Why my priest ignores me?

I sent him a request to be friends on facebook and after a week since he did not accepted me,
Why should he be expected to accept a Facebook friend request from a parishioner? If you sent a Facebook friend request to your doctor, or your dentist, or your child’s teacher, would they be expected to accept it? Perhaps he just wants his own privacy and a private life with his own circle of friends? Maybe he’s just a private sort of guy?

I know, when he helped me with a situation, he replied a few days after and I understand that. Our church is big, that’s why we have 2 priests.

Wowww, take it easy! I have the previous priest as a friend on my Facebook and not only me, he has a whole bunch off people from the church as well, he was with us for the last 5 years. Take some chamomile tea and relax!

Thanks! What would you do? I feel like I have a crush on him 😭😭😭😭😭 this is just horrible, I never thought that can happened to me

Take it easy? I think what I was getting at is that a priest is entitled to a private life and ought not to be expected to automatically accept Facebook friend requests from parishioners.

I would think that not all priests want to open up their private lives to their parishioners, or be friends with lots of people. Some people are private people, why should priests be expected to be any different in this regard?

Then I think you should actively try to avoid him, go to Confession with another priest, avoid parish ministries or activities which would bring you into contact with him, and leave him alone on Facebook.

He can likely sense it. Just decide not to have a crush, stay professional 🙂

If you don’t want comments, then why come on a message board asking for advice?

If you take exception to my comments, then please point out where I have been rude or offensive in those comments.

Sometimes we do not like the advice we are given, but if we’re not prepared for advice we don’t like then perhaps we shouldn’t ask for it

I feel extremely sad because my priest is ignoring me in a bad way that it makes me cry.
It sounds like you’re really struggling. I bet there’s more going on in your life than you’re letting on. There are resources available if you need to talk to someone.

Everybody else except you has been respectful. I did not look to be in this situation ok? You can report me if you want, I don’t care. I will pay attention to the other comments except yours. He is the one who is looking at me at church, now, I cannot go there to pray just to avoid him, just to make you and everybody else here happy I womt even talk to him anymore, that way I will pleased you and the most important person ME!

In all charity, and I think you agreed in a post, it does sound like you may have a crush on him.

So, since you are married and he is married to the church there is nothing that can go anywhere that would not be a grave sin. I would do as others have said and avoid him or be sure to be with a crowd when around him. Avoid his facebook page, even if means you need to get off of facebook. Also,if it was me I would also sit toward the back of the church during Mass, so as not to be able to see him so well as things that come into our eyes lead to our thoughts.
That way there would also be no confusion as to who is looking at who.

You may consider going to confession to another priest. It might be possible, besides being cleansed of your sins, he would be able to give you some very good advice, as it would be coming from a priests point of view.

Then maybe just remember whenever you see a priest and he is wearing black, it is because he has made a vow to detach himself completely from this world and serve God in the Church. I’m sure you would not want to lead a holy priest into any type of grave sin.

God bless

You are like something from starsky and hutch my friend ! I like to think you made some sort of cool pun as you Perp walked the stalker outta there.

Which ones?
Can you google mental health and your location?
There must be many challenges for an immigrant adjusting to a new country. Look into it and find someone to talk to. You can get things off your chest and receive some guidance as you go along.

OP, it’s certainly easy to grow fond of priests because of their excellent personal qualities and I’m sure we all have our ‘favourite’ priests from over time for different reasons. If you were fb friends with your other priest it may feel like a personal rejection when the new priest isn’t about that.

He’s probably just being super professional and if a recently ordained, sadly has probably had recent training about appropriate boundaries/ what not to do as regards friendships with parishioners in case things are misinterpreted . ‘Crushes’ happen too - I’ll be honest I find it difficult to watch Father Mike videos because I find him attractive and I recognise that this is stopping me listening to his message so I looked for similar advice elsewhere. Bottom line - the priest is there doing a very special job. He is there serving us all and we don’t have any rights over his personal time. Many a priest dips into his personal time to go above and beyond for the people as it is. Some of this is in all probability something you are cooking up in your own mind if you are prone to overthinking . I am a huge over thinker and when I like someone on a friend level I can be clingy but I need to remember that that person doesn’t owe me anything. Please try to be at peace and don’t leave your parish I am sure you have many gifts they can use

Actually yes, good point. At least until this is in perspective for her

Absolutely! And that’s why I chose not to watch as I’m not past that yet. I’m not that far along on my journey yet. However I do have my own priest on the handmaids of the precious blood website who I pray for when I remember to( sorry, father X) which I believe you may have pointed me to so thank you 🙂

You just don’t get that level of (rhymes with bad grassery ) in the protestant Church 😉
