Dear Peary1
Is this more protestant fodder for the forum, or what?
Not at all – I do not see myself as a Protestant. Please read the threads leading up to my posting – Patrick INSISTED that I explain to him how I understand the Bible/Inspiration/Interpretation etc.

friedrich,
You REALLY have some different beliefs and interpretations. I can see you are really coming from a place far removed from Catholocism. That is sad since, the Catholic Church IS the early Christian Church. All you have to do is read all the way back through history. Everything is written down for you to see. Luther and the other Reformers believed that the Catholic Church was Christ’s Church. AND they all believed and knew that the Catholic Church is the Church that gave them the Bible. That is why Luther said so. We didn’t make that up. Luther said it There is a whole lotta history on the Reformation and the reasons the Reformers gave for the Reformation. Your Church isn’t going to teach the Truth to you, because if they did, you would probably run to the Catholic Church. You are going to HAVE to study history and try to disprove every belief we hold/teach that you aren’t in agreement with. It is sad and disrespectful to teach erroneous errors and untruths about the Catholic Church. All of you do it. We are the oldest Church out there, we ARE the Church that Jesus founded and PROMISED to guide and protect until the end of the ages. He has and we also believe Him and believe that HE WILL DO what HE said He would do. Do the research, you will find the correct answers and come to know that the Catholic Church is still Jesus’ Church, still teaching Jesus’ Deposit of Faith exactly as He gave it to us.

Hi Friedrich,

It was so nice to hear from you!!! I hope you and your family are doing well!!!🙂

First I want to thank you for taking the time to reply to each of my questions…that says a lot about you…and means a lot to me…so I want you to know that I appreciate your answers!! And you were kind and stated your answers clearly, and guess what?..I am not angry at you;)

Unfortunately (only in a responding sense) I am getting ready to go on vacation with my family through August 22 (which is quite fortunate in a relaxing sense), but I would like to continue our dialog when I return…so if you don’t hear from me over the next couple weeks you’ll know why.

Of course, as can be expected, I do disagree with a few of your points, and will have some questions, but I do agree with what “Always For Him” said above about studying history and finding out the truth about the Cathlic Church. And I have no expectation for you to discover that any time soon. Remember, I once belonged to your church, and it took me about 23 years to discover these things through study. So I am glad we are talking, and will continue to do so.

Just a couple points regarding the “Apocrapha”. I believe Jesus did quote and refer to teachings from some of those books, and I will provide them to you to think about when I return from vacation. Also, there is very strong evidence of Paul’s familiarity with them based on some of his writings and teachings that reflect those of the “Apocraphal” books. There are some scholars who think that Paul’s writing style is so similar to the book of Wisdom, that he might even be considered to have authored the book of Wisdom. Some interesting research if you are insterested.

Sooooo…I will be at the beach thinking about you all, and will respond to your answers better when I return.

Again I appreciate you answering my questions and doing so with a good spirit!!! See…we are still friends!!!👍

God bless all!!!

Dear Always For Him,

You are correct that he is coming from a “place far removed from Catholicism”. And I cannot begin to describe to you have far that is unless you have ever been a protestant, let alone a Seventh-day Adventist. I was a Seventh-day Adventist who converted to Catholicism and it is a HUGE change of mind to say the least.

The only example I can think of to relate the gravity of that change of mind, would be if I were to tell you that Lucifer was God and that you need to join the church of satan. There are probably better examples, but that is the best I can find to describe it based on my own experience.

And yet, I take great encouragement in the fact that SDAs and Catholics can look at each other as Christians and talk with each other!

I believe that the Catholic Church is the One True Fold of God…and it literally took decades of study to come to that realization. Much much prayer is necessary!

God bless all!!!

🙂 Dear Patrick

Thank you once again for your loving Christian reply.

