I have no idea whatsoever what that post is meant to imply.Bradskii:![]()

It means at the end of time everything is going work out just like God intend it to . He gonna wrap it up,and put a ribbon on it and, all shall be well.Techno2000:![]()

I’m going to beat my children daily and torure them. I’m going to starve them and keep them tied up in the basement. I will emotionally and physically abuse them. But hey, it’ll be ok 'cos I’ll buy them an icecream when I’m done.It means at the end of time everything is going work out just like God intend it to . In the atheist world they don’t even get ice cream, so what’s your point ?I’m going to beat my children daily and torure them. I’m going to starve them and keep them tied up in the basement. I will emotionally and physically abuse them. But hey, it’ll be ok 'cos I’ll buy them an icecream when I’m done.
Too subtle for you, Techno.Bradskii:![]()

When I was born I didn’t have any memories. It didn’t seem to bother me. So why should being “born again” is Heaven without any memories be a problem?Memories are what makes you ‘you’. If you had my memories you’d be me. Who are you in heaven if you have no memories.
I would suggest that is an uninformed and superfical interpretation of that Scripture.Luke 16:22-26. Lazarus in heaven and the rich man in hell can talk to each other. Those in heaven can hear those in hell.
You’re a Buddhist, so I presume you believe in reincarnation. Do you remember your previous life and any family or friends from it? If not, has this caused you confusion are to who you are? And do you miss any family or friends from your previous life?Your memories are part of you. If you lost your memory you would not remember your family, your friends, your whole life. You would not be you.
How did karma - a mindless force with no intelligence - determine what is good, neutral and evil?Mindless forces with no intelligence can distinguish between different characteristics. Gravity can do it for large and small mass, karma can do it for good, neutral and evil actions.
THEI would suggest that is an uninformed and superfical interpretation of that Scripture.
I believe the Christian understanding is, no human being entered Heaven or Hell until Jesus died on the cross. When Jesus died, He didn’t descend into the permanent Hell of the unsaved, but into a temporary “Hell” where the souls of all those humans who had died (pre-Cross) dwelled, awaiting Judgement.
You developed as a person as you stored memories. You are you because of them.Bradskii:![]()

Yes Bradskii, I’m gonna have to agree with you.Edgar:![]()

Imagine waking up tomorrow and lying there with your eyes closed. You think: ‘I’ll have that muesli I bought yesterday after I’ve had a shower. Must finish the garden then before we go down the beach. Maybe walk along the coast and meet our daughter and the grandkids in the Cloey Hotel. The ol’ knee seems to be OK this morning."
You are Bradskii. Replace all your memories with mine and you become me. There’s no Edgar there any more. If you have no memories at all then who are you? You won’t even remember being a Catholic.
Granted. It would be a shock when you go for a shave. But you wouldn’t be thinking ‘what’s happened to my memories’. You’d be thinking: ‘Who’s the guy in the mirror’.Hmmm. A wee bit of biology might be involved too.
Exactly… who is who?Do you remember your previous life and any family or friends from it? If not, has this caused you confusion are to who you are? And do you miss any family or friends from your previous life?
Buddhist should be very thankful that they can’t remember anything from their previous lives - if these memories shape “who you are”, then one would end up very, very confused.Exactly… who is who?
I must admit, if you had no memory of me, your life would be very much the poorer. There’s no Edgar there any more.
When you were born, you had no memories - did that stop you?You developed as a person as you stored memories. You are you because of them.
As with concepts in Christianity, there are different interpretations of the concept of reincarnation in Buddhism. For some we are reborn every instant of our lives because we change every instant of our lives. You’re a Buddhist, so I presume you believe in reincarnation. Do you remember your previous life and any family or friends from it? If not, has this caused you confusion are to who you are? And do you miss any family or friends from your previous life?
How does gravity - a mindless force with no intelligence - determine what is heavy or light. How can gravity weigh things if it does not have a set of scales? How did karma - a mindless force with no intelligence - determine what is good, neutral and evil?
We all carry our own accumulated karma with us; it is one of the five components that make up a human being. Gods and animals carry a similar component. It is a distributed database if you wish. Your individual karma only affects you, so all the data needed is ready to hand.Furthermore, karma must do a hell of lot more than be the author and master of morality. It must be also … be aware of every deed of every human being,
No judgement is involved. Actions have consequences, that is all. Karma attaches the consequence to the action. If you throw a stone straight up in the air and it comes down, hitting you on the head, has gravity “judged” you? You are projecting a property of the Abrahamic God onto karma, where is does not belong. There is no judgement, any more than gravity is judging you for throwing a stone in the air.judge every deed of every human being,
Did gravity “decide” to drop the pebble on your head. No, there is no decision here except your initial decision to throw the stone into the air. Actions have consequences. If you don’t want the consequences then don’t do the actions. Buddhism has neither sin nor forgiveness of sin. There are just actions and consequences, with no “Get out of karma free” cards.decide on a appropriate and perfectly just reward or punishment for every deed of every human being,
Gravity does not “pull the strings of the universe” to cause its effects. Neither does karma.then pull the strings of the universe so that said reward or punishment for every deed is faultlessly administered to every human being.
