I agree that it sounds incorrect. How could the country hold that many catholics, whoever I saw the percentage of what catholics lived in america and it said 60% on EWTN. However I know defintelty that there are 1.2 Billion catholics and there is no uniqueness of the LDS church and Scouts outside of Utah!
Actually Jake, because of the huge population in California there are actually more LDS in California than there are in Utah and the scouting program in LDS churches is strong in California too.

I am talking about the entire country generally, but it is said to see that the occult is involved there also! We should pray for the children that they might not be tainted by the blasphemies of the mormon occult.

Jake, you stated “there is no uniqueness of the LDS church and Scouts outside of Utah”. That’s what I was referring to.

It appears that you need to firm up your facts in order to improve your presentation.

I have many good friends that are Mormon, I am Catholic and often go to their church to hear there sermons and pray to Christ with my close friends.
Code:
One of my Mormon friends used to be a Catholic but converted after he converted to baptist first. We always joke with him, and tell him to confess in both churches every week that he converted, That way he'll have the right church for sure.

With all lame humor aside, my other Mormon friend also likes going to Mass with me, he calls the Catholic church the original church, and the original Priesthood holders. . I don't think it is so un common that many people attend a few different churches, my Lutheran Friend used to do the same thing with me too. I'm just happy to know more people now that actually go to any church at all.
Cheers, and God bless, Jessup

I had two Mormons on my residence floor during my sophomore year in college. They were also nice people. I agree, many people attend different churches with friends. It’s nice to see how other people worship and come together. As long as they don’t break any rules of their own churches or the churches/mosques/temples/synagogues/circles/etc. they are visiting, there is nothing wrong. 👍

America includes both North- and South America. In that sense, the 60% figure would be more correct. I doubt that by “America” they meant the United States only.

As a Catholic I am more satsfied often when I go to the Mormon church, Though I’ve never taken communion there. Simply because of the better orginization. Why does the Catholic church not offer parrishes for young adult service in the diocess compared to the Mormons? Why does my local parrish raffle off liquer during fall festivals? It would be nice if I could actully go to mass and be around people who are not 3 times my age.

Mormons do not segregate by age, they segregate by single vs. married. They do so because their church is all about being married. So you are segregated out of the “family” wards, until you, yourself, are married. At which point, you are no longer allowed to attend the “singles ward”, regardless of your age. Until you are over 30, then you are kicked out of the singles ward and into the family ward.

But, you can check out a Newman Center. They are on college campuses and so by that very nature, have more young adults in the parish.

I’m sure if you checked around you would find a Mass that is attended by people closer to your age. They are more than likely available in communities near colleges or universities. One thing our pastor is always saying. " If you have an idea for a ministry…there is your calling." Maybe you should talk to your pastor about a Mass geared toward people in your age bracket.

Also, seeing that you are from Florida, stop and think about the number of retired people in the state. The odds are against you.

How is a mormon service more organized than the Mass? I can’t imagine any church worship service more organized than a Catholic Mass. I am truly interested in your answer to this.

What age are you segregated out of the family ward? On NOM I read something that left me thinking that once you reached 30 you were kicked out of the singles ward and into some other kind of ward for unmarried people??

Depends if the stake has a singles ward. Not all do. If they do, it is at 18 yrs old, or, the fall after you graduate high school. It is not like Catholics where you go to whatever parish you like within your diocese. Mormons are assigned their ward, which, is very organized, but has its problems. My in-laws thought their world had come to an end when their ward was divided and the friends they had for more than 30 years were put into a different ward.

I have not heard of singles wards for over 30. But a lot has changed since I was contemplating the singles ward. (And the singles ward dances. shudder) Also, some bishops let people hang on past 30 yrs. I worked with a woman once who was in her 40s and still going to the singles ward. She was very involved and committed. I imagine they didn’t want to lose her, and she didn’t want to leave. 👍

Some of the things you said just do not add up! As an ex-mormon and now Catholic It does not make sense to me how you could say the Catholic church not as organized as the mormon church. For one every church is different. My church has a youth service besides reguler services and latin services. You surely are not so closed minded to think that there are not a wide range of different catholic services.

There are 1.2 Billion catholics vs. 60 Million mormons. There us a huge difference in whats needed to manage these religions. It seems that you are not thinking openly and broadley outside of your neighborhood.

As far as the Liquer, it is being raffled off in a congregation of responsable family oriented christians who most importantly practice true christian doctrine and there is s(name removed by moderator)ly nothing wrong with that. If you do not like what is going on then surely you can find time to participate in the parties and organizes different prizes!

The remarks you made where close minded and lacked thaught and reason!

This is not true. Mormons do have special activities according to age. For example, there is the young adult program for those 18 to 25. And there is an young adult president who plans activities for this age group. Then there are the singles. They can range from 26 to 51 and 51 to 101. The point is for people to mix together in hope of getting together more permanently. Then there are young womens and young men’s organization for those who have not yet reached young adult age but who are teenagers. And they have there own activities. So, age is important also.

The mormon church is very organized and there is no difference across the board. All lds churches have the same organization if the age groups are present. Not to mention weekly get togethers. LDS chapels can be full of activities during the week. It is a well oiled machine with lds families visited by home teachers and women also have visiting teachers once a month who just pay a friendly visit to see that all is okay and to fellowship.

“Special activities” was not the topic.

But you claimed that age was not a factor but singles and marriage was. They do separate by age. The lds church is a church that groups people into ages when it comes to special activities. In fact, there are many young adult actiivities and I can not join in them because I am too old. But I can join the singles of my age group for their activities. And of course, the lds church has events for all people depending on the ward or branch.

You are a great example of a person who does not understand what they read. My posting was talking about the versatility of the 1.2 Billion catholics not the 60 Million Mormons. I know what is and is not with the mormon church but thanks for the comment. I was talking to someone, not you, about the other options they have within the holy catholic church.

just to clarify: there are 13 million Mormons, not 60 million. 👍
