Generalities and bare assertions rule.

I’m sure this is the “where the murderer and the former police chief exchange pleasantries via email about another similar case where an innocent homeless man is beaten but the person who beats him, the son of a police lieutenant, receives no charges” referenced, but unfortunately, does more to show race as ABSOLUTELY NO motivating factor in this case:

Hmmm. Not exactly what I would call “pleasantries” unless all public lambastings for a coverup and gross negligence are considered “pleasant”
Riiiight…so to pay him back for embarrassing them, they covered up his cold-blooded murder of Treyvon Martin.

For some reason I am having trouble connecting these dots.

What do you think of Pete Sarna?
**Pete Sarna, Oakland School District’s Top Cop, Suspended For Racial Slur (UPDATED) **Update: In response to the controversy surrounding his remarks, Sarna has announced his retirement.
Pete Sarna, the chief of the Oakland Unified School District’s police department, has been placed on paid administrative leave while district officials look into allegations that he repeatedly used racial slurs against African American and Asian American officers after a day of drinking at a charity golf tournament
.
As the group was headed home afterward through the Caldecott Tunnel, [the complainant’s attorney Joe] O’Sullivan said, Sarna [who is white] turned to an African American sergeant and began cursing him, saying no blacks should be allowed to live in Orinda and that “the only good n- is a dead n- and they should hang you in the town square to prevent any other n- from coming in the area.” … The attorney said the outbursts continued when they reached a white sergeant’s home in Lafayette, where Sarna allegedly directed insults at his colleague’s children. He let loose with more slurs at an Asian American officer as he was being driven to his home, O’Sullivan said.
The other officers in the car were appalled by Sarna’s behavior and filed a formal complaint against him. When word of the complaint got back to Sarna, he allegedly tried to quash the investigation. “He acted like a mafia guy and isolated the African American [officer],” O’Sullivan told ABC 7, “[and] told him nothing had happened, never happened, and there’s been subtle intimidation.”
This is not the first time Sarna has gotten in trouble after a night of drinking. The Oakland Tribune reports:
Code:
Sarna was a lieutenant in the Oakland Police Department when he was tapped by then Attorney General Jerry Brown in December 2007 to become deputy director of the state Department of Justice Division of Law Enforcement, where he commanded a 1,300-strong force. But Sarna resigned in August 2007 after he crashed his state vehicle in Walnut Creek and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.**
Sarna, whose wife is African American, was hired by to run the Oakland School Distrcit’s police department in 2009 and is widely seen as an innovator willing to directly engage with the Oakland community. He organized a summer program for Oakland youth put on by the department where he organized volunteers to build play structures, sports fields and a rock climbing walls.
Sarna also instituted a system where students could send anonymous text messages to police about dangerous or illegal activities going on at school without fear of getting in trouble themselves.**

Zimmerman and Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee exchanged emails long before the incident occurred.
In the weeks immediately following Trayvon Martin’s death Sanford Police maintained they had no idea who Zimmerman was; however, a video surfaced of a January 2011 city hall forum in which Zimmerman publicly lambasted the “lazy” work of Sanford police officers and claimed to have gone on ridealongs in police squad cars. Today’s evidence also released a short email exchange between Zimmerman and former Sanford police chief Bill Lee, in which Zimmerman told Lee that a helpful officer had “restored [his] faith” in the Sanford police department. Lee was fired June 20th amid accusations the police had botched their handling of Martin’s death.

“Short email exchange”? Mein Gott, they’re in collusion to cover up this obvious racist murder! I’m sure they were drinking Heineckens in Lee’s hot tub (as Zimmerman was in hiding at Lee’s), and played Twister into the wee hours of the morning!.

Occam’s razor would suggest a police chief has contact with ALOT of civillians. I’m not sure why these few isolated incidents with Zimmerman would suggest the collusion you allude to. Unless, of course, no one else criticized the police in the town hall, or Lee never received email from anyone other than Zimmerman.

