Why do you feel the need to leave the Cathloic Church the Crurch that are Lord started
.Most of the preach in the Assembly Of God are all about money Jim Bakker, Mike Murdick and the other.
Morris Cerullo, just to name a few
Come now, this isn’t really accurate, any more than it is accurate to say that all Catholic priests are molesters.

My husband grew up in the Assemblies of God. Although his entire family has left the A of G due to political wrangling, they will be the first to say that there are many wonderful Christians, including pastors, in the A of G.

This denomination has one of the largest and most active overseas missionaries outreaches of any church. Many of their missionaries have been martyred for the Lord.

And many of the pastors are devoted to Jesus Christ, not money, and they preach good sermons and do a great deal of good works in their communities.

In our city, it was the large Assembly of God church (around 5000 people) that opened their doors and invited the 40 Days for Life group to have their Opening Rally in their church building. It was quite amazing to see nuns, friars, and priests walking around the lobby/coffee shop of the huge A of G church, and even more amazing to see the pastors and other leaders in the A of G church embracing the Catholics as their brothers and sisters!

Please, everyone, be careful of what you say in your zeal to express your thoughts about the OPs questions. Remember, Jesus said that those who are not against us are with us.

Take from a protestant who wants to be Catholic, hold on to what you’ve got.
I do wish the Catholic Church sharred in the enthuiastic spirit of protestants though.
But my search for the truth has led me to Catholosism.👍
Awesome, and I hope you come home soon, MrZetterlund! 👍

Yes, sooner or later if you care about the Truth, you’ll realize that worship is not for your own enjoyment, it’s for His Glory! The two do not necessarily go together. Until then, if staying in the Catholic Church is going to make you bitter about Catholicism, by all means leave for what you consider the ‘truth’. However, never stop seeking the truth… if you are sincere it will lead you back.

Another bitter Catholic that leaves and curses their Catholicism because they didn’t have good music, or fellowship, or a good sermon, didn’t like the priest, or youth programs, or day care, or fresh donuts and coffee after mass or whatever is not likely searching for God, though. I’ve known plenty of these people, as some were my friends. They usually left because of some sort of disagreement. Then again, so did the rich man when Jesus told him to sell all of his possessions. I myself stopped practicing the faith because it was ‘boring’ and ‘I didn’t get anything out of it’. But eventually I came back because God led me back to the fullness of Truth. And I have my fill of it… and then some.

Wow, nice comment glad to see you see us as fellow believers and not some lower form of christian…Like God can’t mature us as believers because we are taught just from the scriptures…

I very much want to quit the catholic church and become an
Assembly of God member. Am i doomed for hell?

I don’t fit in with the CC, there is no enthusiasm there.
uh:shrug: The Church is not like quitting your job at Walmart in order to have more fun at the Target store across the street.

Jesus did not establish a Church for you to feel good. We are here to know Him, Love Him and Serve Him, not the other way around.

This is one thing I don’t like about the Catholic view. You have this view like protestant churches are commercialized. We really do not seek the protestant church styled worship for our own enjoyment, it just seems more spiritual and from the heart. And spirituality plays a big roll in the church. the church should have a good sermon, and a good priest, and fellowship, and a good youth group. Why can’t the Catholic church just adopt some spirituality from the protestants?

you don’t know ME, that’s for sure. but i know what you mean, most catholics i know aren’t too enthused about talking about Jesus and related “things”…😦

but you don’t leave the Church Christ established just becaus of the sinners you find therein…

there are enthused catholics you just have to look for them…

socialize with the a of G but don’t quit the original Church because to do so is to harm yourself in ways you may not see in the beginning…

He did desire that His church be on fire and not lukewarm or cold…I had a pretty radical conversion experience and been walking with the Lord for all most 40 years…I used to be is a singing group that sang the scriptures…We were in ALOT of churches and there were ones that were dead or dying…No vibrancy or joy of the Lord…No fellowship or ministry time…I encourage anyone to get where they are on fire…

What part of The Church is not here for entertainment purposes do you not get? 🤷

Now getting involved in ones Parish and making a difference, while loving and serving Our Lord is one thing. But we are not going to Mass to be entertained, set on fire or whatever term you like.

Joy is The Mass, no need for outside fun and games of vibrancy in order to get people “on fire”

We are here to serve God, not the other way around.

We have a very vibrant church…Not outside fun and games…The joy of the Lord is our strength…You don’t think congregations of His people out side your catholic can glorify God…You don’t think any of your congregations are luke warm or dead? I think you might be surprised when you get to heaven of all the non catholics there…peace to you…

I just get the feeling that you are a “my way or the highway” type…I could be wrong…

How can YOU tell what’s going on in someone’s heart? I ask this question with all sincerity. I have Protestant friends who describe their Catholic relatives as going to church, saying the prayers, trying to be “good” but in their opinion they fall short because they don’t have Jesus “in their heart.” How the heck would they know that?

What does more spiritual look like? Eyes closed? Swaying to the music? Arms in the air? Speaking in tongues? Yelling out an occasional “Amen?”

