Will America become socialist now that Biden has basically won?

There was an independent report (referenced by the moderator during the Vice Presidential debate) that indicated that Kamala Harris (based on co sponsorship of bills, votes, bills introduced, etc) was the furthest left Senator in the Senate.
In Mitch McConnell’s senate there were very few bills, if any that could be called ‘socialist’ or even ‘liberal’. This report just means that she did not vote for some defense appropriations.

Good point. But in a politically charged environment where words and phrases have taken on certain known contexts isn’t it worth your while to clarify? Just constructive criticism.

He has not won yet. There is still hope. All depends on how it goes in the Supreme Court now.

“I don’t believe in hope. Hope is a tool used by political parties.” — Pier Paolo Pasolini (rough quotation; citing it from memory).
Hah, well, then… I just need to come up with a witty quote about “belief” now. 😛

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not denying hope as a theological virtue. I just usually think of what Pasolini said when it comes to political hope.

And then they move on to libraries, roads, parks, neighborhood schools, fire departments, military, police, rec centers with pools, national parks, forest service campgrounds stoplights, bike trails, crosswalks, bandshells, pickleball courts . . . my word, it’s a wonder we’re not all bearing hammer-and-sickle tattoos.

Or does socialism only happen once diabetics are no longer paying 3-digit numbers for their insulin? 🤔

Facetiousness aside, I think it’s time to define “socialism.”

So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. — St Paul

Pray, hope, don’t worry. — St Padre Pio

Catechism of the Catholic Church 1817 Hope is the theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” “The Holy Spirit . . . he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.”

The words of Holy Mother Church and the saints give no qualifications on hope.

Hope in Christ.

I don’t think it’s healthy to look for us to deify elected officials of look to them to “save” us. or “make things better.”

Hope certainly has its place in our faith; in fact, our faith centers around it. But Ceasar isn’t going to be the one to save us.

Being in favor of same sex marriages and full term abortion provided by the government not good enough for you?

Biden’s lifelong voting record in the U.S. Senate in Delaware was a 12 by the ACU meaning Biden only votes with conservatives 12.67 percent of the time.

Yep. Agreed.

The early socialists were of a vastly more libertarian character, such as Proudhon and Godwin and Spooner. It was with the Second International, if I remember right, that the emphasis became on state ownership as opposed to societal ownership.
