Why wouldn’t God show miracles to this generation?

By showing miracles, like the Christ and Christians did according to the Bible, God will gain millions or billions of believers for FREE. Some people will convert to the Christianity and God can save the creation of God.

So why wouldn’t God show miracles now?
Miracles happen all the time. And people respond accordingly. It’ doesn’t mean conversion hits all souls or that it even means anything to the spiritually blind or stubborn.

How many times does Jesus have to rise from the dead before people who don’t believe come to believe?

The miracles, then and now, were never meant to convert others. They were/are the result of faith.

The miraculous back then, also set Him a part from other men who were claiming to be the Messiah. There were many.

The effects of the supernatural miraculous are never long lasting the way one would think. Peter, James, and John were present for the Transfiguration, and HOLY COW did it IMPRESS them.

But that didn’t stop them, (at least Peter and James) from denying Him and run scared at the time of His trial and crucifixion.

Supernatural miracles don’t have the effects one would think they would

An evil and corrupt generation demands a sign. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.

Yet, we are surrounded by miracles. All of creation is a miracle. Everything that exists was brought into existence by the Word of God - and it remains in existence by that same continuing Word. There are miracles of healing, my life being but one of them.

Some miracles are intended to be seen in the ordinary rather than the extraordinary.

Well, who says he doesn’t? There are miracles all the time.

But I think the answer to your question is like this:
  1. I think God prefers to work within the laws of nature, that He creates. He’s not bound to them, but prefers them.
  2. He wants us to freely love Him in Faith while living our lives If He were to constantly perform supernatural miracles, how many of us would actually continue to live our lives? How many people would give up their jobs and join a monastery or convent?
I think God doesn’t perform too many Supernatural miracles because if He did, the human race as a whole would miss out on a major reason He gave us the gift of life and why we are not like the angels.

God Bless

One can argue that miracles do happen still, but they aren’t recorded or televised for the world to see. People, in their own personal testimonies, have shared various incidents and even visions. Up to us to believe them or not.

I think miracles occur as God’s way to speak to the individual and make a personal impact on them, not as a way to prove himself. Maybe that’s why miracles apparently happened, but we don’t really have recordings or any proof that it happened. Because it’s not meant for us, but for the person that experienced it?

Miracles happen all the time, and some of them have all sorts of video footage or documentary evidence. People choose to believe or disbelieve, and people choose whether or not to let it affect their lives.

There’s an interesting older series on Amazon Prime right now, called Against All Odds. Basically it’s a series that EWTN might have made if EWTN were a Jewish station, and were very patriotic about Israel. There are all sorts of true historical tales of the unlikely survival of modern Israel.

Now, some of these stories are just unlikely events caused by dedicated people. But some of them are straight out, Old Testament-type miracles, with plenty of witnesses who were either enemies of Israel, or extremely secular Jews who were raised to be almost entirely ignorant of the Bible and Jewish faith, or straight up atheists who were especially atheist about Judaism. (Yeah, a lot of true-believer Zionists in the first generation of Israel were extremely angry at God, or extremely leftist and atheists; and they raised their kids to speak Hebrew but never read the Bible. Kind of an interesting bunch.)

So the show interviews some of these people. And they tell the story of this amazing miracle that happened to them and to their friends, and which is fully documented and inexplicable except by God’s direct action.

And most of them who were atheists continued to disbelieve, to the very day of their interview. They believed in what happened, they knew there was no natural explanation, and most of them believed that it was God acting to fulfill the Covenant. But they weren’t going to worship God or anything, just because He helped them out and saved their lives. They were fighting or ignoring that part, even years afterward.

Even the guys who did start to believe, seem to have taken a really long time about it. Years and years and years.

Miracles are not a cure-all. You can have all the signs in the world; but you also have free willed humans, who are stiff-necked and hate to bow their heads.

It’s a good show. Watch it, especially if you like history. But watch the actual people very closely – because it’s very instructive about what God has to deal with, when He deals with us humans.

God does perform miracles today. Each one has to be approved. Some are not.

Check out miracles reports from Lourdes. While it’s true only a small percentage of them actually get the official designation of miracle, the sheer number of them cannot be ignored.

As I’m reading this the thought came to me, why didn’t God perform miracles back before Moses, say in the time of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob.

