Shhh
We’re not mentioning that Miracle…
Seriously? Please substantiate that with something Biblical..The first miracle of Jesus clearly show that it was used for intoxication and not for any holy purpose.
I have heard of alcoholics anonymous but I have not heard of meat-eaters anonymous or of vegetarians anonymous or of milk drinkers anonymous, or of tea drinkers anonymous, etc. Alcohol is a dangerous drug and alcoholism is a dangerous disease. According to the CDC : Excessive alcohol consumption cost the U.S. $223.5 billion in 2006 alone.Alcohol has basically only one purpose…So the purpose is just to get intoxicated and to have a feeling of merry and happiness.
But you’ve heard of Weight Watchers. That’s the more accurate corollary—of course alcohol can be a problem. So can anything not used in moderation.I have heard of alcoholics anonymous but I have not heard of meat-eaters anonymous
Why do you suppose that you have to be over 18 years old to buy vodka, but there is no such age restriction on buying carrots, apples or cupcakes? But you’ve heard of Weight Watchers. That’s the more accurate corollary
Wrong - there are numerous studies showing that red wine especially is rich in antioxidants and that moderate drinkers do better (at least in relation to cardiovascular disease and complications of Alzheimers) than non-drinkers. Possibly doctors should recommend it if they don’t.Thanks-AlbMagno; Susanna &AINg for saving my face. Alcohol(including beer ) drinkersl.continue your habits if you really do not feel any guilty conscience but don’t try to sell the idea that it is for some thing other than getting an intoxication feeling or get intoxicated. The hollowness of the argument of the drinkers that it is good for health is exposed by the simple fact that no doctor ever recommend it for non drinkers. If at all there is any benifit it is more than compensated by its ill effects.
In Bible you can see that drinks/wine is always associated with getting intoxicated and enjoyment. In the first miracle of Jesus listen to the words said by the chief steward after tasting. The purpose for which the wine is used not only there but everywhere is clear from those words.
Any way, even if the church has not stipulated so ,it is only appropriate to keep away from alcohol at least during lent.If not possible ok,but don’t justify citing some invalid reasons.
No harm? You called it Satan’s drink! You have almost come to my side!Enjoy,no harm,no prohibition. But is it not better to enjoy less during lent? That is only my point.