You questioned if they had really exchanged pleasantries and implied that because Zimmerman had once criticized the police department, they were on bad terms. They had.
In the height of the national outrage over the shooting of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman hid out for over a month in nearby Lake Mary at the home of a federal law-enforcement agent - a former Seminole County Sheriff deputy who was pressured to quit after he was duped by a con artist and violated department policy.
He was the friend who taught Zimmerman how to shoot, and whose wife presided over Zimmerman’s wedding. As lesser acquaintances granted television interview after television interview, Mark Osterman never showed his face even as he offered shelter to a friend in need who at one point was one of the most controversial people in America.
In the summary of the friend’s interview with the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement released Thursday by the Duval County state attorney, the name and occupation is blacked out. But one document in the 300 pages identifies him as a U.S. air marshal, and the interview he gave provides enough detail about the relationship to confirm his identity.
He told authorities that his wife presided over Zimmerman’s wedding. Zimmerman’s wedding certificate lists Sondra Osterman as the person who presided over the ceremony. Sondra Osterman’s Facebook profile shows she’s married to Mark, who says he travels for a living and works for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Among his Facebook likes: “Support George Zimmerman.”
Reached Friday morning by The Miami Herald, he declined to be interviewed. “No thanks,” he said, before hanging up.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security could not immediately confirm his employment.
Osterman, 44, met Zimmerman around 2006, through his wife, Sondra, who worked with Zimmerman at a mortgage-services company. Zimmerman was a loan originator; Sondra Osterman a loan processor. They later worked together at a different company, Digital Risk.
In his interview with the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Mark Osterman said he visited Zimmerman’s house some 50 times. The two men went shooting together about once a month, often to Gander Mountain shooting range, he said.
“He described Zimmerman as a person of strong character, but not very street wise,” the report states. “He has never known Zimmerman to be in a fist fight. Zimmerman stays in casual contact with a lot of people, but is not known to have any other close friends.”
Osterman described Zimmerman as frugal and organized. Osterman hosted a graduation party for Zimmerman when he completed his associate’s degree at Seminole State College. The report makes note that Osterman “did not see the diploma.”
Zimmerman was actually just a course or two shy from graduating, and was expelled from the school when the shooting scandal exploded.
Osterman said Zimmerman doesn’t do drugs or have racist friends.
The record shows Osterman went to the crime scene the night Trayvon was killed, and also accompanied Zimmerman to his police interrogations. He was present for Zimmerman’s video walk-through of the shooting scene with police, and went to Zimmerman’s third interview with Sanford Det. Chris Serino.
“During his conversations with Zimmerman, Zimmerman never asked… what not to say during his interviews with the police,” the interview summary said. Osterman “stated Zimmerman did not understand the process and his only advice to Zimmerman was to tell the truth.”
Six weeks after the Feb. 26 killing, Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder.
On April 26, agents paid Osterman a visit.
The FBI and FDLE record shows the agents asked Osterman whether he knew whether Zimmerman had researched Angela Corey, the special prosecutor assigned to investigate him. Osterman said he did not know.
Osterman detailed Zimmerman’s account of the attack he said he endured from Trayvon that led to the shooting, and offered glimpses of his friend’s personal life. He told authorities that Zimmerman’s mother was strict and hit him “all the time.” Zimmerman’s father did not stick up for the kids when the mother abused them, and the family had been estranged just prior to the shooting, he said.
In Zimmerman’s family, he is closest to his sister, Osterman said.
After the shooting Zimmerman fled his home, after getting death threats and organizations like the New Black Panther Party put a bounty on his head.
As tempers flared nationwide, Zimmerman hid at Osterman’s home for as long as six weeks, according to Osterman’s interview with the FBI and the FDLE.

Zimmerman didn’t hide out at Lees. As mentioned before, it was the “the former sheriff/federal agent” (Osterman) who hid Zimmerman for six weeks in his house.

This has absolutely no bearing on the case.

Osterman was a Seminole County Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to patrol and a school resource officer for six years.
He lost that job in 1998, when he and another colleague were fooled by con man Juan Diaz, who told the two cops that he was a second baseman for the New York Yankees and needed bodyguards. Diaz drove an expensive sports car, went to strip clubs and flashed money around — with the two officers in tow, according to 1998 news reports…

Just so we can be clear: A personal friend of the suspect who met him 6 years prior to the incident, and who was a Duputy Sheriff (not a "sheriff) 8 years prior to that (total now is 14 years) has a bearing on the case…

how?

