Why Islam denies the crucifixion of Christ

oh please. where’s the justice in sacrificing an innocent man to get rid of some mysterious sickness?

adam and eve committed a sin. for that they were punished and cursed. yet for some strange reason adam and eve’s children also bear the brunt of this sin.
You are speaking of Original Sin. In fact, as an Orthodox, I do not believe in Original Sin, at least in terms of inheriting guilt - rather, we inherited Adam and Eve’s sinful nature - or that will to disobey God - and it is that which separates us from God. This is called Ancestral Sin. It is our own condemnation, not Adam’s implanted on us. I think even western Christians would agree with this notion, however.
then god for another strange reason cannot forgive his children apparently. so he then sacrifices an innocent man to get rid of this sin.
God cannot simply forgive someone willy nilly. Even Islam believes this - how many times does the Koran recount the fate of those who do not repent their sins? Why doesn’t God just forgive them?

Of course, as I stated, the cause of sin is on our own part. Again, the Koran accounts for how God wants men to come to him, but they choose to ignore the signs and evidence put before them. The Christian God is no different. He loves all men, the problem is not all men love Him back.
does that sound to as a just god? a fair god. please. you christians need to think logically for once.
Getting sarcastic does not assist in your cause.
why should i be punished for a sin i did not commit? did adam and eve ask my permission before eating that apple? this is the most outrageous idea ever seen on the face of the earth. that god does not punish the evil doers but the innocent.
Again, you are confusing Original Sin with Ancestral Sin. This is an important distinction that needs to be made.
and if god chooses to forgive adam he can do so. if i want to forgive someone, i can do so of my own free will. i don’t need to sacrifice an innocent man so that i can forgive a person.
Again, God does not simply forgive willy nilly, or simply forgives for the sake of forgiving. Repentance must come first - a person has to change their ways. If Adam and Eve had repented that day in the Garden we would never have had the Fall. As it stands, they blamed each other and the snake, and so chose to remain separated from their Lord. Mankind, by nature, wants to be separated from the Lord. When we repent and come to Him, we change our state of being with the Lord - we now embrace Him. We unite with Him.

That is the point of Christ’s parable of the lost sheep. The lost sheep was mankind, who had wondered away from the 99-fold herd (the heavenly bodies), and it was the Good Shepherd, Christ, who left the heavens to reclaim man and bring him back to God.
jesus never died. god saved him from the humilaiting death.
Again, no evidence for this. The errant presupposition of a man who lived 600 years after the event with absolutely no ties to the Church or a Jewish tribe cannot be held as proof.

This is called Ancestral Sin. It is our own condemnation, not Adam’s implanted on us. I think even western Christians would agree with this notion, however.
This western Catholic certainly agrees with that idea. 👍
Though I find myself agreeing with the Orthodox more and more the more I learn about what you guys believe… 😊

I’m pretty certain most Catholics do. 😃 I believe I read a passage of Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Theologica where he essentially approves of both beliefs. What aggravates me is when non-Orthodox hear we don’t believe in Original Sin and jump to the conclusion that we’re Pelagians, without doing further research on how we perceive the Fall.
Though I find myself agreeing with the Orthodox more and more the more I learn about what you guys believe… 😊
Yes, yes…come to our side…

No I’m kidding. No really, not trying to convert anyone. No! Don’t ban me! Noooooooooo!!!

Original sin is being discussed. The Satan disobeyed God out of his own will. Nobody misguided him.

Adam and Eve were told to beware of the satan as satan was their open enemy. They forgot that and they were misguided by the dare-devil (satan). They committed the mistake of disobedience due to some one else’s bad work, not due to their own will. It was not a wilful disobedience.

So it could not be such a bad move. Then Allah taught Adam and Eve the right words for repentence. They repented. Allah forgave them. repentence is necessary. B W wants that Allah should forgive every one without repentence, that is wrong. Taht would be another wrong idea from a christian.

Already, they have got some one (Jesus) on the cross to take away the sins of the sinners. that is unbelievable. The whole cae of original sin is made up to arrange the Crucifixion of Jesus for salvation. None of these could be true.

