Why would God care who we have sex with?

I’ve heard this question, phrased in different ways, but basically coming down to the same thing:

Why would God Almighty who is so far beyond our comprehension, so powerful and almighty, care about our personal sex lives and who we have sex with?

What’s a good answer to this question?

Using that as a basis, they will begin asking other questions or phrasing comments about it. like “The church is so obsessed with sex. Do they really think God cares about all that?” “Why would God care about what I do with my girlfriend on a Friday night, when there are much bigger things happening in the world, like earthquakes?”

Your responses please.
This has to do with moral law and natural law.
Not just spiritual law.

Using our bodies for their intended purpose is following God’s commandments even without ever knowing what they are.

It doesn’t take belief in God to accept the moral law of human nature. Agnostics and Atheists get this. Buddhists understand this. Socrates and Aristotle taught this. People throughout the ages know that true happiness can only come through living according to our true nature. We are a monogamous species. We are a heterosexual species. Living in accord with natural law brings happiness, living a life in opposition to natural law–for our species-- brings discord.

Bringing God into this…Man is made in the image of God. Therefore we are seekers of that which is TRUE, GOOD, and Beautiful. Living in accord with natural and moral law is true. Living something other than a moral life is false and doesn’t bring happiness.

Christ came that we might have life, and might have it abundantly.
The Gospel preaches much about what we must do to be happy.

Moral law and the laws of nature also bring some amount of happiness.

God actually wants us to be HAPPY. Christ came to show us the way to this happiness.

Homosexuality isn’t a disorder. If you declare that homosexuality is a disorder, I could then exclaim that religion is a disorder.

It is a disorder. The parts don’t fit.
Is masturbation a disorder? Is fellatio amongst unmarried persons a disorder?
In what way is religion a disorder? That’s like saying sexuality is a disorder.
It’s as much a disorder as homosexuality…(it’s not) However, one could easily argue that the belief in an invisible supernatural God is a disorder.
Do you think sex between husband and wife is well ordered or disordered?
Sure, nothing wrong with it, so long as all parties consent.
Do you think sex with a child is well ordered or disordered?
Pedophilia is a horrific crime. Children cannot form consent to have sex with an adult.
Do you think sex with a horse is well ordered or disordered?
Animals cannot form consent to have sex with a human, it is abusive to the animal.
Do you think sex between two men is well ordered or disordered? Why?
So long as all parties consent, no laws are broken, they can have all the gay sex they want.
The parts don’t fit.
I’m sure if you ask, there’s a few homosexuals who’d disagree with you.

Surely you’re aware that heterosexual Christians, at some point in the history of mankind, have engaged in anal sex, along with fellatio and any number of sex acts other than vaginal intercourse?

Do you spend an equal amount of time reminding heterosexuals about all the places the penis shouldn’t go?
Not any more do they fit than a man’s penis belongs up a lamb’s behind.
Again, the lamb can’t consent to the sex act, so you’re right…the penis doesn’t belong up the lambs behind.

Please explain what you meant, then.
Trolling - engaging me, ignoring the content of my posts and looking for a reaction.

Deliberately obtuse - pretending not to understand what I’ve written.

It’s called quote mining. YOU QUOTE MINED ME. You took a quote from a post and took it out of context. Not only that, but the context in which you’ve placed my quote…doesn’t even make sense, as my quote says nothing of the like!

The quote you posted, you could not possibly have concluded that I was arguing that kids being raised by homosexual parents are better off than being beaten. Such a position is certainly not found in that quote or any quote that I’ve made.
“And, if the best argument in favor of gay adoption is it’s better than a beating, you need to come up with something better.”
No where did I say such a thing or even come close to articulating such a stance. The quote you posted, says nothing of the sort, nor could a person even think that’s what I was implying.

You’ve failed to produce a quote proving your claim, as no such quote exists, nor can anything I wrote be construed as holding such a position. I anticipate an apology is forthcoming.

Yes?

Please, instead of attacking me, explain what the quote you accuse me of taking out of context was supposed to mean. Please. Explain your position, not mine.

I never attacked you. I defended myself when the intent of my posts were mis-represented.

I’ll just repost the clear intent of my post…

That’s an outlandish comparison. ( I’m referring to the above quote)

Ask a child whose beaten on a regular basis by his heterosexual parents, if he’d happily have been adopted at birth by a homosexual couple who would provide for a stable, loving, nurturing and safe environment.( I’m directly challenging da_nolo’s claim…this is where you quote mined me.)

Now for some strong words;

To suggest that a child being raised by homosexual parents, is in just as much danger of harm as a child who is beaten by heterosexual parents, is to seriously undermine the horrors that children of abuse suffer. ( This makes it clear that it is an absurdity to claim a child being raised by homosexuals is at just as much risk of harm as a child who is beaten by heterosexual parents.)

Is masturbation a disorder? Is fellatio amongst unmarried persons a disorder?
These are grave sins. Same Sex Attaction (SSA) is a disorder.
It’s as much a disorder as homosexuality…(it’s not) However, one could easily argue that the belief in an invisible supernatural God is a disorder.
One arguing for this case would be arguing a falsehood
Sure, nothing wrong with it, so long as all parties consent.
Consent is not sufficient to justify an act.
Pedophilia is a horrific crime. Children cannot form consent to have sex with an adult.

