The problem I have with what you claim is that there is no support in the contextct of Scripture OR the historical Church

The Bible CLEARLY
speaks of Church Authority (Matt. 16:15-19, 18:15-18, John 16:12-15, 20:21-23).
Jesus fervently prayed for the UNITY of his church (John 17) - and that it remains ONE as he and the Father are one.
This was shattered by the Protestant Revolt. Can you honestly say that the tens of thousands of differing, bickering sects are the ONE, united Church Jesus prayed for? Absolutely not. They teach different doctrines:

Some believe in baptismal regeneration - others don’t.
Some believe in soul-sleep - others don’t
Some believe in the Real Presence - others don’t
These are not minor issues but major ones.

Jesus only established ONE Church - a visible, united Body of believers (Matt. 5:14) - not a splintered mass of denominations and sects or an *invisible *Church.

If you’re not part of the Church established by Jesus, then you’re not part of his Body and you need to come home.
You’re absolutely right Jesus did establish only one church Eph.4:1I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

But that church is not the CC nor is it most of the Protestant denominations. The bible defines God’s church in Rev.12:17 17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

So, the end time remnant church keep God’s commandments something neither the CC nor 99% of Protestant churches do in that they don’t keep the Sabbath of God.

You’re correct. Now this may sound confusing but I was raised Catholic, left the Catholic faith and became a Baptist, which I still am, I went to school and got ordained and I use the non-denominational status because my congregation is at nursing homes where there are different religions that I preach to. So inorder not to offend anyone group I use the term non-denominational. I preach to Catholics, Baptist, Methodists, Lutherins. and so on. I hope you understand where I’m comming from and why I chose the non-dom. title.
I do understand sir. This whole, “Only the Catholic Church is right” is depressing. They always identify themselves as the only body of Christ Jesus our savior, when in fact scripture says and leads to the conclusion that any teaching that is based off of scriptural truth, is the true church identified and pointed out by Christ Jesus. Scripture is the basis for everything that man does in the church. If the church takes presedence over the Holy inspired word of God, then we need to sit back and review where we are coming from. I don’t say the Catholic church is wrong, I just know they are not the only one true church that will get you to Heaven.

Take Care and May God Bless you this Christmas season.

**Gee, Hisalone **-
I’ve been waiting for a response to your false accusation.
Nothing more to say?

Ummm . . . yeah
- just what I thought . . .
No Elvis nothing false about it Spot on
I am a member of the body of Christ yet you deny me, by denying me you deny Christ you deny His body.

rev In reading you post I see you are a ND ( this I knew) now you say you preach to Cathloic,Baptist, ECT,
Now do you tell a Cathloic he can have a Baptism for his infant grandchild but can not have Baptism for his granddaughter,Can you keep all the faith straight,Thats like shootimg craps, how can you keep 4 Bible and be right all the time or wrong,I do not have my glasses so I hope you can read this,PEACE
Like I said I chose the Non-dom. not to offend any of them. I tell them to do what their religion says to do. I have been doing this going on 3 years and I have not had one single problem from any of the denominations. They are free to attend or not to attend. If they disagree with what I say trust me they will tell me. I also preach in general terms. When we get to a part that might be of some conflict I will tell them this is what the bible says as far as baptism I tell them that Jesus was baptized as a adult but your religion may practice infant baptism and there is nothing wrong with that.

WRONG.

Col. 2:16-17

**Let no one, then, pass judgment on you in matters of food and drink or with regard to a festival or new moon or sabbath.****These are shadows of things to come; the reality belongs to Christ. ** **The Mosaic Law was the forshadowing of Jesus - he is the REAL thing.**We worship - as did the early Church in the New Testament - on Sunday, the Lord’s Day. PS - Jesus IS the Lord.

No, you are self-divroced from the Body of Christ. A separated brother.
By rejecting his Church - you reject HIM (Luke 10:16).

Remember - it is the CHURCH that has the final say on earth (Matt. 16:15-19, 18:15-18, John 16:12-15, 20:21-23) - NOT you.

