Sir Knight:
You are wrong. The passage is NOT symbolic because if it were, then when the Apostles showed to Jesus the swords that they had, the Great Teacher, who taught in parables but privately explained everything to his apostles (Mark 4:34), would have explained that He was not speaking of physical swords. But Jesus did not do that. Instead, upon seeing the swords, He told them that it would be sufficient – clearly showing that the passage refered to real swords … Jesus was commanding His followers to purchase WEAPONS!

And what do you do with weapons?
Not all the parables in Scripture came with an expatiation. I will say you are in good company though because at least one of His disciples took Him literally. You seem to be someone who is into self defense, so when one of His disciples made the statement about having two swords and Jesus said that’s enough, do you really think that two swords would be enough to defend all of them? ? Besides what are you trying to do make Jesus out a liar? Jesus tells us in (Matthew 5:43-44) “You have learnt how it was said, you must love your neighbor and hate your enemy, but I say this to you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Now you want to say He goes ahead latter and tells us something different.

You know what I would do with swords (weapons) I would melt them down and make plows out of them. When someone has Jesus they don’t need a weapon.