I’m not sure what you’re wanting Catholics to adopt? At a Catholic mass I worship the Lord. I pray to Him. I sing praises to Him. I ask for His forgiveness. I hear his word. The Priest gives a homily that typically goes along with what I’ve just heard from the gospel reading. I pray some more. I confess my faith. I offer peace to my neighbors. I receieve Jesus in the Eucharist. I thank him for the mass and I strive to go forth and be His light in the world.

What exactly do you think us Catholics are missing? I’d really like to know.

I’m not referring to Protestants here, as they have a totally different type of spirituality than Catholics, I’m referring to Catholics, who should NOT be going to mass for those reasons. If you are a Protestant convert to Catholicism and are used to those things because it’s part of your spirituality, then great. But after you are there for a while, you’ll understand the reverence behind a Catholic Mass.

It’s one thing to be in awe during the Mass, and that’s great - I think we should all be in awe - but the Mass is not a Protestant service, it’s something much deeper. It’s not something we should be paying attention to the music, or each other. It’s about Christ. All our focus should be on Him and we must give Him proper respect and reverence. When you come into the Church (hopefully), you will find out that at a Mass is not about the people, it is totally and completely about Christ. After mass, there’s plenty of time for fellowship, social gatherings, etc. I’m not dissing those programs. But you have to be aware that they all take away from Christ if you focus on them as excuses. Christ may be found in those programs to various degrees, but nothing comes close to His presence in the Mass, and that needs to be emphasized. The Catholic mass is not about the people, it’s about Christ. We come together in community to worship our Lord and our focus needs to be on Him. Those people I told you about could have found what they were looking for in a different parish, but they chose to leave the Church altogether, which makes my point that they were not looking for God, they were seeking human satisfaction.

I understand where you’re coming from about it seeming more spiritual and from the heart at Protestant Churches though. I’m not saying we can’t learn things from Protestants, we most certainly can, but I’m saying there is a reason the Mass is solemn and reverent and serious. And when you learn why, you’ll understand what I mean. Until then, you might want to get a book on the Mass, perhaps “The Lamb’s Supper” by Scott Hahn (which I have read and connects the Mass with the Book of Revelation), or Jimmy Akin’s book on the Mass (I think it’s called “Mass Confusion” but I’m not sure, as I haven’t read it yet.)

sigh that’s the thing You shouldn’t have to look for enthused Christians!
MrZetterlund, you don’t recognize an enthused Christian by their appearance and actions, necessarily. I love Jesus with my whole heart and I am ‘enthused’ about the Good News he brought us. But I am a quiet, reserved person who would probably not fit your stereotype of a ‘good Christian’. All my enthusiasm is in my heart, and I have a deep spiritual life. I don’t show it out on my sleeve like the Pharisees did. And we all know what their spirituality was like… I am quiet and reserved in person and you would probably think God was not in my life at all if you base my Christianity on my outward appearance and ‘enthusiasm’.

And it goes both ways too. Just because a person shows great enthusiasm does not necessarily mean he’s a good Christian. Many people just get caught up in the moment and after worship, they are regular citizens that go about their everyday business and pretty much forget about Christ. It’s true of a certain number of Christians in all denominations. That brief outburst of enthusiasm might seem extremely spiritual, and perhaps it is, but Christ is lacking in the rest of the person’s life. But because we don’t necessarily know all of these people and they certainly seem to love Jesus and be in the Spirit during worship service, we automatically assume they are spiritual people. Not necessarily so.

I get this feeling that we appear to you to think that only Catholics will be in Heaven. I can see why you would get this feeling, but it’s not true. We know that not only will people of other Christian denominations be there, but those of other religions or no religions will as well. Not only will I be surprised who’s in Heaven, but I’m pretty sure you will be too.

Thanks, I’m sorta new here, but I got that feeling from some here right off the bat…I had a very cool Catholic neighbor who is as radical about Jesus as I am…We bonded very easily…He knew I loved Jesus, I knew he did…We didn’t act like we were “seperated”…Never will be as we’'ll see each other in heaven…

I’m talking about the total alienation from one-another. Hence, “looking” for a good Christian. Our chuch members cling together like magnets! I’m not saying adopt that crazy pea-brained mumbo-jumbo, (that my church DOESN’T DO, by the way.) But to come together as a chorus and sing praise wouldn’t be so bad. now would it?

I apreciate your post the most. I find nothing wrong with it, really:thumbsup:

Once a kid in my youth group talked to me about how hypocritical he is outside church, but when he’s in church, it’s like he’s not that way anymore. And he feels new. Just like how Jesus said: “Come to me who’m are burdened and heavy laden, for I will give you rest”-Jesus gave rest to the sinners. And if my church can offer that in the name of Christ, then by God it’s a good thing. Again, we’re not those crazy penacostal maniacs who wave our arms and speak in tounges!! I havent met one non-spiritual or un-faithful person in that church. And it’s a big church. And seeing as how we aren’t so alienated from one another, I’m pretty certain of that. Many of my friends who attend my church proclaim the gospel (we practically tag-team preach in school.) Using what the ministers have taught us. Jesus said you would know them by their fruit.

Your comments are the EXACT reason why I hate going to the CC.
Your attitude is Grin and Bear it.
So if a person doesn’t like it or feels empty…too bad so sad.

one word…Indoctrinated!👍

I think your Lord and God Jesus Christ had to Grin and Bear it.

But, if that is not for you don’t do it. 🤷
