She probably can identify where he lived and what the inside of his home looked like.

A number of republicans are asking for him to drop out. While another bunch of republicans are still standing by him, using cockamamie excuses on why it wasn’t “wrong” by citing Mary and Joseph.

😖 🤢

I believe the women. I do not believe Roy Moore. The GOP leadership should insist that Moore withdraw his candidacy.

If you wouldn’t hire someone as a babysitter, you can’t support their candidacy for US Senate. Full stop.

Perhaps, but I also believe in Presumption of innocence, and I felt the same for the Seattle mayor.
A 30 or 40 year time lag is so difficult.

He probably should step aside

Yes it’s odd.

The defense isn’t that he didn’t do it, but that it isn’t so bad because of the Holy Family.

That is wrong on so many levels, and practically blasphemous. St Joseph is the terror of demons, and should not be used to defend child molestation. Our Lady is the Queen of the angels. St Joseph was the protector of God incarnate.

How dare this man compare that to a grown man hitting on a girl while her mother was in a custody hearing, and then molesting her in his home.

It should be noted that it’s not Moore who is proposing this defense. Moore is denying all the allegations.

Innocent until proven guilty is for criminal convictions, not elections. I believe Leigh Corfman. Her account is too serious to ignore. Moore is unfit for office and should step aside.

I was responding to a poster who said he believed Corfman, not Moore. I also said he should probably step aside, a part of my post that you conveniently left out.

I thought that Romney’s post juxtaposed against yours was interesting. Not that he was right.

I think that there has to be some settling of what is known and what is mere news and pundit frenzy before developing an opinion, as a voter, on the likelihood of his guilt or innocence and his suitability for office in light of the behavior in question. I expect the Republicans to prioritize winning the seat, over fairness to Moore: such is party politics.

I don’t think Romney’s view and mine differ all that much.
As for prioritizing, the Democrats did the same in Seattle. Not a criticism, just a recognition. My biggest fear that this will become a tactic: 40 years ago he did this. Almost impossible to defend, whether true or not, particularly in the current climate

I think one of the things we’re seeing with Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein is that sexual predators typically don’t stop until they get caught and have to. Both these men have decades long histories of sexual abuse. With Moore, all the allegations are from nearly 4 decades ago, and impossible to verify and then nothing afterwards. This looks like a political hit job more than anything else and, unless some allegations come forward that are able to be verified, I think this could serve to solidify Moore’s support in Alabama. I wonder who put this information out there and why they did it so long before the special election. It seems a Democrat would have waited until the weekend before the election for maximum impact and minimum time to respond. By putting it out a month before the election there’s plenty of time for it to blow over. I wonder if this was put out by a Republican source in order to get Moore off the ballot and have time to put a more Republican Establishment friendly candidate on.

Winning the seat means supporting Moore. If he withdraws Jones will win the election. A reporter called all of the Republican county chairs in Alabama and while several gave no comment most of them said they would still vote for him if the allegations of child molestation were true.

A Strange write-in campaign similarly will give the election to Jones. If Republicans want the seat, and Alabama Republican officials certainly do, they’re going to support and vote for Moore.

Even if Moore drops out, he could still win the election on points (votes), because it is too late to remove his name from the ballot.

What teenagers was BC allegedly involved with?
What similar allegations were brought by complainants against BC prior to his election to the Presidency?
