The abrahamic ‘god’ is narcissistic

the definition:
A pattern of traits and behaviors which signify infatuation and obsession with one’s self to the exclusion of all others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one’s gratification, dominance and ambition.

I read the bible and this is all I see. Everywhere. Where is the god who calls himself merciful, loving, compassionate? Other than his say so, what evidence is there?
Of course the response is always the same. You are a pathetic, stupid human suck it up - God can do what he wants because its his will and you can’t understand.
as reen said, might is right
to questions and argue is to sin
to accuse? well that’s just downright damnation.
oops I’m damned and going to hell again.
I think reen put it perfectly … “the emperor has no clothes on”.
Out of the mouths of babes comes truth. The learned stand in the parade and cheer the emperor as he displays his fine clothes. They can’t see it yet they cheer him on because of his say-so that he is wearing wonderous clothing. Only the “naughty” and “disobedient” child, who was probably chastised by his parents, spoke up and said blatantly that the emperor is naked.

I can just imagine the learned taking this child by the hand and telling them, “no you don’t understand, you must have faith to see the emperors clothes”

Why is maltheism irrational?

That He hasn’t obliterated you yet. More so than that, that He was willing to take to Himself that which you deserve.

the abrahamic “god” has not obliterated me yet … i suppose thats a matter of opinion. There are a great many people who would desire nothing more than to be obliterated. Just some food for thought.

obliterated defined:
tr.v. o·blit·er·at·ed, o·blit·er·at·ing, o·blit·er·ates
  1. To do away with completely so as to leave no trace.
  2. To wipe out, rub off, or erase (writing or other markings).
That he payed for me? I assume your referring to Jesus and the passion. This makes me wonder, what crime have I committed and what am I guilty of to deserve torture, being beaten, scourged, crucified and killed 🤷 that “god” can take my place? what crime have I committed? I have never killed anyone, never raped anyone, never molested or abused anyone or any child. I have never mistreated any animals, I have never stolen from anyone, I have never committed adultery, I have never fornicated, I have never been drunk, I have never taken drugs, I have never viewed pornography, I have never gotten a gain for myself at another persons expense or demise. I have no one, not one living soul who accuses me of committing a wrong or crime against them. What have I done that “god” should die for me in my place?

It’s like an innocent person on death row and another comes to say “I’ll take their place”. The question is, why are they on death row to begin with when they have committed no crime 🤷

Clarification
“god of abraham / abrahamic god” is a reference to the god conveyed in the bible NOT the true God. It would be a whole new topic, but I do think the bible conveys who God is very poorly.

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment (Mt. 5:21-22)"
never raped anyone, never molested or abused anyone or any child. I have never mistreated any animals, I have never stolen from anyone, I have never committed adultery
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Mt. 5:27-28)"

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect (Mt. 5:43-48)."

How are you doing on perfection?
It’s like an innocent person on death row and another comes to say “I’ll take their place”. The question is, why are they on death row to begin with when they have committed no crime 🤷
Your refusal to admit your guilt before God’s perfect Law condemns you by it. For those who have said they are without sin are deceived and the truth is not in them.

These are just my thoughts and opinions. My :twocents: , or 1c
You really know how to open a can of worms reen. The question you raised strikes straight to the heart of people who love God. Like the lance that pierced Jesus. A final blow, in our agony called life comes the pierce of the lance and it hurts the most because it strikes straight at the heart.
:ouch:

anyways, I’ll give it a rest for now

don’t mind the signature … I thought I’d put a new spin on how the ‘will’ of god can be viewed from a human perspective

God creates us imperfect, expects us to be perfect which is impossible and then condemns us for being … imperfect? and from that follows our … deserving of gross injustice and sufferings like befell the child 🤷

What an easy and comfortable excuse. Humans are condemned for not attaining a goal that is impossible from the outset since perfection belongs to god alone. I shall create a fish to swim in the ocean yet I shall decree that to escape eternal torment at my hands it must fly like the birds of the air.
How am I doing on perfection? … I’m doing the best I can. What crime have I committed to deserve death? name a crime I have committed for which I deserve torture and death, or name a crime I have committed to deserve eternal hell?
How am I doing on perfection? … as good as a human can. Must I apologize and repent from my humanity?. Is being human a sin for which I need to be forgiven? perhaps it is for a god completely obsessed with his own glory.

I get the impression it is a taboo to ask in Christianity “for what crime am I condemned to death?”. You must simply accept that you are a heinous criminal condemned to die and to escape execution at the hands of the most merciful, you must confess to some vague crime committed by your ancestors some millenia of years ago. I know its taboo and worthy of damnation in Christian theology, but I will continue to ask “for what crime do you condemn me?”

Hmm, getting a bit of topic. I’m sorry about that. That’s just some to my thoughts and how I see and understand things.
Thankyou to everyone who likes to converse with me 🙂

He created man good. Man rebelled. Our sin is the result.

Adam and Eve were perfect.
How am I doing on perfection? … I’m doing the best I can.
Not good enough.
What crime have I committed to deserve death? name a crime I have committed for which I deserve torture and death, or name a crime I have committed to deserve eternal hell?
Murder, adultery, oh, and the other 8. Crimes against the Infinite demand a punishment that is infinite. Otherwise God would be unjust.

No, not for being human. For being a sinful human.
I get the impression it is a taboo to ask in Christianity “for what crime am I condemned to death?”.
No; you just rebel against the answer because you don’t like it. You don’t like it because you’re in rebellion against your God.

No; I reject the answer because it is unjust and a false accusation. See above.

