O come on, cry more. Religions evolve as do all things in the universe.

Everyone started out as a Pagan thats fine. (For those of you who dont know your lovely God had a wife and many kids in his earliest incarnations. All of the Pagan religions in the area are shootoffs of him).

You get one crazy group that thinks its different and destroys religious tolerance
They wipe out their predecessor
And now they rule the world.

Dont worry folks, the story aint over! Given the direction of society this new trend may end soon! Gracias a secularization and education, ppl are turning away from Christianity, Islam and Judaism and being more moderate. Give it enough time and youll have an apathy for religion

My friends, Nihilism is the ‘religion’ of the future! Get use to it:p
Weren’t anarchism and nihilism the religion of the future back around the end of the 1800s or so? What do you think has happened in over 100 years to make them any more likely to become popular today?

mm Nihilism is very strong these days. its just most dont know they are and instead call themselves agnostic, atheist, and sometimes buddhist or even Christian (thou they are non-practising). It never died out, but continues. Anywhere that has gotten better education and a more democratic gov’t has began to shy away from religion.

Cant wait for the day we can look back on Christianity and Islam and say, “Haha our crazy ancestors fought over the silliest things. Holy war? lol they actually fought over who had the better invisible friend.”

PS. If your wondering why the other 3 major religions arnt there, it is because I pretty confident theyll continue to exist as theyve always have:)

You believe this will happen in your lifetime? According to your beliefs, you won’t exist beyond your physical death, so I was wondering what the time-frame you are imagining for the death of Christianity and Islam to take place is since you are planning to look back on that day.

Wind is “invisible”, too. Does that mean it doesn’t exist? Because I can feel it and see the effects of its presence in the world. Does being able to see something determine whether or not it exists?

Well I don’t hate pagans but I do hate paganism, because it’s evil.
Call it what you want but slaughtering human being to some force of nature is just plain evil. Human sacrifice have been a custom in almost all pagan religions from the Vikings to the Aztec.

Thank God it’s over, and that we do not have to live in fear anymore, God loves us, that’s why He came down to earth, being born of the Virgin and suffering for us.
And He rose again and acsended to heaven, He sent His Spirit and He will come again to gather us in His kingdom of peace.

O by no means do I expect this to happen in my life-time. But I do predict it will happening. Either the church and Islam completely modernized and let go of some of their more dated practises/beliefs, or theyll simply bleed to death. As to weather it will officially die I cannot say. Both religions have modernized somewhat. Christianity (at least the pope and some other higher ups) are much more willing to strike an understanding with rival religions as opposed to its previous actions of simply deeming them evil. The church has also liberalized its understanding its scriptures allowing for a much more flexable understanding and for it to achieve coevil with science.
Islam (in the west at least) has become much more moderate to the point where you have some groups rejecting Shariah and some feminist groups with it.

Will this be enough? Only time will tell. As for Nihilism as religion of the future, I guess I should clarify, nihilism ultimately is a means to achieve a deeper understanding. By doing away with bias’, prejudices, misconceptions, essentially constructed universals, will one be able to see the world for what it really is and its potential.

A move towards Nihilism has allowed the changes mentioned and who knows, this may lead to both religions florishing and really giving up 1400yr old feud and co-exist, or they will ultimately wipe each other out.

I can relate to what you are saying here. I look forward to the day that the God-less Soviet Empire will be thrown into the trash bin of failed ideologies, and the people of Eastern Europe will have the freedom to reclaim their Christian heritage and reject the dated belief in Communism. Some day I predict the Russian people will be free from the tyranny that forces them to renounce their faith in God and to again have the freedom to choose to worship Him. Either the Soviet Union will modernize and let go of some of their more dated practices/beliefs, or they’ll simply bleed to death. Wait, that did happen. 😉

Thats nice, but it has nothing to do with the evolution of religion. Perhaps you misunderstood my response as it seems you took it for a normative vaue instead of the fact intended.

I was discussing the evolution of empty ideologies. I predict that in their nothingness, they will fade into nothingness. 🙂 I shook my magic 8 ball and asked it if Christianity will bleed to death and it said, “No”. So, you must be wrong.

