Hey james
why don’t you Re-Read this thread and see how other CATHOLIC people
threw negative comments at me, made fun of me, and dampened MY enthusiasm
for the Assembly of God church!

As you can see, someone threw the “forgive them father, for they know not what they do”
bible quote at me, like I am a roman soldier or something.

yeah, Jimmy, go re-read the thread and then maybe you will understand why i
responded the way I did.
And besides, I was pretty truthful…I doubt that person will enjoy mass as much in 4 years
as he did today. 52 weeks a year gets pretty old.
👍
It’s funny. I converted 15 years ago. The Mass is still as beautiful for me today as it was 15 years ago. I am still thrilled to go every Sunday, and every daily Mass that I can. Not to mention Holy Days.

As far as the Forgive them Father for they know not what they do." comment you are referring to. Let’s be fair here shall we? That happened in response to your post calling the Catholic Church a cult, and saying that God wasn’t with the Catholic Church. See posts 96 and 97.
Thank You Lord Jesus,
that you have shown me CLEARLY that the Catholic Church is NOT
where you are. For the people in this Cult are truly not serving YOU.

Lord, you know I want to serve you, and I will serve you by realizing YOUR blood covers my sins, and NOT my works.
Thank you Lord for welcoming me into your loving arms into the Assembly of God church!
and the response.
“Forgive them (him) Father for they do not know what they do”.
Doesn’t look so out of line when you look at in context now does it?

Please don’t try to act like a scolded puppy when in fact you were the agressor.

Exactly, thank you. 🙂

Do you believe in the Sacraments of the Church,do you believe inthe Spirtual Words of Mercy,do you believe in the Liturgical Seasons of the Year, just what do you know about the Church that was started by Our Lord Jesus Christ

Regarding “confession taxes”, there was never any such thing. Certainly not vatican approved, if there was ever such an abuse then that would have eventually been delt with. Though yes, due to poor communication of the day it might have take awhile for such abuses to correct.

Regarding molsatation charges, you’re in some very hot water there buddy. I find your comment completely offensive and out of line. I do expect an appology. Here’s an education on what “pastors” have done

Those are just four examples, one can go on. Don’t lull your self into some false sense of security thinking “well that’s those churches, not mine”. It can happen to any church, yours included…

The one thing I agree with you is this, that we have maintained an unbroken apostolic faith for 2,000 years. We have managed to do so despite tragidies like the sex scandle, despite Priestly abuses which did happen (and were eventually addressed once the Vatican became aware) as well as other problems introduced into the Church on earth due to human nature. But we have stood the test of time, and will continue to do so. Just to make it clear, if it wasn’t already. I’m not suggesting that there has never been scandal in the Church, or that everything (outside of Apostolic teachings, which are protected) has been perfect. But I did feel the need to correct your unfair and untrue accusations. I realize you probably grew up hearing about this stuff from everywhere. The world likes to cast the Catholic Church in the most negative light possible. I would ask however, that partiulcarly before you start posting inflamatory posts, you do some research. Thanks
Sorry, I was just reacting to what the other guy said about how my church is heresy or some crazy thing and how it lacks spirituality because (God forbid) we’re protestant.
The confession taxation thing did happen, I’m not so sure if it was vadicant approved.

I do realize that Catholosism is the true church of Christ. And now that I do, I can see why Catholics see such a problem with protestants. It kinda bugs me now, I wish all protestant religions would unite with the Catholic church.

But as for my outbursts, I was just offended that appearently my puny little poser church doesn’t compare to the high and mighty Catholic church. As though our faith wasn’t real.

I very much want to quit the catholic church and become an
Assembly of God member. Am i doomed for hell?

I don’t fit in with the CC, there is no enthusiasm there.
Sounds like you need to “retreat” from the battle ground, or be taken captive which may or may not affect your eternal soul, but who wants to take a 50/50 chance with their soul?

