How is it possible he was able to bring the cat back home…and after several weeks?

I know some will say coincidence, but pretty incredible when the very morning after the ‘ritual’ is done, the cat shows up at the front porch, Im not so sure prayer could have done that?

A lot of people will either pray/perform a ritual for something, and sometimes the desired result happens immediately, not for months/years, or at all.

The OP mentioned she lives in a smaller area, and was sitting outside. The cat may not have wandered all that far off, and when it passed by, saw OP and thought, “Aha, a human who will serve me,” (because I’m convinced this is how cats think), and it just so happened it was that cat’s particular human.

Hi, I do not think this is incredible. This gentlemen, whether knowingly or not, via his ritual, asked spirits to assist. Quite likely they did assist.

Here is a possible scenario:

Cat is scared of new home for the same reason OP is. Presence of evil spirits. Cat runs away, but maybe cat keeps watch on his old family, who wouldn’t.

Gentlemen performs ritual to bring cat back. Spirits comply, by making themselves “invisible” to cat. Cat comes home, happy to be able to be close to his family again. All in all this is a good result for the spirits; they impress upon children the power of magic and also quite possible, make the stepdad put more faith in such magic.

Keep in mind Catholics are required to stay away from witchcraft not because we don’t believe in it, but because we do. It is in God’s power we must trust, not our own power and that of spirits. As another poster said, such power is seductive especially for the young.

God allows spirits to have power on Earth, we know that, we know that this power is not infinite, but it is certainly malicious in the case of demons; and when we invoke spirits, unless we invoke them in God’s name (for instance, when we call upon our Guardian Angel) then we run the very strong risk of invoking demons. God allows this for his own reasons, just as he allows other more obvious evils to exist on Earth.

Tomorrow is mother’s day and my mom said what she wanted for mother’s day was for all of us to go to church together! Even my stepdad said he would go since that is what she wanted.

I’m still nervous about the whole situation but I feel a bit better and see this as a positive development. My mom and stepdad also agreed to take turns driving me into town on Sundays (since that is the day they normally do weekly shopping anyways) and giving me a ride home.

My brother still acts way too interested in the occult for my liking, and because of how young he is I do feel like he needs guidance in this matter and I wish my mom would discourage him from it. I try to invite him to read the bible and pray with me but he would rather play with tarot cards and talk to my stepdad about stuff like that. I’m hoping it is just a phase and he grows out of it, but it feels dangerous to me to even mess with stuff like that, especially considering how young and impressionable he is.

I’m a sophomore in high school and my brother just started middle school so he is quite young.

Yeah, that seems logical the demons/spirits, would help the guy like that, but still, surely they would want something from him for doing it though…right?

You are right about that type of thing being seductive…if I were a young person and witnessed something like this, I would be very impressed and be interested in learning more about it.

That is one way the evil one deceives people.

I don’t like to speculate too much further on the matter, but mostly the belief is such spirits want to cause the same misery which they suffer themselves - separation from God. That is what they wish to gain. See last two lines of prayer below:

Blessed Michael, Archangel,
defend us in the hour of conflict;
be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God restrain him, we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God, thrust, down to hell, Satan,
and with him the other wicked spirits
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