Now coming to the topic:
  1. Muslims do not believe that Jesus died on the cross. So the act of Crucifying was not successful even if Jesus was put on the Cross. We believe, as it is in Quran that Jesus was made to appear as dead to them all. he was not dead. The enemies could not kill Jesus on the cross and they could not kill Jesus in any other way too (Wa maa qataloo hu Yaqeenam".
  2. The death on the cross is a bad death. It was all known to every one, specially Jesus.he was not ready to die on the cross.Of course he was willing o die in any other way. But not on the cross, which his enemies had planned for him.
It is written in bibel that cursed is the one who is put on the tree (Crucified.) Jesus is never a cursed person. So Muslims do not believe that was Crucified (= died on the cross). He was put on the cross and suffered much. But was only unconscious when brouhgt down. That is the belief of some muslims and that is the main rason why they do not believe that Jesus was Crucified.

Jesus did not like that too. He prayed in the garden to avoid the cup. Quran (ch.3) tells us that God accepted his prayers and told him that he will die a natural deat and not a death on the cross.

It was indeed a miracle for the sake of Jesus that he survived the incident of the cross. Thanks to Allah.

For BW: Repentence is a must. It is all written in the bibleNT from Jesus as well as John the Baptist. Jesus says “thos ewho repent and return to God are very dear to God… God loves them.” He told such things by way of parables (mathew)**

Planten:

you may consider yourself a Muslim, but you are truly a Gnostic if you believe what
you have said ( written ). This is exactly what Gnosticism teaches. Since Gnosticism
existed long before Islam, Muhammad must have been a Gnostic when he wrote the Koran. Gnosticism makes up its own version of what it THINKS happened.

May Allah open your eyes and mind to the truth. Salaam.

Adam and Eve were forgiven. But they could not atone for sin. And people continued to sin.

What is the message of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his only son Isaac?

For people to claim they believe in Christ but deny His crucifixion, when there were historical witnesses, causes grief to us. To willfully deny the truth of Christ’s life, just as there are movements within Jerusalem to destroy any artifacts of proof of Israel’s prior existence causes pain and grief as well.

sorry but that’s really no right.man did not inherit any sinful nature from adam. You see, God made us like that. we were created with the capacity to sin from the start, Infact there is a passage in the koran where the angels ask Allah on why have you created someone (referring to adam) who will commit bloodshed and killings.

You see in islam we believe in the concept of resposibility. You are responsible for what you do. So if you sin you are responsible. Oh by the way you have made another false assumption on the koran and Allah. Unlike the christian concept of God Allah is not hindered by anything. He forgives and punishes as he wills. You see if i commit a sin. And i ask Allah for forgiveness then Allah will forgive me if he wills.

No one has to die for my sins. That’s just sick. That’s the difference between you and me. You need jesus to die for you so that your sins will vanish. Me i need god’s forgiveness for any sins i commit. The onus is upon me. Whereas in christianity the onus is upon jesus.

i seem to remember one christian brother who actually agreed with me based upon the chapter of ezekial in the bible where there’s a passage that says the soul than sinneth it shall die. i suggest you read that passge completely.

another thing. God does not need to form himself into a man. You actually lower God by bringing him down to our level. God does not need to be a man to understand how we feel or how we think or guide us. he created us for Heaven’s sake. rather he picks a man of righteousness amongst us to guide us to the true path.

God can be summed up in 4 verses from the quran
  1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
  2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
  3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

Very straight forward and to the point. No trinity confusion here.

atoned? they already atoned for their sins by asking for the lord’s forgiveness. When did God become a shylock?

That forgiveness is not enough. that God needs some sort of blood sacrifice. what kind of God is that? sister listen to what you are saying. God forgave adam and eve. But he wanted some interest on the debt he was owed.

God then sacrificed an innocent man because for some strange reason he could not get rid of some sin that adam and eve did. God the most powerful being on the universe cannot get rid of this sin. someone had to die?

sorry sister but that’s not a just God.

