The same thing that the Church would say.

It is a sin. Repent.
Well then, right on this forum, where are countless threads by Christians openly condemning masturbation, just like there are nearly daily threads dealing with homosexuality?

Where are the Christian special interest groups that take on the sin of masturbation, just as there exists Christian groups that rally against homosexual sexual acts?

Could it be because those that do aren’t marching in the streets, proclaiming how “good” it is?

No, it’s likely more to do with the fact that majority of human being engage is said action.

If religions, governments and individuals began openly condemning and discriminating against masturbators, you’d better believe that you’d start seeing protests and marches!

Why does the church care about who we have sex with?
Do people really ask this, and not know the answer?
Really?
You’re not hanging out with my friends, are you?
This totally sounds like a question they’d ask. As a matter of fact, they HAVE asked it.
And I’ve answered it.
Probably inadequately.
But here goes.
The church cares about souls. Anything that can endanger a soul getting to heaven they care about. Anything that brings a new soul into this world, they care about. Anything that has to do with how human beings relate to one another (since people are the holiest thing any Catholic sees outside of the Blessed Sacrament) they care about. Anything that is good or bad for the soul, the church cares about.
If the church things that God cares about, they care about it. 🤷

Why oh why anyone is surprised by this is beyond me.

(1 Corinthians 7:2 RSV) But because of the temptation to immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

(Acts 15:20 RSV) but should write to them to abstain from the pollutions of idols and from unchastity and from what is strangled and from blood.

(1 Corinthians 5:1 RSV) It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and of a kind that is not found even among pagans; for a man is living with his father’s wife.

(1 Corinthians 6:13 RSV) “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”–and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

(1 Corinthians 10:8 RSV) We must not indulge in immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day.

(2 Corinthians 12:21 RSV) I fear that when I come again my God may humble me before you, and I may have to mourn over many of those who sinned before and have not repented of the impurity, immorality, and licentiousness which they have practiced.

(Galatians 5:19 RSV) Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness,

(Ephesians 5:3 RSV) But fornication and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is fitting among saints.

(Colossians 3:5 RSV) Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

(1 Thessalonians 4:3 RSV) For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from unchastity;

(Hebrews 13:4 RSV) Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous.

You wrote " things" I presume you meant ’ thinks’.

So, the Church isn’t certain? They just ’ think ’ God feels this way, meaning they are making an assumption?

No assumptions… that is why the Church would not say that any particular person is in Hell…they do not know for certain who is there, with the exception of Satan and his fallen angels…

Some things are not assumed they are known… Natural Law…just the way things are…I might not like some things that are not fair…but that sometimes it just is…

Just in case I haven’t already linked this, this link shows the Jewish roots of the Catholic teaching.

Granted, you’re not really interested in Catholic teaching and I have to respect you as a fellow human being, but the teachings won’t change. And we won’t change you.

The article is a little long, but sometimes it helps to know a little history of the opposing viewpoint even when you don’t agree with it.

Likewise, if everyone started to preach in the streets that every person had the right to masturbate while viewing internet pornography by promoting how “natural” and “free-spirited” it was, you would see many Catholic protests and marches too!

Actually you intent is quite obscure.

Zatzat:
mankind is stained with sin.why are some Christians splitting hairsWould you prevent married heterosexuals who secretly masturbate, from adopting children?
Well if it so secret, how the heck would I know about it?how/why would the kids know about it? the main idea is to refrain individuals from passing sinful styles of life from passing on to our children.they are our future and this ‘progressive’(I state that sarcastically)society that supports such behavior among kids brings forth more bad than good.True there are some individuals who try and pick and choose teachings from Christ as well as the Bible. There are several individuals who attempt to live within Christ but still struggle in sin.Though the actions among two groups are more similar than different, there is still the simple fact that at least the second are not lying to themselves anymore.Either way the world remains good or bad.there is nothing between.(this is more pondering)to shoot back to the main point, if a couple was openly putting their child into sin than it is a problem.Same with case in point no?a couple constantly putting a child into view of sin and producing an"it’s okay"title over it.
God chose to create a people who would respond physiologically to lust.
then again God created us within perfection with the choice to stay or leave. With the failure in staying, we were restricted in our abilities and introduced into new ones. sin is the action becoming astray from God to which early humans decided to
act.so maybe we were not created to respond to any thoughts as sex was not a tendency in Paradise (we did not need to and the knowledge was not there - tree of knowledge allowed knowledge of good and bad hence light and dark). so this apple(whether literal or metaphorical)created a transition into a new*'arena’which God establishes a new/different biological creation from our original creation*(the above is just more thoughts as I explore what if as I type)**
Ask a child whose beaten by his heterosexual parents,if he’d happily have been adopted at birth by a homosexual couple who would provide for a stable, etc, etc and safe environment.
it’s like this.if he was raise within such a household, he could have become numb to the abuse and thought that such activity is normal.OR,the child would refuse due to the fact that his trust is broken and no matter how many times you try to present the opportunity,it will not be taken. The third option is that yes,of coarse he would take the change, but it is in desperation. if all you present is one variable between two groups and a person disagrees with one group, well that person would naturally chose the opposite. that is not how it works in life, however. there are more than just two decisions and two possibilities.
Now for some strong words; To suggest that a child being raised by homosexual parents, is in just as much danger of harm as a child who is beaten by heterosexual parents, is to seriously undermine the horrors that children of abuse suffer.:mad: strange over emphasis on the importance of sex chromosomes when it comes to child rearing. You should first focus on love, safety, nurturing and stability.
Lets take of your last presentation here huh?you restrict the definition of harm to only physical comparison, when the word actually expands further to more than what may be seen.verbal abuse damages a child’s normal growth and into mental troubles into the future. As a parent, there is a strict importance to maintain child protection from all forms of danger…all forms of harm. This obviously includes sin. Our actions within sin harms our mental/spiritual stability and at many times physical. lets play out addiction here.gluttony. A person’s constant desire to eat is an addiction, like any addiction weakens the ability to resent and reject things that are not needed. This stretches into more actions than just eating…like a curse it will spread to other activities that we face through out the day. This is unarguably true with any addiction. This is also unarguably true for any age as well! so for that parent who raises their child in a manner that allows their gluttony for food exceed necessity, than that parent is putting their child into harm. Physical harm as it is unhealthy, but also other dangers that is still putting a child into harm regardless to parents thoughts or intentions. Those parents could be the best loving couple in the neighborhood who support their kid in all fields and love them extremely…however that danger is still there and therefore those parents are still putting their child into harms way. So do you get the above point? no matter what the situation; noticeable/unnoticeable, physical or spiritual.it still is harmful! It still puts that individual (child or not)into harms way and risks development as well as well being. It does not matter what kind or style of sin it is. It does not matter if the affect is small or greatly noticeable.there will be an issue created. No as humans we are very limited in what we can do,and maybe in that respect you might explain what may have been missed, however God is not limited.A statement that you have been trying to explain with your reason towards why there is lust. why would you support it in such an instance, but then with this you create the assumption that God would not care or bother with one thing simply because it is less evil? guess what.follow any form of evil and you will still end up away from GOD.
Not only that but whether you are a child, adult, or somewhere in between you will still be forced to deal with mental and in some cases physical hardship regardless. Do you understand what I am trying to say here? I am not saying one is worst than another or needs more attention than anything else.wrong is wrong regardless

