This has to do with moral law and natural law.I’ve heard this question, phrased in different ways, but basically coming down to the same thing:
Why would God Almighty who is so far beyond our comprehension, so powerful and almighty, care about our personal sex lives and who we have sex with?
What’s a good answer to this question?
Using that as a basis, they will begin asking other questions or phrasing comments about it. like “The church is so obsessed with sex. Do they really think God cares about all that?” “Why would God care about what I do with my girlfriend on a Friday night, when there are much bigger things happening in the world, like earthquakes?”
Your responses please.
Not just spiritual law.
Using our bodies for their intended purpose is following God’s commandments even without ever knowing what they are.
It doesn’t take belief in God to accept the moral law of human nature. Agnostics and Atheists get this. Buddhists understand this. Socrates and Aristotle taught this. People throughout the ages know that true happiness can only come through living according to our true nature. We are a monogamous species. We are a heterosexual species. Living in accord with natural law brings happiness, living a life in opposition to natural law–for our species-- brings discord.
Bringing God into this…Man is made in the image of God. Therefore we are seekers of that which is TRUE, GOOD, and Beautiful. Living in accord with natural and moral law is true. Living something other than a moral life is false and doesn’t bring happiness.
Christ came that we might have life, and might have it abundantly.
The Gospel preaches much about what we must do to be happy.
Moral law and the laws of nature also bring some amount of happiness.
God actually wants us to be HAPPY. Christ came to show us the way to this happiness.