Yes, and isn’t it ironic that Christianity is based on an innocent being slaughtered for the sins of the many. And your weekly sacrafice of the Mass is to join again in that sacrafice that exists beyond time and eat and drink the flesh of your savior.

I’m glad that religions have done away with human sacrafice.

erm…sorry but didn’t the church burn people or torture them to death so to force them to confess a guilt they didn’t have? old women, young women, girls, even children…beaten, tortured, raped, and then burnt. In some sense this can be seen as a sacrifice too. And to my eyes this is as bad a mistake. And as horrible. Thank Goodness this is over indeed.

My, what an intelligent response.

Is it even worth pointing out that Christ was executed as a criminal? The Romans certainly didn’t intend to “slaughter him for the sins of many”. Furthermore, unlike most religions that resort to human sacrifice, Christ had a choice and he willingly died.

Our God doesn’t require human sacrifice. But He willingly sacrificed himself for us. How many religions can say that?

I wasn’t being sarcastic. I was serious. Christ was human. That is an important factor, that Christ was fully human as well as fully God. No matter the intent of the Romans, Christ was a sacrafice to God to atone for sin. Required by God himself.

There is no getting around that, nor is it something to explain away or be ashamed of. It is what is. The very symbol of Christianity is the cross on which Christ sacraficed his life.

I do not know that much about other religions and if or when their human sacrafice was voluntary and when it was forced, so I cannot comment on them.

So, are Catholics going to hell too? By any chance, is Catholicism the “most dangerous cult”?

RETURNING TO THE TOPIC OF THE THREAD . . .Now that I have your attention, I’ll stop shouting.
And why are they so anti-feminine? What transpired during the Axial Age which turned man against woman and instead of recognizing her as the bearer of Life they had to reduce her to a second-class citizen ‘at best’ and a piece of property ‘or worse’?

Why?
** The Christian Bible very beautifully describes how Christ is the Husband and the Church is the Bride. The original greek word for church is ekklesia - “a calling out”; hence “the called” of God. It is feminine gender 100% of the time it is used.

I believe non-christian men, in the name of god, throughout history loved Ephesians 5:22 "Wives should be subordinate to their husbands ". At that point, they closed their Bibles and began abusing their women.

The proper context is as follows:

Ephesians 5:

21
Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22
Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.
23
For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the church, he himself the savior of the body.
24
As the church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything.
25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her
26
to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,
27
that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
28
So (also) husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29
For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church,
30
because we are members of his body.
31
“For this reason a man shall leave (his) father and (his) mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
32
This is a great mystery, but I speak in reference to Christ and the church.
33
In any case, each one of you should love his wife as himself, and the wife should respect her husband.**

I wish I were a “second-class citizen”, then I would be Queen of Heaven, like Our Lady, Mary.

If anything, Catholicism has always raised women on high, as it speaks of in the Bible, as the above poster quoted. We have always believed that treating women, or anyone, as an object as being gravely sinful. And, you should not judge a faith by those who fail to live up to what it teaches, but judge it by those who have excelled in it… namely, the Saints, which there have been plenty of female ones.

It is funny that many modern feminists, who constantly fight for the “equality” of women with men, have succeeded… but, to their dismay, their “paradise” is full single mothers where the responsible father feels no need to stay with the woman… pornography, where women are turned into tools to be used by business and lustful men… and, the greatest travesty, abortion, where a woman’s greatest prize, the world’s greatest gift, life, can be blotted out because it might hinder a career, or the baby is an “accident”.

The Church has always fought against these evils, and lifted women on high has images of God, equal with men in all things… yet different. Equality does not mean 2 + 2 = 2 + 2, it can mean 1+3 = 5 -1.

Anyhow, sorry for my rant, but subjects like these always get me a bit hot under the head… and I have red hair to boot! =)

God Bless you, and may Christ’s love always serve as a light in your darkest moments.

.
well…I personally judge a faith by a few things:

by the principles and teachings of the faith itself;

by those who have failed to follow these teachings;

by those who have excelled in it.

I think it’s very important always to look at both sides of the coin.😉
