So you believe the Pope is the issue, yet you don’t say stop contributing to his annual collections, but stop contributing to you Parish.
I have said just the opposite of that. I am seeking a way to contribute to the parish without contributing to the Vatican, and people have made good suggestions about how.

After I’d written it I knew I’d made a mistake. I mean you restrict access to finances to those dealing with such things. I’m thinking like a joint bank account where more than one person has to give permission for withdrawals etc. I really don’t think we should withhold money from the Church.

According to news reports, the abuse crisis has cost the Catholic Church over $4 billion dollars in settlement payments and bankruptcies. Should I really be concerned that withdrawing my little support will damage the Church when those charged with the care of the Church have cost it such a vast fortune?

The money my wife and I donated to the Church when we were younger could have gone toward helping our kids pay for college. Every dollar I give the Church today is a dollar that does not go toward our retirement, or that could go to another charity. Why should I give a single dollar more to an organization with the Church’s history, not to mention what appears to be ongoing issues? Especially as I have not seen any real evidence of serious change in the Church, and the Church provides no transparency. I honestly question the morality of continued financial support of the Church under these circumstances.
