We need to be cautious about making generalizations. The homilies at the OF at my local parish are clear and orthodox. On the other hand, at an EF parish that I attend on occasion, the priest often goes beyond Church teaching in his sermons. For example, I heard one where he preached that we should only use the Douay-Rheims version of the Bible. He wasn’t stating this as his personal opinion but as if it were Church teaching. In many cases those who attend the OF think of Mass as a celebration. Those who attend the EF think of Mass as the sacrifice of the cross. Great Saints have sung the praises of the EF. Clear Church teaching is given at an EF homily. At an OF homily the priest or deacon wants to be careful not to offend anyone so they preach a feel good fuzzy Church teaching.