There are many earthly institutions that claim to be the One True Church…
  • The Catholic Church claims to be the one true church.
  • So does the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LDS (“There is no salvation outside the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Doctrine, p.670))
  • And the Jehovah’s Witnesses (“Consider too, the fact that Jehovah’s organization alone in all the earth is directed by God’s holy spirit or active force.” (Watchtower, July 1, 1973, page 402))
  • The Iglesia ni Cristo (’‘People who embraced the true church will be saved not because of the good deeds they have done, but through God’s merciful act of commissioning messengers entrusted with words of reconciliation.’’ (PASUGO September/October 1986, p. 20))
  • The International Church of Christ (“There is one church! There is one God. There is one kingdom of God and this is it! (The Great Commission, audio tape, Weger/Rock, Hodge/Hamann/Fulcher/Fields))
  • The True Jesus Church (“The True Jesus Church is the true church restored by God through the Holy Spirit of the latter rain. She is the revival of the apostolic church in the end times.”)
  • The Philadelphia church (“Some in the world try to label the PCG a cult. Actually, we are God’s only true representative on this earth!..”( The Philadelphia Trumpet, p. 19 March, 1994))
  • The local Church (Witness Lee) (The only way to follow the Lord absolutely is to go the way of the local church. (Witness Lee, The Practical Expression…p.94))
  • The House of Yahweh (“The One Body of Messiah IS The House of Yahweh!” (What Yahweh’s Feasts Mean to You p.78))
  • The Hawaii fellowship of the Universal World Church (“a voice thundered and uttered these words “This is my daughter in whom I am well pleased. As Jesus, my son, paid the price through his faithfulness upon the cross… my anointed daughter, Miss Velma, has paid the price through her faithfulness at the golden altar. Therefore, all who will believe in her, will receive my gift of eternal youth which is new revelation Mamre.” (The mighty Miracle of the new Revelation of Mamre p.49-50))
  • The 7th day Adventists (”I saw that God has honest children among the nominal Adventists and the fallen churches, and before the plagues shall be poured out, ministers and people will be called out from these churches and will gladly receive the truth…But the light will shine, and all who are honest will leave the fallen churches, and take their stand with the remnant” (Early Writings, p. 261 ))
All true Christians make up the One Church. We are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.
Once we are in Christ we are automatically members of His Church. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.
Christ is the head of the church and the church is subject to Christ.
The Church Jesus Christ founded is not an earthly institution, not an earthly organization and not a series of buildings.

WRONG.
The Church is made up of Catholics - not tens of thousands of perpetually splintering sects.

It is made up of those who believe in ONE baptism for the forgiveness of sins and those who submit to the God-given authority of the Church and are nourished by his Body and Blood.
It is made of those who confess their sins to his priests, who have the power to forgive sins or hold them bound in heaven and earth, handed down to them by the Apostles (Matt. 16:19, 18:18, John 20:21).

YOU may not like it but this is what Jesus prescribed and when you reject his Church, you reject him.
Again - HIS words, not mine.

You’re right - there ARE many earthly institutions that claim to be the One True Church - and they were all established within the last 100 years - except for ONE.
The Catholic Church was established by Jesus Christ 2000 years ago. the others - including your church - are ALL man-made institutions, while the Catholic Church was extablished by God Himself. 👍

I guess that is where we differ, brother. And I am sure that the only agreement we could ever find here is to agree to disagree.
May God bless you abundantly.

Dude, the one true church is not a physical/one denominational church. It is not physical in this aspect. Anyone who abides in Christ Jesus and the teachings of the Holy Bible, is the one true church following the rules established by God thru our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, the Catholic church was the first, your point? The first car was made in America, but other countries make cars just as good (they follow the same guidlines). Now if a church goes out of the guidelines set forth by our Holy Father in his devine inspired words (Holy Bible), THEN we can say that this church does not follow the scripture the way it was set forth by God, thru Christ (AKA; Mormons, Jehovah Witness, etc.). Bottom line, if the Catholic Church dropped off the face of the earth tommorrow, the Church that Christ intended would still exsist, as long as people went by the teachings of Christ Jesus in the Holy Bible. The Catholic church is important in the realm of the formation of the Christian faith (no denying this fact), but the Catholic Church, interpreting from scripture that they are the one true church, is not the case, except when you are talking to someone who embraces Catholic Doctrine.

