Why you shouldn't withdraw financial support from the Church because of the crisis

It’s a thorny problem admitted. It might sound naive but sometimes it’s good to simply ask “what would Jesus do?” He threw money lenders out of the church, He cursed a fig tree because it bore no fruit.

I have no answers though someone did suggest that I think it was Australia had had used the civil police force to investigate such matters and removed it from the Church authorities.

My checkbook is closed to the Church until my conscience will allow my to support a corrupt organization. My funds instead will go to a great organization that is child cancer.

I am not a sheep… I think we should retire that metaphor

You cannot use the civil police force to investigate the pope promoting a cardinal, sadly.

If my dog keeps escaping from the garden I fix the fence I don’t stop feeding it.
Not the best analogy above, but I’ll bite…😁
Hopefully you have some sort of relationship with your dog. If you dog is gorging itself on it’s food, you act accordingly, right? In the best interests of your dog. You make the changes that you deem necessary for the desired best outcome.

Doing the same ineffective things repeatedly is a good definition of insanity.
Enough insanity already. Conversion is asked of everyone from top to bottom. If misused money and power are part of the problem, then it is prudent to act accordingly.
And it is very clear that money and power work hand in hand to contribute to this problem, if not the root cause.

I personally do not think that the Catholic Church is a corrupt organization.
It may contain some corrupt people but they are not the whole organization by any means.

If I see rotten apples in my apple barrel I remove them to stop them infecting others with their rot.

You know priests who sin in the ways we have heard about are due to be punished like no other. They themselves obviously didn’t believe this would be their end but we the faithful do. This life is short and full of illusions let’s try not to fall foul of those illusions and the enemy who delights in anger and chaos.

Adequate vetting and safeguarding will suffice and removal of the ‘rotten apples’ ASAP.

Ok. Forgive my ignorance, I’m actually talking about sex scandals and the like. I’m in the UK.
Peace.

I had a priest who I thought was wonderful—very reverent, created an adoration chapel, etc. It turned out he was embezzling money from the paris
Do you have a Pastoral Council now directly involved in the treasury, administering, managing?
Maths is an exact science.
Corrupt persons can be shrewd, though. Very shrewd. And the last ones affected by any.measure.

I once had a dog who every morning waited until I wasn’t looking and then promptly escaped from my garden. I was working and I was often late for work due to this dog, very annoying. However week by week my garden fence grew stronger and more secure as the weak spots and hidden holes were fixed.
We also had a pet rabbit and we lived near the countryside and the rabbit was never killed by a fox thanks to the fence being sound.

(In all honesty there is an addendum to this tale. My pet rabbit was eventually killed by my dog! But maybe there’s something to be l rand from that too?)

Sorry, I just noticed something. My dog, when I had one, could only eat what I gave it. It’s food was restricted. Do you get my drift?

If I may add to this, in some states, non-profit institutions do not contribute to State “unemployment insurance”.

The people employed by your parish, when they are let go because everyone stopped donating, will not even have an unemployment check to help them make ends meet until they can find another job. They are not paid high wages, many live paycheck to paycheck.

When there is no toilet paper in the church ladies room, when the hall is dirty because they cannot pay the cleaning staff, are you willing to come in and do that?

How about buying altar wine and hosts, doing the cleaning of the vestments and altar linens?

When someone needs a copy of a Baptismal certificate so they can get married, who is going to process that request?

exactly my point.

Yes, you can designate your donation for parish use only. The website Canon Law Made Easy explains it.

You can use a civil police force to put a Cardinal on trial.

so all you people who are not donating to your parish, are you still sitting expecting mass on Sunday? Do you volunteer to clean the the church toilets , or give out communion, sing, read, are you still going to do that. Donate your time.

My concern is not with the cardinal. I’ve said that dozens of times. If I withhold donations, it will be because of the Pope, who is directly in authority over me (unlike McCarrick).

So you believe the Pope is the issue, yet you don’t say stop contributing to his annual collections, but stop contributing to you Parish. Yet expect mass on Sunday and a clean toilet, electricity and security if the anti catholic rhetoric invades your Parish., And believe me it will if you are one of ‘those’ parishes.

3 of the 4 parishes I belonged to over my lifetime have priests and staff that were credibly accused, sued, or prosecuted. (A couple still on the diocese payroll but removed from ministry.) I think everyone should take a look at their own diocese and see what is going on. Whether only 1% are guilty or more are guilty, the situation is very disturbing, and we should not ignore it. We should all take a look at the Bishop accountability web site and see what has been reported in our diocese and what is being reported and what is being done about it.

Maybe you can punch out the newsletter when the Parish secretary is laid off and of course the treasurer! Finance officers! Annulment officers!