I HOPE YOU HAVE A LOVELY HOLIDAY BY THE SEA – it is winter here by us right now, so no holidays by any sea! The only good thing is that there is a whiff of spring in the air, and flowers are sprouting all over the place. Went for a walk with my wife this afternoon up the mountain – it felt heavenly.

God bless,

Friedrich.

Thank you for your kind and supportive response. I grew up Catholic, but for a number of years, went to Methodist, Assembly of God, and Southern Baptist Churches with extended family members and friends. I was a teenager through most of this and not brilliant in my understanding of my Catholic faith, but man could I tell they were coming from a different place. The teachings were all over the place. It was obviously individual beliefs that weren’t founded on anything but what their Church believes or their own beliefs. Nothing was ever really consistent in teachings. I also realized then, that if Churches have to speak and teach negatively about other Churches, especially the Catholic Church, they must be having to speak in error to justify their different beliefs. You can’t belittle another Church to make your Church correct. It just doesn’t work that way.

What I am noticing across the board with non-Catholics is that they REALLY have/know wrong information/teachings in regards to the Catholic Church. All across the board, they are all wrong, erroneous, some blatantly fabricated ideas of what they believe to be the Catholic Church. When we try to show them where we are coming from, they won’t believe us. We don’t have to show them anything, but we are trying anyway. If we say that their understanding of our teachings is wrong, then it is wrong and they need to take our answers, think about them and do what they want with them.

Believing our teachings or their teachings is another issue. It is amazing how many different interpretations/understandings of Scripture that are out there. Jesus taught One Truth and there is only one Church around at the time to be taught those teachings and understood the interpretations and meanings of those teachings. It is the same Church that carried, taught and protected them from error, then wrote them in down into a book - the Bible, and has continued to teach the very same teachings today - The Catholic Church. No amount of denying that is going to make it true. It is historically documented. There is so much documentation and information to learn and study, you couldn’t possibly do it in a lifetime. All anyone has to do is research it though. You could learn enough for you to learn the Truth. It is easier to just believe what you have been taught, than to research it yourself. It has to be difficult to admit/acknowledge that you have been taught in error by your Church. Not everything is error, but if it is different from what the Catholic Church has ALWAYS taught since the time of the apostles, then it is error. Denying that won’t change what is true.

Dear Patrick

I am very happy to be at last communicating with you again, especially after your comforting and open reply to my last posting.

Please accept my answers in the same Christian spirit as your letter – I do NOT claim to be all knowing etc, but am giving you thoughts that have grown through my personal study. IF AT ANY TIME A MAKE A WRONG STATEMENT ABOUT HISTORY/YOUR CHURCH, PLEASE RECTIFY IT, SINCE OBVIOUSLY YOU WOULD KNOW MORE ABOUT THAT THAN AN OUTSIDER!

a. It is a rhetorical question – if ANY Christian does NOT believe that the Bible is the only rule of faith, then the Bible is merely another Christian book, and Bible study is a waste of time. Yes, the Bible DOES claim to be the only rule of faith, and I have already discussed that with you – 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed…’’; Isaiah 8:20: To the law and to the testimony! IF THEY DO NOT SPEAK ACCORDING TO THIS WORD, THEY HAVE NO LIGHT OF DAWN.’’

a. I have already touched on this with you – under the guidance of the Holy Spirit the JEWISH LEADERS (by 500 BC) canonized’ the OT, and under the guidance of the same Holy Spirit the EARLY CHRISTIANS (some also Jewish Christians) by 200 AD canonized’ the NT. This was formalized in 382? at the Council of Rome.

a. Another rhetorical question. NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO INTERPRET THE BIBLE FOR ANYBODY ELSE. Only by prayer and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts, AND BY FOLLOWING BASIC PRINCIPLES OF BIBLICAL HERMENEUTICS (I AM SURE YOUR THEOLOGIANS HAVE THEM TOO – THEY ARE BRILLIANT!), CAN WE TRY TO BE AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE.

a. See (2) above, same question.

