Why I identify as homosexual even while living chastely

Whether God has, or hasn’t, made persons gay is speculative. We have no way of knowing. We do know that God allows suffering in the world and some say that homosexuality is burden to be shouldered, much as Christ carried his own cross.

The exact cause of homosexuality is still in dispute, but a biological basis can not be ruled out. Yes, God could prevent homosexuality if he wanted, however he could do the same thing for birth defects and yet doesn’t. This doesn’t mean that God wants babies to suffer from defects… he just allows it to happen.

As for the OP’s statement of faith, I applaud it. Some people at CAF take the position that a gay or lesbian person should keep that information private. However, Christ carried his cross through the center of Jerusalem for all to see. I think knowing that a person is carrying a burden, yet remaining faithful to God, is an encouragement for all of us.
Homosexuality is not a burden , it is a choice just as abortion is a choice God gave us free will as a test some of us live right some of us fail his test . if you choose homosexuality you fail his test as well as those who choose abortion .

So if homosexuality is a choice as God would not make someone homosexual, does that mean that infertility is a choice? Or mental/physical disability?

As a person, I relate equally to both men and women. I’m sexually interested in some, but not all, women.

The OP sounds just generally dismissive of men and maleness, perhaps considering these to be less than female or freakish. In the same way that there is “misogyny” in some few men, there may be something similar among women.

I’m thinking in particular of a female friend who was raised to think of women as morally superior to men, with men acting as being buffoons and servants.

I’ve read a good deal on homosexuality since the issue keeps getting pressed, hard and forcibly, vociferously and relentlessly, in our faces. (This is unpleasant on several levels).

From what I’ve read, it appears that Science has no answer to give us. It appears to me to be a functioning of one’s psychological development, a complex one, since it involves our interactions with others and ability to socially present ourselves as persons. I think the term “disorder” DOES sound offensive, but it seems technically accurate here.

We live in hyperactive times. Genetically modified seeds and foods are introduced, without a thought of the long-term impacts. Radical change in social relations similarly introduced, without knowing the science of it, or the long-term consequences.

You know as well as I do that those were do to birth defects usual caused by the parents . THeir not choices these people make** however homosexuals make a choice to be that way** .I pointed both out and you know that . I was stating woman homosexual acts as the obvious and not what GOd wants while men defy GOds intentions by having male homosexual sex .DOnt embrace something that is not morally ok .
Completely false.

Is this person a troll??

Umm, what? Are you saying that parents also cause their children to have birth defects? The grammar in your post is rather inscrutable, but if that is what you are saying here, wow, just wow…

Your identity doesn’t come from your current sexual preferences.

Some people prefer not to eat meat…their identity isn’t centered around vegetarianism.

Some people like baseball, some people like reggae. That’s not their identity.

Why do homosexuals, especially homosexual men seem to over-dwell on what they or the world has termed “sexual identity”.

They are children of God, first, middle and last.

No other “grouping” of people seems so hung up on “sexual identity” These forums are over-littered with driveling ons about sexual identity and such.

Stop buying the world’s ‘categories’…and use God’s instead. There is no peace or serenity in the world’s contorted and ever changing categories.

A person can use multiple terms to identify themselves - Mother, Father, American, Japanese, Child of God, Homosexual, Heterosexual, Liberal, Conservative, Catholic, Atheist, Black, White, etc etc…

They are just titles that help describe who we are. There’s nothing wrong with that.

You don’t get it. Show me the comparable threads, labeled as such “Why I identify myself as a Mother, Father, American…child of God” in these forums.

The world wants us mixed up…wants us to equate being “children of God” with all these other things.

The world wants us with muddled thinking, forgetting proportionality and precedence like you/ve done here. Just what the world and satan wants, muddled thinkers, who can’t view things as they truly are.

Go back and tune up your formation.

??

I identify myself as a heterosexual.

I also identify myself as a wife, a sister, a daughter, a conservative, a Brazilian, a Catholic…

I don’t see how the evilness of society or Satan has anything to do with the above truths.

I mean it’s more true and penetrating and useful to have labeled this thread"

“Why I identify myself as chaste…”

[properly the term would be celibate]

Catholic husbands and wives should live “chaste” lives meaning that all their desires and expressions are done for their spouse, and no other (including themselves). In other words, even in the middle of sexual relations, each should only be seeking the good and pleasure of the other. Not “expected reciprocity”…total self-donation for the benefit and TRUE good of the other.

That’s what chaste means.

Right…show me the other proportionately numbered threads in CAF that are so titled. You won’t find them, proving my first posting.

You should re-order your thinking. You are a child of God and when you fully exhaust that notion…in all of its enormously practical meaning and value, then you could start thinking about other, lesser 'identities".

Evilness breeds and spreads in untruth. This is Church teaching.

Ok?

So you’re problem here is with the title of this thread. :hmmm:

Just pointing out the difference between living chastely and celibately.

As a husband I need to live chastely. When I go overseas for months on end with the Marines I live both chastely and celibately. And I offer it all up to God for graces for my wife and family.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. But if your argument is concerning the title of this thread, I have nothing else to say, as I think that is very petty.

**To the OP: **

You are a brave woman and have probably overcome more than many of us here could ever say we have… and for the I applaud you. :clapping:

When I first was married and for some years after, I didn’t understand chaste desire. I sort of looked at marriage as sort of reciprocally from a sexual point of view.

And I learned otherwise. All my desire should be converted into a focus for my dear wife. And all my desire should spring directly from interaction and love of her and God. I shouldn’t be working up an appetite elsewhere, so to speak. This is something that some men struggle with.

Still don’t know how this info about yourself has anything to do with the OP’s experiences and message she has shared with us, but alright. I’m glad for you and your wife that you are able to stay chaste/celibate while away from each other.