That’s an outlandish comparison.

Ask a child whose beaten on a regular basis by his heterosexual parents, if he’d happily have been adopted at birth by a homosexual couple who would provide for a stable, loving, nurturing and safe environment.

I’ll say it again, you have a strange over emphasis on the importance of sex chromosomes when it comes to child rearing.

You should first focus on love, safety, nurturing and stability.
Your suggestion that two people of the same sex, who have totally given themselves over to their disordered attraction, can create a nurturing environment for a child is predicated on your definition of ‘nurturing’. Most studies show that children do best with their mother and father in a stable home. In a lesbian home, not only is the father not present, but his* existence* is denied.

How can it be nurturing for a child to find out that he/she really isn’t the child of momma and mommy? In fact, two mommies can’t even create a child?

And, if the best argument in favor of gay adoption is it’s better than a beating, you need to come up with something better.

About your sex chromosome comment: you can not even create a child without two people with different sex chromosomes. To imply otherwise is a lie.

Your suggestion that two people of the same sex, who have totally given themselves over to their disordered attraction,
Homosexuality isn’t a disorder. If you declare that homosexuality is a disorder, I could then exclaim that religion is a disorder.

Yes?
How can it be nurturing for a child to find out that he/she really isn’t the child of momma and mommy? In fact, two mommies can’t even create a child?
Is there any reason why you keep referring to a mother using the infantile term ’ Mommy’?
And, if the best argument in favor of gay adoption is it’s better than a beating, you need to come up with something better.
I said no such thing, nor did I even attempt to draw such a conclusion. For you to suggest I did, I dare say, is intellectually dishonest. 🤷

In any event, please quote me where I clearly argued that gay adoption is better than a beating.

Homosexuality isn’t a disorder. If you declare that homosexuality is a disorder, I could then exclaim that religion is a disorder.

Yes?
No. I hope you are not saying that homosexuality is a belief system like religion is. That makes it a choice, doesn’t it? I don’t think you want to take that position, do you?
Is there any reason why you keep referring to a mother using the infantile term ’ Mommy’?
Using child’s language, sorry if it distracts you. What would you have the child call his/her two moms?

From post #73:
That’s an outlandish comparison.

.
There. Did I misinterpret what you wrote? The conclusion from this statement that it is better to be adopted by homosexual parents than to be beaten. I asked if that was the best you could do. What is dishonest about that?

Why would God care who we have sex with?

For one thing, indiscriminate and promiscuous sex often results in disease, and sometimes horrible disease. God designed us in such a way as to be healthy and happy. The devil wants just the opposite. So there you have it. Who is really on our side with all those rules about sex? 😉

The conclusion from this statement that it is better to be adopted by homosexual parents than to be beaten. I asked if that was the best you could do. What is dishonest about that?
It’s called quote mining. YOU QUOTE MINED ME. You took a quote from a post and took it out of context.
That’s an outlandish comparison.
Ask a child whose beaten on a regular basis by his heterosexual parents, if he’d happily have been adopted at birth by a homosexual couple who would provide for a stable, loving, nurturing and safe environment.
On another note, for the life of me, I can’t even begin to imagine how you could have read that and have drawn a conclusion that I was suggesting that a child being raised by homosexuals is better than being beaten? 🤷

I mean come on, read the quote carefully, how could you possibly have thought I was suggesting being raised by homosexuals is better than being beaten??

Seriously are you trolling me or are you being deliberately obtuse?

Zatzat

Homosexuality isn’t a disorder. If you declare that homosexuality is a disorder, I could then exclaim that religion is a disorder.

It is a disorder. The parts don’t fit.

In what way is religion a disorder? That’s like saying sexuality is a disorder.

Some religions may be disordered, but others may be well ordered. Just as some sexuality may be disordered, while some may be disordered.

Do you think sex between husband and wife is well ordered or disordered?

Do you think sex with a child is well ordered or disordered?

Do you think sex with a horse is well ordered or disordered?

Do you think sex between two men is well ordered or disordered? Why? The parts don’t fit. Not any more do they fit than a man’s penis belongs up a lamb’s behind.