Walk into a Baptist church and ask the minister who/ what is the one true church? He will answer, any church that serves the will of God as it is written in the Holy Scriptures, with Christ Jesus as its head. Catholics are special only in the fact that they started a solid foundation that formed the first Christian church (I thank them for that). Salvation exists outside the Catholic Church (They haven’t cornered the market). Any church that teaches the truth of Scripture is “The Body of Christ”, plural, not singular.

Take Care and May God Bless!

Bill I was ordained 3 years ago. That don’t mean I got ordained in 3 years. I don’t have any said HR that I have to work at the nursing home I volunteer my time, but I did obligate myself to be there once a week for services. I went to school for years before I became ordained.

I very much want to quit the catholic church and become an
Assembly of God member. Am i doomed for hell?

I don’t fit in with the CC, there is no enthusiasm there.
No. You will NOT go to hell. Do not be “guilted” into staying where you are. I’m smiling because as a former Catholic myself, I thought I would “go to hell” if I left the Catholic church. Rest assured, it’s just not true. Catholics will be very surprised to find that there are not just “Catholics” in Heaven! You’ll find Baptists, Lutherans, Vineyard Church people, Assembly of God people, and folks from nations that meet in home church’s because their political leaders won’t allow ANY church to form in their nation. Folks who have no bible or church building, but know the love of Jesus.

However, I will caution you to beware of cults and I encourage EVERYONE, Catholics included, to not depend on man alone to provide you with an answer as to the legitimacy of a church. Check the rites, rituals, rules, regulations, and beliefs that your church performs and ask the question, Can this be backed up in the bible? Ask more questions, “Why is the church doing what they’re doing?” Get an answer from your church leader and ask him to back up their statement by referencing it in the bible.

NO religion has it 100% correct. NO religion is perfect, nor will it ever be perfect, because no person or leader is perfect! Only Jesus is perfect.

Our God is a loving God, a King of Kings, and HE is OUR Father! He created the Universe and He created YOU. He knows the hairs on your head, He knows the number of your days. HE knows your heart. If you’ve accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, do you really think He’d send you to hell because you went to an Assembly of God Church vs. the Catholic church? No.

Just as an FYI - nowhere in the bible does it say that the Catholic Church is the church. That is a man-made statement.

Seek Him and you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart.

God bless you.

Peter was the rock that the church was to be build on ok but what church? I see nowhere where it says the Catholic church.
From the beginning there was only one Church, the Catholic Church. Even secular historians will tell you that.
Just church now this church could mean that Peter was to build upon his {Jesus"] teachings. His {Jesus’} teachings is the foundation that Jesus laid to build upon. Peter was to continue to teach or to build upon what Jesus taught. Colossians 1:18 “Christ is the head of the church, which is his body…”
You quote rightly there. The Catholic Church is Christ’s Body.
1:25 “God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his message in all is fullness to you Gentiles.” Ephesians 1:22-23 “And God has put all things under the authority of Christ, and he gave him this authority for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body, it is filled by Christ, who fills everything everywhere with his presence.” The church is the body of Christ, not a orginized single church with a name. We have given church’s names. Neither Jesus or Peter said a name of the church. Now Peter was to go out and continue the teachings that Jesus taught. Peter and the others were to teach others so they can help spread the Good News that Jesus taught them…
Peter, Paul, the apostles, the early disciples, the early christians. They all belonged to only one Church. - The Catholic Church.

Just one thing to remember, all protestant denominations started 1500 years after pentecost. If they are truly Christ’s Church do you think Christ would start building churches 1500 years later?

Now don’t take this to mean that I am somehow saying that everyone outside of the Church is damned. God’s mercy knows no bounds.