a. similar to (2) above. If they are not inspired, why bother to study them? Also NOT ONE BOOK IN THE NT CONTRADICTS THE REST OF SCRIPTURE!

a. answered before. THE BIBLE IS A LIMITED COMPILATION OF INSPIRED BOOKS UNDER THE HOLY SPIRIT’S GUIDANCE – many other prophets had inspired messages from God, but the HOLY SPIRIT saw it fit not to include them in God’s Word, the Bible.
However, where any other religious books like the apocrypha CONTRADICT THE UNITY OF SCRIPTURE, THE EARLY COMPILERS UNDER GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT SAW IT FIT NOT TO USE THEM AS PART OF THE CANON. You know that Jesus quoted extensively from the LXX, but I am not aware of any quotes in the NT by Jesus or any of His disciples from any apocryphal writings

`the Bible, which we received from the Catholic Church’’…. False assumption! Are you aware that the early Christian Church had a few subdivisions, like the Western Church, The Eastern Church, the Syriac-speaking Church. I am sure all of them could claim to be the original church, with the keys etc.

The Bible consists of Old Testament = 39 books. They were canonized more than 600 years before the Catholic Church existed (with all due respect); Jesus’ `It is written’ quotes were from the Greek LXX, but never from any apocryphal writings.

The New Testament consists of 27 books which were canonized by the early Christians around 200 AD.
• See writings by Eusebius (Commentaria in Matthaeum, Tomus, XVII.30) on Origen’s description of the canon. He himself in book iii.25, Loeb ed., vol I, pp. 257, 259) gives us a clear canon with Recognized Books’ (27 in current NT), Disputed Books’, and `altogether wicked and impious books’.
• See the declaration of Athanasius of Alexandria, in his 39th Festal Letter (AD 367) that the canon consisted of 27 books.

The formation of the NT canon was thus not done by any church or specific council, but rather by general consent as the early church leaders sifted’ the wheat from the chaff under guidance of the Holy Spirit. This was later formalized at the council of Rome towards the end of the 4th century AD under pope Damasus So yes, the Catholic Church had maybe 10% part to play in 382 AD when the established canon was formalized’ by a council in Rome.
THAT HARDLY QUALIFIES THEM TO CLAIM TO HAVE GIVEN US THE BIBLE…

.
We all know of the conversion’ of Constantine in the 4th century AD, and that many compromises were made by the early church after this time. – here is a list of unbiblical doctrines that were added to those of the early Christians from this time on till the present – – Unbiblical doctrine, Date Sunday, 321-364 AD Council of Laodicea Relic Worship, 337 AD Rosary, 366 AD Mass, 394 AD This Rock=Peter’, 445 AD Pope Leo I
Eternal Torment, 590 AD
Indulgences, 799 AD
Mary Worship, 850 AD
Bible Forbidden, 1299 AD
Infant Baptism, 1311 AD
Tradition above Scripture, 1563 (reaffirmed)
Transubstantiation, 1563 (reaffirmed)
Purgatory, 1563 (reaffirmed)
Justification by Faith & Works, 1563 (reaffirmed)
Preterism/Futurism, 1584
Immaculate Conception, 1854
Papal Infallibility, 1870
Pope sovereign ruler, 1929
Assumption of Mary, 1951

When the Roman empire collapsed in 476 AD, the bishop of Rome started taking over more political power, and in 533 AD emperor Justinian decreed that the Bishop of Rome was the spiritual leader of the world. They then became a religio/political power that eliminated other factions of the church that did not agree with them, through the use of armies, till the final fall of the Heruli, Vandals and Ostrogoths by 538 AD. Since that time the Catholic Church has been the undisputed powerhouse of Europe, until Napoleon’s general Berthiere temporarily halted this trend in 1798. We all know that Mussolini re-instated the Pope in the Vatican after WW1. Today he is the most influential person on earth.
This seems 100% the opposite of the way Peter and Jesus went about establishing Jesus’ Kingdom on earth – the only force ever used was when Peter used a sword to chop off Malchus’ ear – Jesus reprimanded Peter, and healed the wound in Gethsemane the evening before His death.

