Because the actual aim of the Novus Ordo wasn’t the use of vernacular language. Latin was meant to be retained, unfortunately the ambiguous language allowed for the use of vernacular language to spread to the entire celebration of the Mass. Why was a whole new mass written instead of just translating the Latin mass to English?
I don’t buy the argument that the NO is more authentic to the ancient form. There’s no historical proofs to back that argument and you can’t use a time period where in the early Church was forced to celebrate in secret and in hiding and say that we need to adopt those same practices.