These reasons might be unsound to you, but to me they aren’t to me. I did have my reasons and these might not sound appropriate to you but they are to me. If it weren’t so I wouldn’t have gone so far as to leave the RCC.
And that is indeed true. But one would hope that when it comes to church, what determines once decisions is not subjective feelings but objective truth. Objective truth is not a case of being true for you and not true for me. Objective truth is simply that. Truth.
I was raised in a Catholic environment and I was the most religious person in my family. Hadn’t it been for these reasons which were sound for me I wouldn’t have taken the steps I did. (It’s not like the CC is too strict for me. On the contrary… )
Jesus Christ is my Lord and He is my Saviour and to Him alone I turn and in Him alone I trust.
He is my focus and I want to please Him alone.
Well then, let us put that to the test. If He is your Lord and saviour then you will follow what he has willed. What He has explicitly WILLED is the Catholic Church. That is very clear in the Bible.

The Church at Pentecost is the same church we have now. Then it was an acorn now it is a full blown tree.

Christ did not build a church for no reason. If He wanted to He could have written the scripture Himself. But not He did not do that. What He did is establish the Catholic Church.
That’s why I don’t believe that leaving the RCC is condemning Francispie or me to an eternity in hell.
No God is so much more merciful than that.

But Francispie’s reason is self centred. When he goes to worship it is still about him, what he gets out of it, how satisfaction he gets out of it.
We got to Mass to praise and thank the Lord not feel hyped up. You can get hyped up somewhere else.
I cannot speak for Francispie’s motives as I can only examine myself. I disagree however with the notion that leaving the CC in and of itself is reason for us to end up in hell.
I disagree with that notion too. And I doubt that Catholics think that either.

But God will lead you back to the Catholic Church because spiritually that is our true home here on earth.

Those who leave for doctrinal reasons though maybe well intentioned are also mal informed.

No. You will NOT go to hell. Do not be “guilted” into staying where you are. I’m smiling because as a former Catholic myself, I thought I would “go to hell” if I left the Catholic church.
Just goes to show how ignorant of Catholic doctrine you are then. No wonder you left.
Funny that considering that all protestant denominations are man made. Only the Catholic Church has her origin in Jesus Christ.
NO religion has it 100% correct. NO religion is perfect, nor will it ever be perfect, because no person or leader is perfect! Only Jesus is perfect.
Yes there is the Catholic Church. When we speak of 100% here let me note that I am speaking of doctrine not practice. The Catholic Church has got it correct because she has Christ’s promises to back that up: Promise 1: The gates of hell will not prevail against her. Promise 2: Send the Holy Spirit to guide her into all truth.
Our God is a loving God, a King of Kings, and HE is OUR Father! He created the Universe and He created YOU. He knows the hairs on your head, He knows the number of your days. HE knows your heart.
Amen. 👍
If you’ve accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, do you really think He’d send you to hell because you went to an Assembly of God Church vs. the Catholic church? No.
Correct He will not. But if you accept Christ then you must also accept His will. And one thing that He clearly WILLED is the Catholic Church. Do you suppose that He would start a church just so every Tom, Dick and Hary can start their own in opposition to His (Christ’s) own church.
[qutoe] Just as an FYI - nowhere in the bible does it say that the Catholic Church is the church. That is a man-made statement.
Sorry by it is true. Expand your reading. Read a little bit more history. The Church at Pentecost is the same Catholic Church. For 1500 years there was only 1 Church.

And yes you are right it is a man made statementl. But the Church is Christ made.🙂
Seek Him and you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart.
But pray for an open heart and an open mind. And pray to bow to His will not your own.

Like I said I chose the Non-dom. not to offend any of them. I tell them to do what their religion says to do. But how do you get to the truth? Is infant baptism really the way to go? Is adult baptism? Or not baptism at all?

Do you think that in something as important as the salvation aspect of Christian life, Christ would want us to muddle about in uncertainty not knowing which way to go?

Is God really that careless about His plan that He doesn’t care whether we are on the right track or not so He doesn’t really give us proper instructions?