A book which came 600 years after the time of Christ’s earthly ministry, dictated by a man with no ties to the Church or a Jewish tribe, and which contradicts everything that came before it. I bring this up only to bring awareness to this fact: Christians and Jews look down upon the Koran because it comes from the desert of Arabia from a random man who claimed to be a prophet, and presents beliefs and arguments that contradict everything the two theologies hold dear. When a Muslim looks back on Judaism and Christianity it has to do so through the lens of the Koran and what Mohammad taught, rather than what has always come before which is that God always confirmed what came before. If a religion forces you to hold presuppositions, that religion essentially forces you to lie. One example of this is in this very discussion: four precise accounts of Christ’s crucifixion are supposed to be ignored simply because of one vague line in the Koran. This is not serious theology.

In any case, I must admit I am rather shocked that you tell us God is the author of evil. Even Calvinists never go that far.
You see in islam we believe in the concept of resposibility. You are responsible for what you do. So if you sin you are responsible. Oh by the way you have made another false assumption on the koran and Allah. Unlike the christian concept of God Allah is not hindered by anything. He forgives and punishes as he wills. To quote Samuel L. Jackson’s character in Jurassic Park…“hold onto your butts,” because guess what? Christians believe that too! There may be a few crazy Protestant sects that teach “once forgiven always forgiven,” but this is not orthodox (little “o”) Christian thought.

In the days of the OT the Jews regularly performed animal sacrifices which forgave them of their sins for that year - despite this, they were still expected to live godly lives. Similarly, Christians believe in responsibility, and every sin we will be held accountable for by a God who indeed forgives as He wills. This is why Orthodox and Catholics have confession: we ask God for forgiveness, and God forgives by His will.

The fact is what is the source of this forgiveness? For the ancient Jews it was the sacrifices, but for Christians it is the last and final sacrifice of Christ on the cross. This is why Christ is said to be the final sacrifice for all mankind. Christians are still expected to live godly lives, and we will be held accountable for our sins, but it is our striving towards Christ on the cross that frees us from that sinful nature.
No one has to die for my sins. That’s just sick. That’s the difference between you and me. You need jesus to die for you so that your sins will vanish. Me i need god’s forgiveness for any sins i commit. The onus is upon me. Whereas in christianity the onus is upon jesus.
This is just sad for me to read. You essentially deny any desire for someone to sacrifice for you. The fact is no one asked Christ to do what He did. For all mankind cared, we could still be separated from God and dead in our sins. God loved us greater than that. God loved us so much that He humbled Himself, entered into our sinful nature, lived a pure life, and died a perfect man. When He descended to the Pit He broke down the gates and saved all those inside who believed, or had awaited His day. He reunited humanity with God.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” [Mark 10:45; NKJV]

Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." [Luke 24:46-47; NKJV]

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” [John 10:11; NKJV]

St. John the Theologian, the disciple whom Jesus loved, wrote:

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. [1 John 3:16]
i seem to remember one christian brother who actually agreed with me based upon the chapter of ezekial in the bible where there’s a passage that says the soul than sinneth it shall die. i suggest you read that passge completely.
Cite the reference, and I will gladly read it.

God does not need to be a man to understand how we feel or how we think or guide us. he created us for Heaven’s sake. rather he picks a man of righteousness amongst us to guide us to the true path.
This is a misunderstanding of the incarnation. When God entered into creation He did not cease being deity - this is what Christians commonly call the hypostatic union: Christ had two natures and two wills, both human and divine. He was fully God and full man. It was not to “understand how we feel or how we think,” but to save us from a curse we have had since the Fall.

You are right that, in one way, God humbled Himself. Paul spoke on this in greater detail:

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. [Philippians 2:5-8; NKJV]
Very straight forward and to the point. No trinity confusion here.
The Trinity is actually not confusing for those who have seriously studied it, rather than allowing others to define it for them. I find many who dislike the Trinity simply have never taken the time to study it, or believe in misconceptions from the Koran, such as the believe that it is “three gods,” or that God created another god. One is paganism, the other is Arianism - both of which have been condemned by Church Fathers throughout history since the time of the apostles.

