Will "Altar Girls" lead to Women Priests?

I hear you kozlosap…and I too am sorry if I get heated sometimes…I guess the postiive thing is that we both have zeal and both love the faith…unfortunately we have differing opinions…but we both love the same Church and are both trying to defend it the best we can…I guess in the end THe Church needs people like both of us to keep the compass needle pointed in the right direction. Hopefully when it is all said and done, our debates will bear fruit, and THe Church will be the real victor.

You know…to be honest, I am not afraid to say I really don’t know…but I do feel confident it is a title bestowed “after” a person is a canonized saint…not before 🙂

I think you missed his point entirely. Take a chill pill. You may not like what he says but at least he is level headed.
 
I will grant them this consolation…out of the only two John Paul’s we have ever had as Pope…he was the greatest. So I guess the name is fitting…how can anyone disagree with that logic?

I agree that before could be premature but I’m sure people were like “the Pope Gregory (he Great) is a legit guy” before he died.😉
 
I just checked the John Paul the Great University website. It indeed is named for Pope John Paul ll. I couldn’t find why “the Great” was added.

You’re right. But my contention is at this point he might better be called Great John Paul II. That is not to say someday he might indeed be St. John Paul the Great. But let’s not forget John Paul I who might be a great Pope in his own rite, especially since John Paul II took his name.

I do not know that I disagree with you on this. I said I appreciate the irony of it. It does illustrate the danger of proof-texting. The silence that Paul called for was in a context one would never see in a Traditional Mass. That is all. The Church in Corinth is not the Church today, nor should it be. Paul was addressing a specific problem there. If you are going to use this verse to silence women, then you should also use the verses surrounding it to allow speaking in tongues, if you desire to be consistent.
 
I can agree mostly with what you are saying here…and for the record, read my post…I never called for silencing any woman…my mother is the most wonderful woman in the world and is due respect and should be allowed a voice…and as men, we should honor all women…but I do honestly believe that women have distinctive roles that shouldn’t be blurred with the roles of men…and that women, in the end, willl be treated better and with more respect when they start acting like women again and leave the manly things to us, nasty, despicable, men!!!

I think it was a kind and honorable thing for the new pope to do to pay respect to the poor fellow that only had a 3 week long reign! On top of it all, JPll is Polish as was my Dad - 1st generation.😉