Animals cannot form consent to have sex with a human, it is abusive to the animal.

So long as all parties consent, no laws are broken, they can have all the gay sex they want.
Morality is not determined by what is legal.

How does their disagreement equal the truth.
Surely you’re aware that heterosexual Christians, at some point in the history of mankind, have engaged in anal sex, along with fellatio and any number of sex acts other than vaginal intercourse?
They sinned. What’s your point.
Do you spend an equal amount of time reminding heterosexuals about all the places the penis shouldn’t go?
Yes.
Again, the lamb can’t consent to the sex act, so you’re right…the penis doesn’t belong up the lambs behind.
Likewise, it doesn’t belong any other place besides the spouse’s vagina.

You wrote " things" I presume you meant ’ thinks’.

So, the Church isn’t certain? They just ’ think ’ God feels this way, meaning they are making an assumption?
Ha! Yes I meant thinks.
I don’t generally encounter people who are so literal. I think (there I go again, using the word think when in fact I’m quite certain) that others have adequately addressed the issue of the church ‘thinking’.
On issues the church isn’t certain, she says as much. On issues the church is certain she says as much. It’s really quite plain. 🤷

Nice, Davidv.

I appreciate this kind of display of logical thrift.

Zatzat hasn’t even made a sound case yet.

I’m having this exact same discussion with Zatzat in another thread.😃

However, one could easily argue that the belief in an invisible supernatural God is a disorder.

Why is it a disorder when most people have a belief of this sort? A disorder is a condition that is not normal, and that **especially violates **the normal. Religion is certainly more normal than homosexuality. 👍 It is practiced by the vast majority of humankind.

However, some religions can be perverted into a disorder, for example any religion that practices mind control to the extent that Jim Jones’ religion made possible the mass suicide of his followers. However, common sense tells us that it is a disordered religion, just as common sense tells us that homosexuality, which frustrates the normal use of our sex organs (and by which many have died from AIDS) is a disordered condition.

Anal sex is a disorder period because it is the deliberate placement of the male member where it cannot possibly belong. Also, it ain’t sanitary, don’tcha think?

Masturbation is a sin, but chronic masturbation is a disorder as well as a sin.

Fellatio is also a sin, and if it becomes the preferred and chronic form of sexuality, is also a disorder.

In other species of animal life, for example among rats, homosexuality only occurs when the conditions for survival become extremely intense. That would make it a disordered (abnormal) condition among rats.

Zatzat

Pedophilia is a horrific crime. Children cannot form consent to have sex with an adult.

I agree. But do you regard mutual consent of adults as the sole condition for normality?

What about sado-masochistic sex? Two consenting adults give each other what they want. Is this ordered or disordered sex? :hmmm:

Morality is not determined by what is legal.
Nor is morality determined by which particular God a group of people happen to worship.

In any event, on the entire premise, we agree to disagree.

There is nothing I can say that will convince you that two same sex adults engaging in consensual sex is harmless.

Nor can you convince me that consensual sex amongst adults, is the same as having sex with an animal.

Likewise, it doesn’t belong any other place besides the spouse’s vagina.
Your Church doesn’t even believe that.

Post links to valid Catholic Church sources that clearly states that the male penis doesn’t belong anywhere but inside the vagina.

There is nothing I can say that will convince you that two same sex adults engaging in consensual sex is harmless.
This is because you have no means of principally distinguishing between when it is, and is not, morally permissible to marry whomever, or whatever, one wants.
Nor can you convince me that consensual sex amongst adults, is the same as having sex with an animal.
But you haven’t told anyone why it is morally permissible in one case and not the other. So you don’t even have a case.

Nor is morality determined by which particular God a group of people happen to worship.
There is only one God. He wrote his law on our hearts. We don’t have to believe in Him to determine the morality of many things.
In any event, on the entire premise, we agree to disagree.
So you don’t really have a logical argument for your opinion?
There is nothing I can say that will convince you that two same sex adults engaging in consensual sex is harmless.
If you don’t present a logical argument, how can you expect anyone to take your position seriously?
Nor can you convince me that consensual sex amongst adults, is the same as having sex with an animal.
No one said they were. They are both seriously sinful, however.

The only one who will convince you is the Holy Spirit. All I can to is present the Church’s position.

I said:

*What about sado-masochistic sex? Two consenting adults give each other what they want. Is this ordered or disordered sex? *

You answered:

*Nothing wrong with it, so long as it’s consensual and no laws are broken. *

There’s nothing disordered about whipping somebody as long as he likes it?

Whew!

*Masturbation isn’t a disorder, unless it’s chronic masturbation?

How on earth did you come up with that?*

Common sense. Smoking a cigarette will not disorder your lungs. Chronic smoking will disorder them. Getting drunk on one occasion is giving in to temptation. Alcoholism will permanently disorder your mind.

A boy tickling another boy on the grass is a tease. A man tickling another man in the shower is a disorder in the making.

Your Church doesn’t even believe that.
