No definitely not.
It’s been a slow progression, insidious in fact, when it comes to this technology. It has been a slow enough to not raise alarm. First bar codes and digitizing inventory, for convenience. Now it’s for our own good, these smart cards, to prevent identity theft and so on. I had to replace my bank card today with a new one and it has a chip in it! Passports, driver’s licenses, animals etc. It is so common that we have become desensitized to the implications. You can’t escape these things anymore. At one point you will have to switch over or you will have to go underground, with bartering and trading.

Christians will have to look out for each other and resist the chip. The greatest temptation will be to get these chips so you can feed your family. That is what it is going to look like on the surface. It is far more evil than that. There will be an element of (mind) control as well. It’s not for just for commerce. They will start bringing these in when the economy collapses and money will be worth very little. The chips will be touted as what is needed, and people will be begging for them, that is the sad part about it.

From what I’ve read Jesus has offered hope to the ones that refuse the mark/chip and they will be taken care of. Safe houses will be in place for those who refuse the mark and our good Lord will provide for us. It seems so dark but it is so hopeful when we put Christ in the center and have Him as our guide. Refuse the chip in your body by all means. The choice will come at a time of great upheaval and getting the chip will seem like the right thing to do at that moment. Refuse it!

I might… Yes… I do not believe I would lose my salvation if I do. The number 666 most scholars believe is a numerical representation of the name Nero. The technology to create a chip that would make it imposible to buy or sell without it already exists. I know I very rarely ever carry cash with me now. I use my debit or check card and my pay check is automatically deposited in my account so it’s all pretty done in a cyber world now anyway. I think we need to keep the important part of the second coming first in mind though. Yes there will be a tribulation and an anti-Christ but at the end of it Jesus Christ will return and rule a peaceful, beautiful, recreated world that will be like heaven.

In the Gosples Christ also say that there will be signs that point to the end times and his return. we are also told what those sign will be. I am not say that these are the end times nor am I saying that any one living now is the anti-christ what I am saying is that if it smell like dog do and looks like dog do it is more than likely dog do. beware and be on guard.

All of the prophecies are like that. They sound much more exciting than the real events turn out to be. Fatima was like that, La Salette, daniel’s prophecies about Antiochus Epiphanes, etc. etc.

Also Jesus prophecy about the destruction of the Temple.

So, I guess that you’re expecting Jesus to literally appear wearing a bloodied garment, with white hair and fiery eyes and a sword coming out of His mouth and defeat a literal beast? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

This is where variance arises among ancient commentators.

Some, like St. Bede the Venerable (672/673-735), Oecumenius of Trikka (writing in 990 AD), and Primasius of Hadrumetum (died 560), are of the opinion that the two witnesses represent the Church, which is made of “two races (Jew and gentile) made one” and who “preaches and prophesies on the basis of the two Testaments”. Ticonius the Donatist (flourished late 4th-5th century) also points out that the witnesses symbolize both the Old and New Testaments, by which God governs and rules His Church. In this interpretation, the “beast that comes up from the abyss” killing the two prophets is symbolic of persecution, which causes martyrdom and apostasy. St. Cyprian of Carthage (died 258), meanwhile, explains it as referring to two types of martyrs: those who actually died and those who just suffered hardships (imprisonment, loss of goods, etc.)

Others, such as Oecumenius, here relating “an old traditional saying prevalent in the Church”, and St. Hippolytus (c. 170-c. 236), are of the opinion that the two also are literal persons and both prophets of old: Enoch and Elijah, who are both taken up to heaven while still alive. Some variations on this has John the Apostle coming with them, on basis of John 21:23 (so an anonymous author writing in St. Hippolytus’ name) or - so St. Victorinus of Pettau (died 303 or 304) - has Jeremiah in place of Enoch, simply because we never hear of Jeremiah’s death in the Bible, and because, in Victorinus’ opinion, God’s statement that He appointed Jeremiah to be a “prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5) need to be fulfilled.

Now as for the Beast. St. Victorinus already points out the reference to Nero with the fatal wound that was healed - Nero died with a self-inflicted wound to the throat, aided by his private secretary; eventually legends circulated that Nero would either rise up again or did not really die, but was in hiding. This belief was so popular that it sparked pretenders claiming to be Nero* and St. Augustine relates the legend as still being widespread in his time (5th century AD). Now the “beast” does not just signify Nero; a single passage can have layers of meaning. It is applicable to Nero or to other persecutors as it is applicable to the Antichrist.

Hi everyone, I have a question.On other threads on this Catholic Forum, it’s been said over and over that since Peter was given the keys to establishing the church. With that authority came, via the Holt Spirit, the authentic interpretation of Scripture by the Magisterium.(Catholic Catechism of the Catholic Church # 85) No personal interpretation allowed which resulted in more than 30,000 church denominations. With all this in mind, What is the authentic and official interpretation of the book Revelation. Such as; is the mark of the beast physical or mental? Is the beast Nero? Is there going to be a 1,000 year reign of Christ,or is it going on now? If so, is satan now being chained and has no influence on people? Etc. etc. ED O.
