Exactly…if they say it enough…soon it becomes the truth. I admire the man…the Pope…but I don’t think we would’ve ever seen Pius X kiss the Koran, or Celebrate a Mass where liturgical dancers were allowed, etc…
I don’t want to undermine this great man but this is not yet official. See how easily misinformation gets spread?

Here is a handy guide to the Catholic Mass for you women:

STAY IN THE NAVE. DO NOT COME INTO THE SANCTUARY.
Does your church not have a nave because it was built in a circle, or shaped like an octopus, or in whatever nonTradtional shape was the popular novelty last week?
Ours is a lovely church, a large semi-circle, with beautiful mosaic stations of the Cross and a similar mosaic Last Supper, and a huge, prominent Crucifix (two Crucifixes, actually), with a prominent Tabernacle.

We have thousands of parishioners and nearly 500 students in the parish school. There are numerous religious education programs for children and adults, and many organizations which foster the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. The parish participates in year-round pro-life activities. We have a choir (so-so), volunteer musicians (excellent) and plenty of cantors, readers and altar servers, both boys and girls. Both men and women are active …we never lack for volunteers in any capacity.
Then my advise is to stay on the side closer to the doors and farther away from the altar. That should be pretty easy, right? 😃
Holy moly!!!

I LOVE sitting close to the front, not far from the altar, and have even been known to look directly at the priest (“in persona Christi” ) while he is saying Mass. Bold, I know 😉
(If you get too confused and your church is too liberal then the alter is that Cranmer Table that the guy in the rainbow stole is saying some watereddown banal fabricated prayers over)
No rainbow stoles here! Just a rainbow of skin colors. We reflect the whole, vibrant Body of Christ…all colors, and BOTH genders!!!

I would leave it to theologians to determine all the times the priest acts in persona Christi but we know for sure at least during the consecration of the Mass.
You’re still not getting me…it was (in my original post) a purely rhetorical question, aimed at someone who was making, IMHO, outlandish statements.

Be honest now…is it one of those “Pizza Hut” Churches LOL…just had to ask. A semi-circle vs. the traditional Cruciform design…why am I not shocked?..is the Altar…excuse me…the Dinner Table made out of Oak or Cherry wood?

Would you mine linking the Vatican publication this where you found this tidbit?
That is not a very Christlike post, but I forgive you anyway. I am just trying to catechize you about age-old Traditional Catholic truths. !
It is Mother Church that teaches the faithful, not anonymous internet posters.

Your reasons have pretty much all been circular. Women near the altar is an abuse. It is an abuse because women aren’t supposed to be near the altar. Why? Because you say so. You might find a better reception here at CAF if your reasoning would outweigh your ability to change fonts. FYI - The cap lock key is that button to the left of “A”. I guess you could say the text thing is something that makes me shake my head. I have found the the further fringe a website is, the more font sizes, colors and Caplocks are used. Next time you are surfing weird sites, check it out and see if there isn’t a correlation.

Substance is preferable to rhetoric.

Sorry to hurt your feelings…but the majority of theology classes being taught today…which I am positive are the ones you are asking him to take, are heretical and not authentically Catholic…they are the cookie cutter, crayon theology classes that teaches that all Christian denominations are equal to Catholicism and we have to learn how to dialogue with them and be sensitive to their plight…forgive me, but I have nothing to apologize about to a heretic…
Now I’m a heretic for being a disagreeable, albeit educated and professional woman who doesn’t believe that my Church thinks that women should be treated as less than holy? I will surely go to confession and tell Father that I committed the mortal sin of being a woman who just won’t put up with buffalo snot.

The funniest, or at least most ironic, thing I have seen so far is the quote from St. Paul about women being silent in the Church. Who would have thought that the Traditional Catholic forum would be promoting instructions from when St. Paul addressed the orderly way for the laity to speak in tongues and prophesy in Church?

Or does anyone here ever read the context of the proof texts they use?

You do know a Mass can be celebrated anywhere right? Shame on my great uncle who celebrated Mass in Nazi prison and didn’t have a crucifix shaped room or an altar made of stone. Church designs are quite beside the point. You’re not there to admire the Church certain architecture isn’t required.

Great bait and switch…I never called you a heretic…I simply pointed out…as you can find in documented sources…such as books like “Goodbye, Goodmen” that what is being taught in Seminaries is not solid, Catholic Theology…nice try though.

Straw Man argument…there is a huge difference between being forced to celebrate in a place as your uncle had to do out of necessity…and I have mad respect for him!! I promise you that… and planning and building an abomination of a building with the sole purpose of celebrating man and the community under the guise of worshiping God…as can be documented in the book “Ugly as Sin” The Mass lifts you up into Heaven and your Church should inspire one to invision Heaven while there assisting at Mass…it shouldn’t inspire one to invision an Outback Steakhouse

I’m sorry for jumping the gun on John Paul’s Sainthood.
Maybe helping bring down the Iron Curtain doesn’t count, or having millions of people who aren’t Catholic admire and love him either. Myself, I don’t want to see Pius X anywhere. IMHO as the saying goes.
🤷

PS, the new Catholic University in San Diego is named “John Paul the Great” University.

Fair enough. I am all for the cross design. I just have a hard time seeing the cross design as inherently superior. I have gone to several churches that are in different designs and it didn’t have any effect other than a different point of view.

I’m sorry once again - I did not take the time to read the post entirely, I caught on the last word “heretic” and that set the keyboard on fire.:o

Yet…too bad those “congregations” that claim to have the gift don’t use it properly and therefore do not follow St. Paul’s instructions for proper use of the gift and one can only be led to believe that they are either liars and frauds or led by the Evil One. Nice try again. You know pnewton…there are probably some that listen to everything you have to say just because you have a high post count…somewhat of an elder on these boards…but I find the lack of intellectual substance in your posts and your straw man arguments quite exhaustive. Try them on someone who doesn’t know the Church existed prior to Vatican II

Isn’t the “Great” distinction bestowed on a saint by the people?

This is just typical…you actually have disdain for a CANONIZED SAINT…you don’t desire to see or hear of him anywhere…but you support naming a university after a man with a false accolade granted to him by a group of people and not THe Church…who is the only competent authority to do such. I fail to follow…Sometimes I just feel like the there is no hope…