Ask your parish for the “Cursillo” movement, if you like song and dance and a community ministry that places you on clouds. Second I would recommend you relearn, or unlearn any traditions you may have picked up that are not Catholic Teachings or lack there of from the True Apostolic Catholic Church and get brought up to speed today, by signing up for an R.C.I.A program or compatible program.

Find out first "When and “Who” began the “assembly of God” Church’s, you will not be surprised they all began with in the last century, and compare these founders with “When, Where and Who founded the Catholic Faith” before you decide to pick up and leave the rivers of water flowing with life eternal.

Peace be with you:) Hail Mary…

That’s quite understandable, the OP threw up a flare that turned into dynamite. In these types of discussions, emotions tend to get hot and people - including me - write hastily to defend our faith and don’t realize that others don’t necessarily have the same mindset as we do. Yes, I do wish a lot of protestant denominations would unite with us too. Unfortunately, there are too many doctrinal issues for now. Although I do see a few changing - little by little - some of their beliefs to a more Catholic understanding, and that’s encouraging. Perhaps not during our generation, but in the next few generations.

Your comments are the EXACT reason why I hate going to the CC.
Your attitude is Grin and Bear it.
So if a person doesn’t like it or feels empty…too bad so sad.

one word…Indoctrinated!👍
The Catholic Church does not serve “A la Carte”

The Church is not here to serve you, it’s the other way around

I don’t agree with your last line here.
The Church is here to Serve GOD.
The Church is here to tend to “The Flock”.
It is for THAT reason we can say the Church does not serve “A la Carte”.
The Church preserves and teaches that which God has revealed.
We are not here to "serve the Church but rather to be a witness to God’s Love in the world and to follow the Good Shepard by remaining firmly in His Flock, which is The Church.
It is up to us to accept Church teaching, even when it is hard, and do our best to move closer to God. To dispose ourselves ever more openly to His grace.

Peace
James

Sorry poor choice of words and for not being clear:o

I meant the last sentence that one should not expect to be entertained, by sitting there waiting for Church to make us feel good.

Sorry again for the misunderstanding in wording. Just like my mouth works quicker then the mind, the same goes with my fingers and the keyboard;)

That,s very true, but heaven won’t be filled with just believers from your roman catholic church…
And the Catholic Church never ever said other wise. However, in the end we all become Catholic when we get to heaven. God started only one church and this church continues on to heaven. That is why we have the communion of saints, the Church triumphant, the church militant and the church suffering.

So even if you are not Catholic now, should you get to heaven (and I think you will but of course that is just my opinion), you will be Catholic then. You will realize the truth that the Catholic truth that the Church has been proclaiming throughout the ages. And yes, you will says, hhmmm, the Catholics were right after all. And you will be glad that we are. 😃

So in the end, everyone one comes Home to the Christ’s Church.

sigh that’s the thing You shouldn’t have to look for enthused Christians!
It all boils down to how one defines “enthused”. I am not the foot thumping, hand clapping type but I am very, very much enthursed with our worship.

I believe that there are some who seem enthused with a say “evangelical / pentecostal” service but all it is is riding along with the euphoria of the moment.

Enthusiasm is confirmed with the faithful following of Christ even in times of spirtual aridity. THAT is true enthusiasm.

It is much like a mother who is very ill and the last thing she would like to do is cook and care for her family but she does so any way because she loves them. I doubt very much if she feels enthused when she is doing these chores.

In the case of a guest at dinner, it is not necessarily those who wax on lyrical about the cooking (but pushes the food around her plate) but rather those who may remain quiet but helps him/her self to second and third servings. THAT is enthusiasm.

He did desire that His church be on fire and not lukewarm or cold…I had a pretty radical conversion experience and been walking with the Lord for all most 40 years…I used to be is a singing group that sang the scriptures…We were in ALOT of churches and there were ones that were dead or dying…No vibrancy or joy of the Lord…No fellowship or ministry time…I encourage anyone to get where they are on fire…
Being where the FIRE IS, is not necessarily where the TRUTH IS.

