,
Ah, hah…your Christian roots must have come from John Calvin. Let’s see… Calvin believed that if the Bible doesn’t say we can do it, then we can’t… And, for those who followed Martin Luther… if the Bible doesn’t say that we can’t, then we can.
Don’t believe me, then research your Protestant, non-Catholic Christians roots.
How did you decide which version of Protestantism it was that you were going to follow? Why did you pick a Calvin branch over a Luther branch…or vice a versa? Just wondering.
Am I wrong? Do you know where your “modern”, “Christian” beliefs came from?
Please go back and read the first few posts here. The Rosary
is a prayer of the Gospels. The biblical references for the Rosary are found throughout the Gospels.
Let me add that it is not a Catholic "requirement” to pray the Rosary, just one of many ways that Catholics Christians and non-Catholic Christians can connect with Christ.
Catholicism is a very rich and encompassing religion that is universal and is the perfect expression of Christianity, a Christian expression that transcends. It transcends race, culture, country, time and so on.
The Catholic Church represents the Full Deposit of Faith. Simply, defending your beliefs by asking for justification of another’s beliefs, without any effort to understand the other side, doesn’t make much sense.
Christianity and Christ cannot be and should not be minimized or summed-up by using a handful of bible verses. I encourage you to continue your journey.
The Bible is a Catholic Book, therefore, all of it, the entire Bible, supports Catholicism in one way or another, when read and understood in context.
If not for the Catholic Church, we wouldn’t be having this debate today.
No Catholic Church (the first 1500 years of Christianity) equals - no Protestant denomination today.
So many Protestants here seem to forget that and seem to reject, or deny Christian history today…why is that?
One cannot begin to connect the “Christians dots”, without first connecting the “Catholic dots”.
So, when you ask a Catholic, “Where is that in the Bible?” my response is, “Have you first, bothered to look yourself?”
We are all here to try to help each other understand the differences in our faiths but the burden of proving a Catholic belief cannot be placed on Catholics, because we were here first. If someone decides that, they want to “re-invent” Christianity, 1500 or 2000 years after the fact, then the burden is on them….
In other words, why don’t you explain why it is that we Catholics cannot pray the Rosary?
And, if you are a Christian today, then why aren’t you a Catholic?
Moreover, of the 36,000 different non-Catholic, Protestant Christian denominations and sub-divisions of Protestantism those exist today, in your estimation, which one is the best expression of Christianity?
Some Protestant denomination allow gay marriage and abortions and some are apposed. Some Protestant denominations believe in Predestination and “Once Saved Always Saved” (OSAS) and some do not… In some Protestant denominations, they believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and some do not and some non-Catholic Christians pray the Rosary and some do not and the list goes on, up to about 36,000 different and unique belief systems and different rule-sets. .
Are you beginning to sense a theme here?
How do you explain these different "Christian” beliefs and how do explain non-Catholic Christians, who have no problem with praying the Rosary?
I hope this helps. I look forward to your response…
Thank you for your post.