In the light of the above, can THE CURRENT CATHOLIC CHURCH CLAIM TO BE THE SAME EARLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH THAT CHRIST ESTABLISHED, AND THEREBY HAVE THE SOLE RIGHT TO INTERPRET SCRIPTURE?

a. Already discussed – the problem is inconsistency in applying basic principles of hermeneutics, or lack of such principles. Even if we were to discuss Shakespeare’s works, there would have to be some logical principles of interpretation to stick to, otherwise we would be talking in the wind…

b. Evangelicals and Fundamentalists (so far) have not had the political clout to FORCE everybody to agree, or risk being branded a heretic, and burnt at the stake, as happened for hundreds of years in Europe

c. The same question can be asked of the Catholic Church – see the list of added doctrines over a period of 1400 years – did the first bishops of Rome not know about doctrines like Preterism/Futurism, the Immaculate Conception (1854), Papal Infallibility (1870), Pope sovereign ruler (1929), the Assumption of Mary (1951) in 300 AD?

I KNOW MANY OF THESE DOCTRINES ARE VERY DEAR TO YOU, AND IN NO WAY INTEND TO HURT YOU BY MENTIONING THEM. I AM SIMPLY ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS, AS SEEN FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE.

Hopefully you now understand the differences between us better. ONE DAY WE MAY JUST GET TO THE PLACE WHERE WE CAN TALK ABOUT THE MANY SIMILARITIES OUR FAITHS HAVE!

I eagerly await your introduction to Genesis 1&2!

God bless, and have a wonderful day,

Your brother in Christ,

Friedrich
Thank you for your articulate and well thought out answers. I have printed it out and plan on using it for teaching and further study. Thanks again.

Hi Friedrich,

Thank you very much for your well wishes for my holiday! It is of course the last minute and I’m trying to get ready…thank goodness for the last minute, because if it wasn’t for the last minute nothing would get done!🙂 It is mind boggling for me to hear you talk about spring in the air and not being able to go to the beach because it’s winter (in August) where you are…lol

I do accept your answers in the spirit of Christ’s love, and agree that neither of us are experts…but I do believe that you are praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our dialog, as I am too. That makes the world of difference in dialoging when disagreeing, and I believe we will both learn and be blessed from this experience.

Before I leave for vaction, I found some links that are very good regarding the LXX that I wanted to share with you. You will have some relaxed time to look at them while I’m on vacation. Since these links are related specifically to the LXX, I hope you understand why I “hacked down” your reply to what you see above.
  1. I was looking for an “unbiased” (if there can ever be such a thing) history of the LXX and the books it contained, since we both agree that the LXX were the scriptures used by Jesus. This link is to a table of the LXX books from a Wikepedia post:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Septuagint#Table_of_books
  1. This next link is to a table that compares the LXX books, the O.T. books used by Catholics, and the O.T. books used by protestants:
vivacatholic.wordpress.com/2008/02/18/septuagint-lxx-catholic-and-protestants-old-testament
  1. This next link shows the exact quotes from the LXX in the N.T. And there are no exact quotes from the Deuterocanonical books (the Catholic term, which I probably mis-spelled, for what protestants call the Apocrapha) that I can see…which is one reason protestants give for removing the Deuterocanonical books.
But if you look at the books of the LXX from which quotes are made in the N.T., you will find that not even all of the books of the O.T. used by protestants are referenced. I don’t think you would use that fact to remove those other books from your Bible however. So it would appear that quoting LXX books in the N.T. is not a good test for whether or not a book should be included in the cannon of scripture:

kalvesmaki.com/LXX/NTChart.htm
  1. The last link is a table that compares references in the N.T. to passages from the Deuterocanonical books:
geocities.com/Heartland/Pines/7224/Rick/Septuagint/spindex.htm

So I guess, my point is, if Jesus quoted from the LXX, even though not every book of the LXX, He accepted the LXX as inspired scripture. And if the LXX at the time of Jesus contained the Dueterocanonical/Aprocraphal books, then those books, like other O.T. books regarded by protestants as inspired (even though they are not quoted in the N.T.), are regarded by Jesus as inspired scripture.