In addition to my last post…
atoned? they already atoned for their sins by asking for the lord’s forgiveness.
They never asked for forgiveness - they blamed each other and the snake. That was why they were cast from the garden.
God then sacrificed an innocent man because for some strange reason he could not get rid of some sin that adam and eve did. God the most powerful being on the universe cannot get rid of this sin. someone had to die?
I already discussed the difference between Original and Ancestral Sin. Repeating the same argument is not argumentation.

With charity, I say that Muslims are like Mormons , Jehovahs Witnesses, and the like.
They reject the True Word of God ( the Bible ) and depend for the truth on the writings of
one man who claims to have received his “revelation” direct from God, As usual this
“revelation” is always in contradiction with what God has stated originally. I guess then that God always changes His mind and therefore comes up with a different truth that negates all His previous truths. If this is so, then God IS the author of confusion and we are all in deep trouble!

Doesn’t the fact that the Bible ( The Book, according to Islam ) came centuries before the Koran mean anything? Doesn’t the witness of those at the crucifixion ( John , Mary, the
Soldiers, and others ) all atest to Christ being crucified mean anything? Doesn’t the
appearance of the Resurrected Jesus appearing to His Apostles, Disciples, and many
others and showing his wounds mean anything? Roman records of the time say that Jesus was crucified with two thieves and no one else. Even Flavius Josephus and Pliny The Younger, both are historians, record the crucifixion of Jesus as an actual event. No
one else was crucified in His place. There is too much historical evidence to prove otherwise.

Why the use of the lamb and the daily sacrifice since the time of Moses up to the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem after the life, death and resurrection of Christ?

We are all sinners. We continue to sin. But the only one who can atone for sin to God is of God Himself, for we are mere creatures.

At Jesus’ beginning ministry at the River Jordan, the dove of the Holy Spirit appeared above Christ, witnessed by St. John the Baptist and his followers…‘This is my Beloved Son, for Whom I am well pleased’…Here is the the oneness of God in the dimension of 3 persons…Persons are not gods.

There is a psalm of Isaiah that defines the outward persona of the coming of the Messiah, the Savior…the image was one of that of a suffering servant.

Only the Blood of Jesus, the Sacrificial Lamb, can atone for our sins. There is nothing we can do outside of repenting, seeking forgiveness, but it does not wash away our sinfulness.

Jesus not only is Atonement for sin, He also broke the power of death over mankind. The bonds of Satan were broken. Breaking the power of sin and death over us, by offering His life, the only Innocent One, True God and True Man, Jesus reconciled the world back to the God, now called through Christ, Abba, Father. And that we were not just redeemed and restored, we became His Sons and Daughters through Christ.

Breaking the power of death enabled the Apostles to heal in Christ’s name. But the greatest gift of Christ’s death and resurrection was the virtue of hope. We may sin, but we repent in the sacrament of confession, we are made free and whole again, Christ’s Body and Blood nurtures and strengthens us, and thus what we receive is a new life in this world.

Only through Christ and the power of His forgiveness acting in the Sacraments that now today is no longer linear, meaning I did all these sins in my life and today I am the sum of my entire life’s sins. Having new life in Christ, He alone our justification, enables us to begin each new day as a brand new person. New life, new hope, future, not passive individuals.

Finally, Christ gives us a new vision of our neighbor…it is Christ Who stands at the door of the heart of every human being. If we mistreat another human being, we also mistreat Christ Himself…all this accomplished through His crucifixion and resurrection from the dead.

Reading between the lines, these gave me the impression that your allah is an inadequate creator.

So your allah made man ( Adam) imperfect from the start. Your allah according to muhammad seems very fond of making junks and rejects. No wonder your allah’s angels question him. Tsktsk…their goes allah’s immutability.

I only know one thing angels don’t question God - the True Living that is. Unless this so called god in the quran is just another angel disguising as a deity.

Yeah your allah wants all his subjects begging for his forgiveness and mercy. How egoistic, sadistic and tyrannical.

One angel desired for the same authority. However this angel can’t show LOVE and GRACE because he has fallen out of it.

But do you really KNOW HIM?

Do you Know Him as a Friend?

Do you know Him as your Defender?
