Why the surveillance memo matters

The memo intended but failed to show surveillance abuses at the FBI. It’s underhanded effort to protect President Donald Trump and discredit the investigations into Russian election meddling. This was a clumsy hypocritical conservative campaign to end Mueller’s investigation.Again just another example of the republican inmates running the asylum
You are way off base! Oh dear!

The FISA courts are jokes. They approve 99% of warrants sought. They are a rubber stamp. They don’t care about being misled. They don’t care about law and order anymore than most in government. FISA courts should be the scandal.
That’s what I was wondering, are they doing their job providing a needed check.

He helped to write a goodly portion of the memo for goodness sake.
Yep. And read what he says about it in the full transcript.
I did. And he in no way is exonerating the FBI of wrong-doing and/or stating the memo is factually incorrect.

Much of what he said is what I said in response to PaulinVA, regarding the memo, and this was before I even read the article citing Gowdy’s comments on the memo.

Come now. He says that there may be a handful of of people in the FBI that he has issues. McCabe not being one. He thinks that the FISA application was lacking but his case is weak; he doesn’t like the provenance of the dossier, and hopes that this a one-off. So do I. I hate to think that we will have a series of Presidential candidates whose foreign affairs personnel are Russian agents! He undercuts Trump’s narrative (and yours) bigly.

prove that they received fiction
I recall the head of the FBI said it was “Salacious And Unverified”
That would go into the fiction aisle until it is all verified and deemed true.

Unlike you, I do believe, like Gowdy, that without the dossier no warrant would have been issued, moreover, to use a Yahoo news article as further corroboration of the dossier, even though they came from the same source is disingenous.

And if you disbelieve this, then the only way to prove otherwise is to declassify and release the FISA applications.

p.s. I still believe that at the heart of this Russia Trump collusion is the dossier, for which we have seen, heard and read much about in the media ad nauseam.

People are underestimating the investigations. Right after many people become complacent and assume the Fisa memo wasn’t all it was hyped up to be, the next bombshell is released. There was a lot of behind the scenes stuff being revealed at the same time the memo was released.

Josie is right; What a load of schiff!
Of course she’s right. Thanks for the warning Josie.

The Republicans are planning a replay of Russia’s strategy from the general election in preparation for the mid-terms. Instead of the Clinton emails, they are going to “release documents” at regular intervals to suck all the air of the room when it comes to conversations in the media about real issues, like how terrible they are at governing or Trump’s role in the Russian attack on our election. Each “document” will be met with extreme outrage and an accompanying misinformation campaign, and will be amplified by Russian trolls and bots on Twitter and right-wing media sites. It has already been reported that Russian Twitter Bots were responsible for making the #ReleaseTheMemo hashtag go viral on Twitter:

This is information warfare pure and simple, and they don’t care who they take down - last time it was Clinton, this time it’s the FBI. As long as Fox News and the folks in the alt-right alternate universe make enough noise, they may be successful once more. Maybe this time the main stream media won’t get sucked into amplifying their message, but I doubt it. The only real thing that can stop them is for principled Republicans in the House and Senate to put country over party and call them out. Unfortunately, Paul Ryan and the House Republicans are now totally on their side. It’s like the Death Eaters have taken over the Ministry of Magic.

The FBI, at least the higher echelon, is not the victim here. The American people have been the victim and the truth needs to come out!

Wow. Salacious does not mean fiction. Unverified is not an inherent quality, like fiction, but one belonging to a moment, and to some fraction of the elements of the dossier. What has been proven fictional?

How so? The FBI, from multiple sources, learned that Trump had a Russian agent on his team, which was having meetings with other Russian agents to assist in the campaign. What would you have the FBI do on behalf of the American people in this case?

I have never heard of OAN. Those first two video interviews are hard hitting -
especially the first one!
Some people don’t want the facts or the truth!
