No, it’s an Anglican cathedral (Lincoln, if I remember rightly). Although the nuns who were protesting were Catholic, I believe. That may be what confused you (since you’d think that they would be protesting their own church being used–but then of course English Catholics believe with good reason that all the great medieval cathedrals belong to them by right . . . . )

Thanks for the clarification… That is a little easier to accept, but not much!

Although the more serious question we should be asking is how our sins and errors have led so many people in our culture to distrust historic Christianity so deeply.
True!

I’ve never read the book, and the teaser trailer for the movie actually looks good. And I love Hans Zimmer’s music. But I guess the reason we should not like this kind of fiction is that it encourages people to turn away from the truth. Unfortunately many people think they know what’s best for themself, and thus think the Church is just after power 😦 and they like to disagree with it for that reason.

For the money you’re going to waste on the movie, buy a good book about or written by St. Josemaria Escriva!

I will see the movie as soon as it comes out, for the same reason that I read the book: to be able to denounce firsthand any bits of anti-Catholicism and keep track of what Hollywood is doing. Supposedly the movie will be significantly toned down from the book because of fear at alienating a broad audience; remember that Hollywood’s first and final goal is to make money! Forgot to add that I thought the novel was poorly written and unrealistic aside from the anti-Christian bias.

Nooo way!!! I’m strongly opposed to that book.:banghead: Instead,I’m looking forward The exorcism of Emily Rose.🙂