Enjoy these links! Keep me in your prayers as I keep you and yours in mine! I look forward to talking more with you when I return from vacation.

Your brother in Christ,
Patrick Murebil

Actually, when I clicked on the link above it took me to the main page of that site. To view the table that I’m referring to above, you need to go to the left side column in the CONTENTS box and click on this:

That should get you to the correct table!

Take care and God bless all!!!

Sacred Scripture tells us that God created in 6-days and rested on the 7th.

Of course God was not constrained to time in the same way that we are so we do not know the length of each day. But let us take it that Scripture is truth.

I accept that traditionally Saturday was taken as the Sabbath but where in Scripture does it say that God started work at dawn on Sunday and finished work at sunset on Friday? 😛

He may have started on Wednesday and finished on Tuesday!

What we do know is that the Apostles were assembled in the Upper Room on the first day of the week Jn 20:19 ‘when Jesus came and stood among them!’ So the Lord did not feel constrained by Saturday as Sabbath.

Hi Friedrich,

I hope all is well with you and your family! The beach was delightful and restful. We moved my daughter in to her dorm this past weekend as she begins her first year of college…where does the time go?🙂

As I looked at your answers to my questions again, it seems that we will probably need to start new threads, or something, to discuss those issues since they don’t fit into the theme of this thread…and we can figure that out later.

So I guess we should begin to discuss the Creation story in Genesis 1 and 2. Does that sound ok to you?

Also, I was wondering if you had some time to look at the LXX links I provided in the above posts and if you had any thoughts about that before we proceed with the Creation story?

I look forward to talking with you brother!!

God bless all,
Patrick

I think that Genisis is highly suspect. Human biology tells us The natural state in nature is not male but female, that man came from woman and not the other way around.

If a man is deprived of his testesterone producing organs, he reverts to female but if a female loses her overaries she remains female. So this flatly contradicts Genisis. You are free to believe what you want but I know what I believe.

Likewise the story of Jesus walking on water found in Matthew 14: 22-33, and Mark 6:45-52, our PP a very competent homiliest recently taught that this never actually happened but was a metaphor created to teach us an important principle about faith.

Now if this never happened, how much more never actually happened. In the light of our PP’s homilies and this is not the first time we have been told particular stories are not to be taken literally, then I think that most of Scripture is suspect unless it can be proven beyond reasonable doubt to be true.

Why I am a strong advocate of Tradition of the CC as that is the sole claim to authenticity we really have isn’t it

Blessings and peace

Unfortunately; you are wrong. If you are talking about The Ten Commandments, then you will not be able to show where your’s or my Bible calls it “The Mosaic Law.”
The fourth commandment, in particular, shows us the nature of these Ten Commandment Laws when it says: “The Sabbath OF THE LORD THY GOD.” It is never called “The Sabbath of Moses,” or “The Jewish Sabbath.”
Mark 2:27-28 And he said to them: The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord of the sabbath also.
BTW a Seventh-Day Adventist once pointed something out to me, that I as a religious Jew never noticed:
The 4th commandment (to honor the Sabbath) is the ONLY one of the Aseret ha’Dibrot (Ten Commandments) which basically names the God who gave the Law.
It speaks of the God who “created the world in six days and rested on the seventh”.
This SDA felt that that is why Satan wanted to persuade the Christian world to switch to Sunday…as a way of taking honor away from the One God.
I have to say, as a Jew, that argument made a lot of sense to me (another example of how I learn from other religious traditions sometimes!)
I want to quote a section of Matthew, particulary from Chapter 22
Matthew 22:34 But the Pharisees, hearing that he had silenced the Sadducees, came together. 35 And one of them, a doctor of the law, asked him, tempting him: 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart and with thy whole soul and with thy whole mind. 38 This is the greatest and the first commandment. 39 And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.
41 And the Pharisees being gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 Saying: What think you of Christ? Whose son is he? They say to him: David’s. 43 He saith to them: How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying: 44 The Lord said to my Lord: Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool? 45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? 46 And no man was able to answer him a word: neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
I’ve always been taught since I became catholic that Christ summed up the 10 commandments into these two above. Of course, adoration of God is above the 2nd, which is about our neighbor.