We know the story of Joseph right? His brothers hated him because he was his father’s favorite. They toss him into a pit then sell him into slavery.

Then he falls in with pharaoh. There’s a drought in the land of Canaan & his brothers find salvation through him.

As the events unfolded I doubt anyone thought miracles were happening. But looking back it’s hard to deny the hand of God.

Likewise, when I look back on my life I see one miracle after another. While others may describe them as coincident or chance. Or luck.

Well, I don’t believe in luck.

Then again I see the hand of God when I see a 747 descend for a safe landing, so…

Everyday around 350000 Holy Masses are celebrated. So that means Jesus performs atleast 350000 miracles each day.

In addition to going to Mass daily and seeing the miraculous transubstantiation of bread and wine into Christ’s body and blood, I believe I have experienced a number of non-medical miracles. They are private communications between me and God for the most part, not things where I go rushing into the street proclaiming a miracle so that persons like at least one on this thread can proceed to express disbelief or say, “Well, that’s not REALLY a miracle”.

In any event, Jesus said, "Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." John 20:29

This is not a miracle, a miracle acts on the laws of nature, consecration affects the substance of bread and substance is a bit like the soul, it is not an element that depends on the laws of nature.
If consecration changed the color and taste of bread, then we would have spoken of a miracle …

You are 100% wrong. Everyday Jesus transforms his Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, into the Eucharist, so that we receive the totally of our Blessed Savior within us. That’s not a miracle?
No! the transubstantiation is observed by the Faith, the miracles are observed by the senses.
If the Eucharistic consecration changed the color and the taste of the bread then we would speak of a miracle

@Needy1 in the Bible God did many miracles for all to see and nevertheless those who saw were often quick to forget and turn away from God.

Such was the case with Moses and the Jews, when Moses went up mount Sinai to receive the tables with the 10 commandments he returned to find the Israelis worshiping the golden calf idol.

Jesus did the multiplication of the fish and bread for many to see, He healed the sick for many to see. But when Pilates condemned Him the same that had cheered His entry into Jerusalem were the same calling for His crucifixion.

Full of miracles happen in every moment in our life, just because you do not realize them.

With a brief prayer “Saint Michael, pray for me”, all devils must run away. Once I saw Saint Michael chopped dozens of them everywhere in a blink of eye.

Thanks Archangel Michael.
Thanks God for everything You did for us.

When I give the homeless a meal, I saw his tears. I said “do not thanks me anything, but thanks God gave to you because God loves you even you do not see Him”. [God’s miracle].

Catechism
548 The signs worked by Jesus attest that the Father has sent him. They invite belief in him.269 To those who turn to him in faith, he grants what they ask.270 So miracles strengthen faith in the One who does his Father’s works; they bear witness that he is the Son of God.271 But his miracles can also be occasions for “offence”;272 they are not intended to satisfy people’s curiosity or desire for magic. Despite his evident miracles some people reject Jesus; he is even accused of acting by the power of demons.273

549 By freeing some individuals from the earthly evils of hunger, injustice, illness and death,274 Jesus performed messianic signs. Nevertheless he did not come to abolish all evils here below,275 but to free men from the gravest slavery, sin, which thwarts them in their vocation as God’s sons and causes all forms of human bondage.276

1505 Moved by so much suffering Christ not only allows himself to be touched by the sick, but he makes their miseries his own: “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”.112 But he did not heal all the sick. His healings were signs of the coming of the Kingdom of God. They announced a more radical healing: the victory over sin and death through his Passover. On the cross Christ took upon himself the whole weight of evil and took away the “sin of the world,”.113 of which illness is only a consequence. By his passion and death on the cross Christ has given a new meaning to suffering: it can henceforth configure us to him and unite us with his redemptive Passion.

Every time I see someone filled with the Holy Spirit I see God’s miracles. Every time I see someone rejoice our Lord as their savior I see God’s miracles. Everyday I wake up and see another day I get to be with family and friends I thank God for his grace and see God’s miracles.

Finally everything and anything is called miracle, it is not in all these senses that the OP asked his question

Strictly speaking this isn’t a miracle, which is always visible (St. John the Evangelist calls it a ‘sign’). The eucharist is a mystery and can only be known through Faith. Without Faith it is merely bread and fermented grape juice being passed through in a ritual, and unbelievers can not be faulted for seeing it as anything else.