We need to get where the TRUTH is becuase Jesus said I am the Way, the TRUTH and THE LIFE.

Jesus will supply the FIRE if we ask Him to.

Oh there is much you can do to be enthused. But if God wants you to experience aridity in the same way as all the great saints, then you really should look at that as a priviledge.

The great St Teresa of Avila went for years through this aridity.

If you read of Mother Theresa’s writings, you will see that she underwent this too. So did the great little St Therese of Lisseux.

We must never forget that the only way to Easter is through Good Friday and Black Saturday.

There are no shortcuts.

And PRAY MUCH while you go through this desert experience. Jesus may be asking you to go through the agony in the garden with Him.

It’s His word in us that the Holy Spirit uses to put us aflame and mature us in the faith
That’s why it is to be hidden in our hearts…It’s our pastors jor to equip us it is our part to mature…

And there are MANY protestants who are better Christians
than MANY Catholics that is for sure!

Most, if not all Catholics, pick and choose and manipulate the
CC system to get what they want.

:o
PS the Catholic Church HAS changed its doctrine.
They used to say people could not eat meat on Friday any Friday of the year.
Now they dont. Except for lenten fridays.
They used to say you couldn’t get divorced…gee, there are a TON of divorced catholics.
and REMARRIED catholics.
The catholic church is on unsteady ground, that is for sure.
and i WILL be leaving.
the mentality of the answers I received on here just cements my decision!
👍
And this is the whole point. You do not remain in the church because Tom is like this or Harry is like that or Dirk is behaving this way.

You remain in the Church becuase she is the church that Christ established on earth. She is the product of Christ’s will.

Then again, you have to decide whether Christ’s will matters to you.

That is all true, but much of that is still through grace.

There is a very beautiful story about Corrie Ten Boom which you probably know about.
When she was faced with the gestapo who persecuted her whilst in a concentration tramp, she found it hard to forgive him. But there in front of her the gestapo stood, hand outstretched asking her to forgive him

Corrie said to Jesus " I can raise my hand, I can do that much. You supply the feeling". And the feeling, the fire came.

In the end, it is not so much about feelings. It is about a faithful following of Christ inspite of the feelings or lack thereof.

Yes I know much about Corrie, I heard her speak in person and read her book…She was very humble and a little hard to understand…Was very new in my faith at the time…Left an impact…Feelings are a funny thing, they can be deceptive, but the kingdom of God has peace and joy…The peace deep abiding…I had a pretty radical conversion experience …I came home and laid in bed joy just overwhelmed me…I didn’t know whether to laugh of cry for 1-2 hrs and finally fell alseep. I felt like a heavy weight was lifted from my shoulder…It was an incredible experience…Iv’e had a few incredible experiences and answeded prayer over the years…
It keeps getting better n better…peace to you…Kim

That is a a beautiful story. I can relate to that even though I cannot relate say that I have had “major” conversion as such. In my case it was the sheer joy of knowing that God loves me inspite of all my sins.

That He is indeed the Hound of Heaven.

I think the way God deals with us is like this:

When we are still a baby in the faith He fills us with much joy, much like the groom wooing the bride. Like little children, we are carried in God’s arms and every now and again He lifts us up to see what it is really like up there.

But every now and again too, He puts us down so that we can learn to walk. In doing so we stumble and all of a sudden we feel so far away from Him. Gone is that euphoria of being cradled and held aloft in His arms. But the stumbling and ennui are all necessary if we are to grow up and learn to walk with Him.

And yes there will be peace. But a peace that is not the world’s peace (an absence of trial and pain) but a a peace in spite of the trial and pain.

Much like Christ’s peace when He was in the boat and there was a storm. He did not need for the sea to be calm to be at peace, because He was so at one with the Father nothing else mattered.

Jesus will not always calm the storm but we can rest easy because He will always be in our boat if we ask Him.
