I don’t think we can stop him. He was ranked as the highest Angel!
Yes we can. Jesus is Victor! Jesus is God. Second Person of the Blessed Trinity! He suffered and died, and rose, and has shown us how to enter the victory!

Well from your angle, that might seem correct, but from my angle - no. He’s still just an angel, not God.
How could you beat Satan when he can influence you easily. You cannot even notice it. I am talking about my own experiences with Satan, we have no chance against him.

The more we follow our Lord Jesus Christ in His victory, all the more satan is vanquished.

Jesus Christ is Lord, and He is Victor!

And in following in the footsteps of the Blessed Virgin, Jesus’ Mother, satan flees!

One of the things we are taught with regard to satan’s fall is that he didn’t like how humans are made in Gods image and likeness, satan couldn’t handle this fact.

If you have the time and are interested in delving into this deeper than what you know already, you should consider reading the CCC paragraphs in the 300’s.

At least 395. But from about 340ish gives some interesting info and context.

Also, Job 1 has a little back forth with God and satan.

But surely, satan’s influence is only that, influence. He has no power to make our decisions for us. Once that is recognized, using the gifts God has provided will, not might, will help a struggling person find the upper hand in the fight.

Those gifte start with baptism and follow through the sacraments. Someone mentioned in another thread I think, that God is far away. That was sad to read, he knows our nature well and works in it through what can hit our senses.

He is not far.

Take care,

Mike

Satan was responsible for cheating of Adam and Eve which resulted in fall of human. He also is responsible for all crime around the Glob. So why God doesn’t stop him?
A better question is why would an all knowing God create him in the first place? He has caused nothing but trouble for the human race. Can you imagine God setting around before he created the angels knowing full well the consequence of his actions, deciding to create an angel who would rebel, create weak humans who would follow this rebellious creature, end up in Hell for all eternity. And say to himself, what a great idea! This makes God look like some bumbling fumbling bored Nero who decides what a great idea it would be to burn Rome. It is fantasy tales like this that makes me question the very existence of a God, a devil, angels, etc. God has done way too many things throughout the bible that makes him look more and more like a deranged human than the all wise loving father we are told he really is.

Oh boy, I am sorry you feel that way, that explains a lot about you. We have the armor of God against him. God is much much much much (ad infinity) stronger than Satan.

God created you too. You have the free will to turn against God if you choose, (which it seem you are). So did Satan. Or don’t you believe in free will?

That’s what I was trying to get at with my snake in the basement example earlier. It makes no sense to set the world up this way if you’re in control of everything.

If God were to suddenly put an end to our inclination towards evil, the world simply could not sustain itself. Imagine all the pain and suffering that would result. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of sin, but Satan must rule for a bit longer. It’s beyond our awareness, but we are all sinners living in this world.

Why would there be suffering if people had no inclination towards evil?

Our world would fall apart. It’s the worldly pleasures that the evil inclination desires, and without this drive there would be no worldly ambition, economic progress, or even procreation.

What about native peoples? They lived in harmony with God’s world. I agree that this modern world is very money-driven, power- hungry, and evil, but it is possible for mankind to live in harmony with the earth. It would be GOOD if this modern world fell apart in my opinion. Let’s start the kingdom of God all over again.

You and I may have different definitions of evil. I would say evil (which is not a useful term imo) is deliborate unnecessary harm caused to another. This is a bit vague but it allows for different circumstances.