I bring this up because there seems to be a certain implication by SDA and other Sabbatarian Christians that the 4th commandment is THE commandment and above the rest. If this were so, why would Christ not raise this point when he spoke to the Saducees and Pharisees? Rather, he seems to just sum up the first set of commandments in regard to God, in order to show the essence of their purpose: To love the LORD our God with our whole heart and with our whole soul and with our whole mind. (as a side note, I appeal to this verse in my heart when I hear people charge catholics of idolatry because of our statues). In other words, I really think that Christ simply refocuses us to the true purpose rather then our temptations of trying to legalize and build fascinating doctrines on commandments .
This SDA felt that that is why Satan wanted to persuade the Christian world to switch to Sunday…as a way of taking honor away from the One God
I fail to see Satan’s success in this attempt because I fail to see the honor taken away from the One God. This idea seems to be a smoke screen in my opinion

I never have been good at understanding the whole change by the early church which still stands today. I recognize the Sabbath to be Saturday and Sunday to be “The Lord’s Day”. The Sabbath will always be the Sabbath, but It’s quite evident that St. John’s invitation to the heavenly worship occuring on the Lord’s Day is, in fact, the Mass. Obviously it’s full of beautiful and frightening imagery and until I read “The Lamb’s Supper” by Scott Hahn, I pretty much never understood the odd writing.

Like I said, I’m no good at explaining Sabbath and Lord’s Day differences nor am I an apologist. I feel that citing “Lord’s Day” texts from the NT can be good, but we should just simply look at the reasons of God’s commandments and escape the legalistic citings.

If I am out of order here, please help me. I’m just trying to state my humble and “simple” understanding.

You raise some interesting points to think about.

As for Jesus walking on the water…well…I wasn’t there, but I have no problem belieiving in “super natural” miracles, which is one of the reasons why the theology of the Eucharist was so easy for me to believe and embrace.

Pat,

Are you aware of any OT references that may elude to a change in days? I’m really starting to find some interest in this topic and would like to explore it much further 😉

Thanks all and God Bless all of you

imroc,

I don’t know if you are new to this thread or not, but go back in this thread and read the posts by MarysRoses, especially the ones regarding the 8th day offering of first fruits. She explains beautifully this concept in the O.T. and how it applies to the resurrection of Jesus in the N.T. She is a former Seventh-day Adventist who converted to Catholicism and has really great scriptural, historic, and logical knowledge of the change from Saturday to Sunday. Her posts earlier in this thread are a great beginning to this topic you desire to explore.

I am a former Seventh-day Adventist in the process of joining the Catholic Church (R.C.I.A. this fall) and I have found her posts to be extremely informative and sound theologically. I hope this helps you!

You mentioned reading “The Lamb’s Supper” by Scott Hahn ( I just bought it), and if you have not read his book, “A Father Who Keeps His Promises”, I highly recommend it. I initially came to believe the teaching and truth of the Eucharist, but had great difficulty resolving my deep belief in the 7th day sabbath as being binding on Christians, as well as my belief as a SDA that the Catholic Church was the whore of Babylon and that the popes are the anti-christ. “A Father Who Keeps His Promises” was the book that resolved those issues for me, and highlights that God’s plan of salvation is not centered around “The Law” and legalism, but rather in the covenants He makes with His followers as a loving Father revealing His purposes for his children. You touched on this difference in your post above.