Zimmerman’s Police Inside Connection Has Been Revealed: A Former Cop Coached Him on What to Say

The public has often wondered how George Zimmerman was able to escape prosecution for his crimes in the past. There seemed to be a connection that he had inside the Sanford police department that kept him safe from the consequences of his poor choices. Some thought that it was his father, the retired judge. It turns out that it may be deeper than that.
Zimmerman, who shot Trayvon Martin after seeing him to be a suspicious looking black male, was allowed to evade arrest and remain free for 44 days after the initial incident. New evidence is showing that the early decision not to charge Zimmerman was the result of scripted coaching he received from someone inside the Sanford Police Department.
Documents from the FBI and Florida Department of Law Enforcement are claiming that a strong Zimmerman supporter throughout the case might have been Mark Osterman, a federal agent and former Seminole County Sheriff’s deputy. Osterman was with Zimmerman as they returned to the scnee of the crime to determine what happened on the previous day.
The Herald has reported that Zimmerman and Osterman often went shooting together, and that Zimmerman even hid in Osterman’s house as the publicity from the case shot through the national media.
Previously, some had wondered if Zimmerman was getting inside help from Seminole State Attorney Norm Wolfinger, who released Zimmerman initially. Wolfinger was removed from the case when a special prosecutor was assigned to handle the rest of the process.
There was also an interesting email between between Zimmerman and former Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee. The two exchanged pleasantries about a case in which a homeless black man was beaten by the son of a police lieutenant. The lieutenant’s son was never charged for the beating.
“Zimmerman is very concerned with all the negative reaction from the press and others and wants more evidence released to show what really happened,” Osterman told the FBI.
Of course, Osterman is denying that he ever gave Zimmerman advice. But we didn’t exactly expect a confession.

This is a freaking BLOG.

Is Ostermann a personal friend of Zimmerman’s? Apparently, it is established fact (form actual news sources). Has Ostermann provided advice to his personal friend? More than likely. Actual news sources speculate.

Then you blog delves into tinfoil hat land.
New evidence is showing that the early decision not to charge Zimmerman was the result of scripted coaching he received from someone inside the Sanford Police Department.
What evidence would that be? That he had a friend? Who was a cop? Who gave him advice?

Oh the humanity!

I don’t see anything substantive drawing a parallel between no charge = direct result of “scripted coaching” (also known as “advice”).

With “sources” like these, it’s no wonder that some might have a biased view.

I loved your direct quote:

You aren’t a “worthless, tea party klan” member, or a “racist cracker,” or a “winter monkey,” are you? (I’d never heard that last one…)

Enlightened readership indeed. 😛

Zimmerman says he’s sorry Trayvon Martin’s family had to bury their child; family calls apology insincere
George Zimmerman, in an interview Wednesday with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, called the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin a “tragic situation” and “the most difficult thing I’ll ever go through in my life.”
During the interview with Hannity, Zimmerman said he followed Martin because he looked suspicious running between houses in the rain.
Martin turned to confront Zimmerman and “asked me what my problem was” before the exchange escalated into violence, Zimmerman told Hannity in his first TV interview, conducted in an undisclosed location in Florida. The 28-year-old, with his attorney sitting by his side, said he reached into his pocket to find his phone to call 911 for a second time, and “I looked up and he punched me and broke my nose.”
At one point Zimmerman said he heard Martin “telling me he’s going to kill me.”

The confounding thing for the people who are trying to color Zimmerman as a man of ill-repute is that his retelling of the story has remained remarkably consistent since day 1.

“I feel that it was all God’s plan, and for me to second guess it or judge it,” Zimmerman shook his head.
I don’t know why that would be shocking.

If we are to acknowledge God as the omnipotent all that he is, and acknowledge that he has a plan, then we have to acknowledge that the good and the bad that may happen God has worked out to his ultimate glory.

Whenever we are being crushed by circumstance, the example of Job is where we should turn to for our response.

I must say, after watching the interview with Hannity last night that Zimmerman did…I believe the guy. Maybe I’m naive, but I believe him.
