Will resurrected bodies be sexual bodies — capable of sexual activity?

If we are going to be like angels, then it seems to me that there will be no need of having internal organs heart, lungs, intestines.
You’re not a ghost for eternity. Your New Body will be a complete functional body that is PERFECT.

People should remember that both Jesus and Mary are healthy humans with bodies.

I think we’ll desire rapture through the beatific vision not sex.
Let’s agree that if there is no sex, then sex won’t be missed. Those who remained virgins for the sake of the Kingdom will not feel as if they’ve missed out on anything!!

I mean I would think it is like finding you have learned to ride a bike without ever going through that stage where you needed the training wheels. There will be physical bliss, there will be perfect unity in charity, there will be the Beatific Vision. We will know and be known completely in an atmosphere without darkness and with perfect harmony. Sexual climax will not be necessary, nor will it be missed.

This might be the best analogy of the thread. I am not taking a steadfast position one way or the other on the main question of this thread, but this analogy is a pretty strong argument IMO.

Was there marriage in Eden?
What about the New Earth that comes after heaven.

Of course we don’t know, but I would think that heaven frees us from our biological and psychological needs and wants, and that would include sex as well as food, sleep, exercise and such, among other human needs and motivations.

They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.
Sure, but that’s prior to His Ascension. Jesus’ eating when he re-appeared to the disciples doesn’t count as an example of what life “seated at the Right Hand of the Father” is like, which is life after ascension.
So that seems to suggest at the end of the world, when the new heaven and new earth is made and we all land back on earth again from heaven like Jesus before his Ascension there will be eating and drinking and so on…

So how will sex be in heaven?

Married people who do end up together in heaven will no longer be married to each other since their vows include “till death do us part”. There will be no marriage in heaven.

What about divorced people or people who never married?

Yes. Good points.

May I add that marriage as it is on earth models to a certain extent the relationship between Jesus and His Church.

Jesus is the Bridegroom, the Church His bride, holy and undefiled, as Scripture mentions.

The Eucharist is not only a memorial or anamnesis of the Last Supper, but the wedding banquet, with Jesus giving Himself to the Bride, His Church. This is why we say “Blessed are we to be invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.” This wedding banquet is a sign of the eternal covenant between Jesus and His Church. Eternal meaning no end and since death has been defeated, it really means eternal.

So the marriage will be between God and His people.

What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him”…(1 Cor. 2:9)

True, He did not say there would not be sex.

But there will be no marriage. So if there is sex, will everybody be committing fornication?

Why would something that in human life is a sin, be part of Heaven?
