Will you criticize your priest?

Yes, being an officer in one of the Church organizations, I was required to take this course regarding protection of children and such…at my age, a slight resentment came over me!

Will you criticize your priest? Well, I feel like I do not have the right to criticize his homily, however, we acquired a young priest recently…everything started to change to my dismay. We are a small parish and finances are a concern. He seem to be in an unstoppable spending spree! He had a security camera system installed which probably was very costly. More attention is focused on the church school than needed repair to our old church. This has effected me so much that I no longer liked going to Mass there. I prayed about it and decided to change parishes…I feel more at peace but now I will have to make a decision on my position as officer in the organization…I have one more year to serve, but I did not sign a contract and will probably resign. My disappointment in the handling of the financial affairs of this church is justified because I contributed to the restoration the old church. The age of a priest is an important factor on the success of a parish.

For a homily, no I wouldn’t be critical. Not everyone has good speaking skills.
There was a homily once that I know some (many?) were critical of last year, but I don’t know if it ever made it back to him. It had nothing to do with speaking skills or theology.

Hey kindness sorry to hear about your work situation. I’ve been in situations like that before where the increased criticism causes mistakes. That’s no fun. Honestly sounds like an environment you probably wouldn’t want to be a part of tbh.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have worked in a few fairly abusive situations in a row, so am praying for something better and doing more due diligence where possible to research work cultures