The thread is called “why Pray”.
I’m providing evidence that there is no reason to pray. It simply dosnt do anything at all. My life is exactly as rollercoaster like as yours.
I dont pray, you do: It dosnt affect anything.
God told Adam there was one thing he couldn’t do. Obedience was Adam’s test. Adam failed. He not only disobeyed God, but to make things worse, he blamed God for causing his disobdience. :doh2: sheesh!!!

God said to pray. A simple request right? Therefore, Don’t argue
40.png
tom:
Try praying for a child with one arm to have a new one. Thats nice and altruistic. God cant do it. It’s too hard for him. He can “cure cancer” if medicine and surgery are also involved, he cant do anything thats not already going to happen without his “intervention”.
Did God say don’t pray because it does no good? NOPE!!!

Multiplying food is fine. Where is the God Who multiplied food
for hungry children before this event? What kind of a God is it,
Who apparently thinks it’s righteous behavior, on His part,
to multiply food for this group of children, but not for millions of others?
If He can stretch out some foods, why not rice? for other children.
What is this? - A spiritual ‘lottery’ - where the blessed get fed?

God set this all in motion. He is responsible for every tear and
every hurt a child suffers. I don’t give a hoot about adults,
in a limited sense. They can often fend for themselves.
The point is not that a group of adults managed to feed hungry children.
The point is why were these children hungry to begin with?

What kind of scriptural God is so self-centered, and self-involved,
that His ‘plan’ is more important than a 3 year old kidnappped child,
or a child suffering for any reason.

Aye.

Well the story of the endless burito is excellent. And a film was made it is said?
Marvellous. We have cast iron concrete evidence then. God has been proved.
It’s as I have said, today there are vast numbers of cameras, cameraphones, vidieophones. It seems god is usually a little camera shy. The miracle of the sun was witnessed by tens of thousands, including reporters. And nobody took a picture. Now *thats *what i call a miracle.

We have 97000 catholics on this forum. Could one of them at their next miracle take some footage and pop it on youtube. It would immediatly bring anyone outside the faith into it and cement world peace.

A grand reply, uglygal. Thank you.

As I said, earlier in this thread, the adjectival gets quite a
workout - when one says, outright, that given beliefs
do not at all reflect Godhead.
[You refer to the abrahamic god. I think of the God of scripture.]

I hope that the following will be addressed.

quote: reen12
That one might say that things happen for God’s own reasons, is to fail to reply
to questions which pertain to the horrible suffering of a child kidnapped at night,
in Portugal, taken away suddenly from love and warmth and protection.
What part of the ‘divine plan’ is this?

Where ‘applies’ - All works to good, for those who love God.

A 3 year old child knows naught of any of this, or ‘trials’ which
make one stronger, or ‘testing our faith.’ That incident happened
as a result of a level of evil that is impossible to compass.

If the mother of Christ has not compassion for that child, asking her son to intervene,
what am I to make of the water to wine, in Cana?
He interevened then.

God is so far beyond human scriptures, and a claimed incarnation of Godhead.
To state that God set this all in motion, is to state, as well, that God is responsible
for each moment of suffering, endured by a chld. Especially a child who has no one there to hold and soothe and comfort.

Jesus is said to have lain in a manger, with loving parents watching over him.
The soft noises of nearby animals sang him to sleep.
Where was that comfort for the child taken away?

A grown man, at the height of his powers, suffered
3 hours of physical agony, on a Friday afternoon.
That does not a thing to ‘justify’ the horrible suffering of a 3 year old,
taken suddenly from Mommy and comfort and love.

At least his mother stood at the foot of his cross as he suffered.
This 3 year old child had no one

Consequently you need to beleive that a zombie 2000 years ago saves you by jumping into crackers and booze, and by eating his flesh he wont kill you and torture you for all infinity. Thats your salvation.

The man on the cross, who had healed so many was mocked. Why did he not come down from the cross, when he had the power to do so? That is if he had the power he claimed to have.
It has been said that Jesus was a madman, a charleton, or he was who he claimed to be. It is for us to choose.
None of us can explain why suffering continues or why the God of scripture chose to allow His son to suffer on the cross, to suffer through the heat of day, to die the death of a slave. Why this way to demonstrate Love instead of overthrowing the Romans who occupied the city and country?
What are we willing to do in response to the sufferings we see?
Do we hear the cry of the poor? Are we willing to step forth in faith? When Kathryn Drexel saw the abuse and poverty of minority peoples, she said “Somebody should do something.” In response, she heard, “Why don’t you?” She used her riches to do just that.
The miracles of Juarez began with prayer. Prayer led to action. Action led to people being fed in greater quantity than human indeavor alone.
Are we willing to allow the power of God to work through us, to heal us of our own infirmities? Are we willing to be set free of our own captivity or do we cling to the circumstances, to the injustices of life? Do we choose to look at the problems or the possibilities? Like the woman with a hemorhage, are we willing to touch the hem of Jesus and be healed or do we question as the Apostles how He could possibly know who touched Him, who it was who drew power from His Love?
Prayer may not change our circumstances. People continue to suffer under the war caused famines of Sudan and Dafur. Yet it is the people of these regions, Sudanese who lift their hearts in prayer who refuse to be bound by what they cannot control.
It is Peter, it is each of us, focusing on Jesus as He bids us walk on the water. It is prayer that keeps us from being overcome by the storm. It is Jesus who multiplies our small gift of self, who feeds the 5,000 with two fish and 5 loaves of bread.
It is the God of Love, the God of Scripture who remains close to the broken hearted giving them reason to sing, even if those reasons cannot be expressed in the limitedness of human vocabulary. If God is Love, then he who abides in love, who acts in Love, abides in God and allows the power of God to act through him/her.
