Nice to see you too Coptic.Let us not forget the agenda of the licensed professionals trying to propagate that the DSM was changed by science and not by vote…now there is a conspiracy if you want one…

The story of how the American Psychiatric Association decided in 1973 that homosexuality was no longer a mental illness.
Ringil,Nice to see you too Coptic.![]()
Buffalo,How is it we are discussing terminology rather than the real issue?![]()
Bufallo,
Personality disorder, previously called a characterological disorder, is a category of mental illness characterized by rigid and on-going patterns of thought and action, sometimes referred to as “fixed fantasies”. As a result of the inflexibility and pervasiveness of these patterns, serious personal and social problems, as well as a general impairment of functioning for the afflicted individual, are possible.
A personality disorder is specifically defined by the American Psychiatric Association as “an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.” [1] These patterns are, as noted, inflexible and pervasive across many situations, due in large part to the fact that such behavior is ego-syntonic (i.e., the pattern(s) is/are consistent with the ego integrity of the individual), and perceived to be appropriate by that individual. The onset of these patterns can typically be traced back to early adulthood, and, in rare instances, early adolescence. To be diagnosed with a clinical disorder of any kind, a person’s pattern of behavior must cause significant distress, or impairment in personal, social, and/or occupational situations.
I have not seen much discussion of Homosexuality as a Characterologic disorder…The DSM-IV-TR, a compendium of psychiatric and medically co-occurring disorders published by the American Psychiatric Association, lists ten personality disorders, grouped into three clusters, as well as a category for symptom profiles that do not match any of these ten disorders specifically, but nevertheless have the characteristics of a personality disorder. This last category is labeled Personality Disorder NOS (i.e., Not Otherwise Specified).
Isn’t that the point he was making in the videos?I have not seen much discussion of Homosexuality as a Characterologic disorder…
That’s exactly what I’m getting at. You are making this about people, not principles. Those that have to resort to character attacks (e.g. homomafia) have already lost the battle. You will not gain credibility being uncharitable. One group refers to the Church founded by Christ. One group refers to political agitators that further an immoral agenda.
Hey, them’s the breaks. When you attack people instead of sin, don’t be surprised. How is it we are discussing terminology rather than the real issue?![]()
Huh?Hey, them’s the breaks. When you attack people instead of sin, don’t be surprised.
Calling someone a member of the “homomafia” (an organization that doesn’t actually exist, and a hyperbolic and demeaning reference) = a personal attack.Huh?
If I did that everyone would be laughing.Calling someone a member of the “homomafia” (an organization that doesn’t actually exist, and a hyperbolic and demeaning reference) = a personal attack.
I should think that was rather obvious.
If this still confuses you, here’s a good scientific experiment that you can test out: go walk down the street and start accusing people of being in the mafia. See how they react. If no one gets offended by such a label, you will have disproven my hypothesis.![]()
It is about ideology. You cannot compare unequal items and draw correct conclusions. To label an ideology like homoheresy as equal to the Catholic Church is unreasonable. That’s exactly what I’m getting at. You are making this about people, not principles. Those that have to resort to character attacks (e.g. homomafia) have already lost the battle. You will not gain credibility being uncharitable.
The names may have been furnished to the Vatican.Continuing my thoughts from this post:
The failure to substantiate charges of conspiracy and heresy by not naming names and specifying activities is, IMO, a grave moral injustice to at least two classes of people.
It is a moral injustice to those members of flocks who might led by such alleged conspirators and heretics. If they aren’t informed that their shepherd is corrupted, aren’t those members’ souls being put in continual jeopardy?
It is a moral injustice to those SSAed members of the church who are not, were not and would not be part of this alleged conspiracy and heresy, but who may be tarred with the same brush nonetheless.
If this is real heresy, then those alleging it would seem to me to have a moral obligation to put up or shut up.
You have to separate issues and understand the theology of order. It is one thing to interact with your next door neighbor in a way that is friendly without affirming their sin and it is quite another thing to defend Christian doctrine in the arena of ideas against those who exist to dismantle society. One size does not fit all. One way of interacting does not fit all.Too ften think we worry to much about such issues. I think we must lift our concerns into the hands of Christ and let the will of God reign. I think we are only called to be about the work of of our Father. Seems that often, as christians, we throw rocks and cast judgements rather than loving others - our true calling. It is God who makes the transformations within the heart of men/women - it is an act of grace. You know the God loves all equally, both the righteous and unrighteous. If we want to be a vessel of Christ’s healing we need to be inclusive, loving, friendly and allow God to be God…we need not hurl anything at homosexuals or any other group…we need only love. I think early christians were attracted to christianity because of the love they saw and felt.
Many years ago, we had a priest which everyone in our prayer group disliked. We all judged and ran him down. Finally, and older man taught we need only love him and include him. This older man became friends with the priest. Wow, what a transformation. The Priest was transformed and renewed. The power of love…come to think of it: God is Love.
Then until the Vatican acts, might it not be considered irresponsible for others to allege conspiracies and heresies that may not even exist? The names may have been furnished to the Vatican.
This was a leaked document as I understand it.Then until the Vatican acts, might it not be considered irresponsible for others to allege conspiracies and heresies that may not even exist?
I’m not addressing the way the church performed in 2000 in response to proven charges. I’m addressing the actions of individual agents today who are promoting theories of conspiracy and alleging heresies that may not even exist. This was a leaked document as I understand it.
When the homosexual priest scandal was made public around 2000 the Church was roundly criticized for trying to prevent scandal and solve it within (which is Catholic teaching by the way).
She cannot win either way it seems.
