Actually, I was an acolyte for over 10 years, a layreader, subdeacon, and an Aspirant to the Priesthood before I left.
Unlike some *other *Anglicans, I can use proper grammar.![]()

Sounds like Ramsey or Whittlesea. Have I named the location?I lived in East Anglia for 6 years just North of Huntingdon but before Peterborough.
I lived in Ely for a while. East Anglia is better beyond tthe fens though..I have some fond memories there.
Wow! Even during Cromwellās time? Whoodda thunk?Sounds like Ramsey or Whittlesea. Have I named the location.
Peterboroughās a dump but the cathedral is nice. Itās where Kathrine of Aragon is buried.
Sheās had flowers put on her gracve every day since she was buried.

Jesus is God, therefore we worship him and he most certainly came in the flesh. So does that mean people were wrong to worship Jesus? Since they would be worshiping mere flesh as well as God the Son?
Fair enough.I posted that scripture because you wanted proof for the Beatific Vision, I did not intend to prove the veneration of Saints with it.
No.When Jesus sent the apostles to forgive sins, was that a trick to prevent people from confessing to God directly?
Nobody said āStatue of Baal please pray for meā either.Maybe you saw people praying near statues and assumed that the statues were the target of their prayers? :ehh: Never have I heard anyone say, āStatue of Mary, please pray for me.ā Have you?
450+ posts later no question has been answered. This person is NOT a new member-he/she has 450+posts so Iām quite sure that he/she has seen Catholic apologetics on each subject that he/she is ranting about. In my opinion this person has no interest in discerning the truth or listening to Catholic explanations of the Faith but is only interested in telling us what we REALLY believe in.And itās aaaaallllllll wrong. The original shotgun-style rant is something I would expect(and understand) from someone absolutely new to this website and who had no exposure to Catholic Answers-this person simply will not listen.
2000 years of Church History and teaching of the same is in both.Hello
As an American convert to catholicism (swam the tiber) from high church anglicanism I can appreciate the tenets of both.
Thatās interestring.I also hope all catholics would know about the āanglican useā mass and would attend the Mass at least once in their lifetime.
Whatās the treaty of Tordesilla?Of course if catholics (especially U.S. Catholics) knew about Guy Fawkes and the Treaty of Tordesilla that would always be a help in understanding the Catholic-Anglican political dispute - apart from the theological one.

Itās not my fault Americans speak such an archaic form of English.Unlike some *other *Anglicans, I can use proper grammar.![]()

Yes and Cromwell was born in Ely and was member of parliament for HuntingdonWow! Even during Cromwellās time? Whoodda thunk?
Iāve been to Huntingdon and seen the stone on a building that said Cromwell was born there. And as much as I like Ely. I always thought he was born in Huntingdon. I lived in Alconbury for 6 years. Not far from John Majors house.Yes and Cromwell was born in Ely and was member of parliament for Huntingdon
Cromwell was also a compete and utter Ā£$āĀ£%Ā£$^ā$.![]()
Could be. I know a person from the Netherlands who can certainly type English well. Heās RC.Iām English by name as well as language.Itās not my fault you have a tell tale foriegn accent. The Dutch can speak better English than you can.
And that is that anyway to speak of the Lord Protector?Yes and Cromwell was born in Ely and was member of parliament for Huntingdon
Cromwell was also a compete and utter Ā£$āĀ£%Ā£$^ā$.![]()
Both Ely and Huntingdon claim he was their son.Iāve been to Huntingdon and seen the stone on a building that said Cromwell was born there. And as much as I like Ely. I always thought he was born in Huntingdon. I lived in Alconbury for 6 years. Not far from John Majors house.
Iām a Monarchist who likes ale.And that is that anyway to speak of the Lord Protector?![]()
There seems to be more wood panels in it if I remember correctly.I had friends who lived in Ramsey and yes Peterborough is a dump but no more than some other places the cathedral is nice I saw the opera Daniel and the three young men there. The place is more musty than other cathedrals Iāve been in.
I like Kings Lynn too.One of my fond memories is going up to Kings Lynn and listening vivaldi being played at the church up there. I didnt have a ticket to see it so I sat on the steps and listened. Very nice.
I like Norwich
Do you mean Eye in Cambridgeshire or Eye in Suffolk?Ana ticket to see it so I sat on the steps and listened.
I donāt see why your accent wouldnāt be appreciated.if my american accent was not appreciated. I couldnāt tell which.
My Grandmother was a lakeland lass so I know it well. I couldnāt get lost in the lake District if I tried. But my best time there was when I went up to the Lake distict for a week. Got lost hiking up there got wet but had a blast.
Okay, so if the apostles forgiving peoplesā sins did not lead them away from Jesus, why do you say that priests today who do the exact same thing DO lead people away from Jesus?
Modified:The Roman Catholic Church teaches that āpriestsā are mediators between God and man as well. Instead of confessing their sins to God through Christ they confess their sins to a āpriestā This is another trick to keep people away from Christ.
Please explain the distinction.Jesus taught that apostles are mediators between God and man as well. Instead of confessing their sins to God through Christ they confess their sins to an āapostleā This is another trick to keep people away from Christ.
My question was, "Have you ever heard anyone say, āStatue of Mary, please pray for me.ā ?Nobody said āStatue of Baal please pray for meā either.
I used to be.Both Ely and Huntingdon claim he was their son.
Are you USAF?
Iām not sure. It was just out side Peterborough on the way to Kings Lynn. BTW I also played rugby for 1 season at Ramsey. (Ramsey Rams near Upwood) I Propped (stunk) but had fun to.Do you mean Eye in Cambridgeshire or Eye in Suffolk?
John 20:23Okay, so if the apostles forgiving peoplesā sins did not lead them away from Jesus, why do you say that priests today who do the exact same thing DO lead people away from Jesus?
Fair enough. But if it looks like a duckā¦My question was, "Have you ever heard anyone say, āStatue of Mary, please pray for me.ā ?
The Catholic Catechism does not teach it. You have not heard people say it. So why do you think the Church approves of it?
I thought so.I used to be.
That would be Eye, CambridgeshireIām not sure. It was just out side Peterborough on the way to Kings Lynn. BTW I also played rugby for 1 season at Ramsey. (Ramsey Rams near Upwood) I Propped (stunk) but had fun to.
