband always tells them to come back when I am home. He tells them I would “love to speak to them” and they come back…when I am home…he is so mean He likes to see me angry! He knows I don’t like that!! Any (name removed by moderator)ut on “paybacks” to him for that would be great if you have any ideas.👍
 
Most of the time my home owners association is far too restrictive, the residents are far too much in everyone’s business about dogs, cars and stucco and trim colors, but the no solicitation sign on the main entrances keeps out all the door to door salesmen, be it magazines, vacuums or religions. Though, once I had a JW come to my door and I told them we weren’t interested and they didn’t try to stay.Though, now that I think about it, we get Watchtowers in our newspaper boxes. We have our mailboxes in the circle of our cul-de-sac and under each mail box is a slot for newsletters, newspapers and those pesky solicitations.

After I graduated college, I lived with my parents for a few months until I moved to Boston. During that time, the JWs came 3 times. Once was a woman that worked for my mom. (Note: she refused to participate in office Christmas parties, but she had no qualms about taking a Christmas bonus!) The second were a man and a woman trying to tell me that we were evil for living in a rich neighborhood (ok, that’s not EXACTLY what they said, but it was implied in the force of their message. I took the Watchtowers because I enjoy reading them). A few weeks later, they returned, and my grandmother told them to go away.

We’ve never had Mormons come by, but we have had MUSLIMS drop off tracts before.

The only Protestants that have come by was during my reconversion from atheism when I visited a Baptist church. A lady came over and brought me chips and dip as a conversation starter.

PS: I’ve only received recent magazines from the JWs. The oldest ones might be 2 years old. Now, I find them all the time at the laundry mat, fast-food restaurants, or on the subway.

I seem to recall a Jeff Foxworthy joke that was like that…to keep the JW’s away, just draw a chalk outline of a body on your porch and throw some pamphlets on the ground, they’ll think they’ve already come by…
 
I saw a video years ago, of an Islamic preacher who illustrated the condemning Islamic view of those who believe God has a Son.
They believe that such an idea is an insult to God (Allah). He even went so far as to say that it is an insulting “animalistic” sexual thing to suggest that God had a Son.
And, when Christians find this out, it is so unbelievable.
Because, you know, that we believe that it was a miracle, that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and not of an “animalistic” sexual nature.
So, how many Muslims still believe that Christians believe that?
This is going to take a lot of patience and Bible doctrine to lay it all out plainly before Muslims.
I hope that this makes an impression, to say the least.

And, it should be noted that the Mormons believe (since 1827) that God the Father is a man, who came down to have sex with Mary for the conception of Jesus.
The Mormon Church is a cult, indeed.
Maybe, they are partly to blame.