If I’m telling you things you already know, I apologize. Let me know how your exploration goes!

God bless all!!!

imroc,

I don’t know if you are new to this thread or not, but go back in this thread and read the posts by MarysRoses, especially the ones regarding the 8th day offering of first fruits. She explains beautifully this concept in the O.T. and how it applies to the resurrection of Jesus in the N.T.
Unfortunately; there is no “eighth day” on the calendar; and the resurrection of Jesus has nothing to do with the Biblical seventh-day Sabbath.

I disagree that MarysRoses posts are “theologically sound;” except to say they are sound Catholic theology.

Where in the Bible are we literally told to celebrate any day of the week, “in honor of the resurrection?” Where does it actually say we are to “transfer” the “seventh-day Sabbath principle” to any day of the week, “in honor of the resurrection?”

Hi, Friedrich,** I must humbly disagree with your statement above that “the bible is the only rule of faith”. **I agree with Isaiah and 2 Tim. 3:16 but it does not support your “only” theory. I dont find this teaching in sacred scripture. I have listed some scriptures for your review below. I have read all your commentary, there I find many misunderstood topics of history about The body of Jesus Christ his Catholic Church. Truth is the first step into understanding faith in Jesus Christ, and it does not come from the bible “only”. The key I found to understanding Church history, is that the Catholic church publicly defined an already believed doctrine, because it came under attack by heretics or heresies. Your dates only confirm the only Christian faith in history the Catholic church in existance, fighting off heresies, by clarifying, defining apostolic christian teachings handed down to her by Oral Tradition from the apostles and Scripture, not inventing new doctrines. These Catholic belief’s you listed are supported by sacred scripture, sacred Tradition, apostles and early church fathers. Many of them you listed like Constantine the Roman Emperor was never a Christian until his death bed. But you appear to be listing him as a Roman Catholic? Constantine only lifted the persecution of the Catholic church and helped bring it out from underground. Thirdly, you appear to be confusing Catholic rites with cultural peoples, you have a misunderstanding about Catholicism and its diverse cultural communities united in one faith, one baptism and one Lord.

The bible never claims to be the “only” rule of faith not if “Truth” has anything to do with it. The bible clearly teaches that The Church is the household of God and the “Pillar and foundation of Truth”
1Tim.3:1515
But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the **household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. **

Jesus Christ himself built his Church upon Kepha “Rock” Peter and handed him the keys to the kingdom of heaven with excercising authority from heaven.

Mathew 16:18
And so I say to you, **you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, **13 and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
19
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. 14 Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

**The bible clearly states that Sacred Tradition is to be followed alongside Sacred Scripture, **so if you do not have Sacred Tradition supported by Sacred Scripture a Christian does not have the full Truth and full deposit of faith.

2Thes.2:15
Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.

1Cor.11:1
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
2
1 I praise you because you remember me in everything **and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you. **

1 Peter 1;25
but the word of the Lord remains forever." **This is the word that has been proclaimed to you. **

The bible states that Christians need an interpreter to interpret scripture which is the Church.

2 Peter 3:15 16
speaking of these things as he does in all his letters. In them there are some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other scriptures.
17
Therefore, beloved, since you are forewarned, be on your guard not to be led into the error of the unprincipled and to fall from your own stability.
18
But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory now and to the day of eternity. (Amen.)

Besides not everything Jesus did got recorded in scripture; That is why Paul and Peter record in scripture we also need sacred Tradition alongside sacred Scripture in order to recieve the full deposit of faith. “The bible only” as you believe does not follow what is written in the bible, nor agrees with apostolic teachings.

John 21:25
There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.

I hope this begins to help you see how old and unchanging the Catholic faith is these 2000 years. Peace be with you
