I don`t like polka either, but at least polka does not influence young people in a negative way like gangsta rap or metal.

You managed to find a saving grace for this genre! Another is it keeps little old ladies and gents off the streets.

Those that enjoy modern Polka age from 1 year old to death. It is happy music and I am not surprised you burst out laughing. It can do that to you. Modern hard driving amplified Polka has no place at Mass, that I agree with.

The only thing that makes it fun is dancing to it, if you know how.

As for having it for Mass, I completely agree–it is totally inappropriate. Imagine singing the Hail Mary like this:

Haaaaaiiiil Ma–ree, full…of…grace. Bumpa, bam-pa!

Gives me the shivers just to think of it!

I am not even a country guy at all, my favorite is “progressive” rock, but my wife got me into country through guys like Brad Paisley and if you listen to people like him you will find that your comment is just silly and a little predjudiced.

Come on! I don`t like most country music either, but what I really dislike are stereotypes.

Hey, this is just my experience. Other may have different experiences, like wearing fish-net tank tops, loosing teeth, or an overwhelming desire to buy a pickup truck.:tiphat:

Which means you have to know how to play the original instruments to be able to play the digital versions. Hip-hop and rap artists are no-talent clowns. They don’t play their own instruments, don’t write the songs, etc. They sample other artists work.

I’ve never cared for rap but I don’t think this is true. I work with a guy who has a local rap band and they put a lot of work into and I think their pretty talanted (even though I don’t like that kind of music).

I am NOT getting on in years, but I’ll vote for rap, too. Techo is as bad in my book. I’ll listen to anything but those 2.

ok so u think cuz u can opertate a conputerized instrument ur good? sorry but I like piano better. Wouldn’t ya think if Mozart wuz alive he would have trouble with a Roland keyboard. And besides the fact I play guitar which is so much harder to play. Which do ya think is easier a Van Halen solo or a Yanni solo.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT? RAPPERS DON’T WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS? WHERE ARE YOU GETTIN THIS STUFF? Eminem writes, produces and plays music. Same goes with a bunch of gospel rappers ex: Paul Wright, Mat Kearny, tobyMac. Do you think rappers just come up with songs without music? Sorry but FYI they write lyrics to beats and music same as rock artists.

Ok I got this program to record guitar on my computer but you can also make hip hop and dance beats. And let me get something straight it was a lot harder to make hip hop beats than a techno one. I made a techno one, a basic one or so I thought, until I heard some techno songs and realized it repeats itself. In the beginning they mostly all start out with the same beat and differs when the song progresses. It was then when I realized if I played my song on the radio people would not notice it was made it ten minutes.

There are clever rap artists. A friend’s son is starting a career as a rapper, and while I don’t personally enjoy his stuff, it tends towards harsh spoken-word poetry. Most of it is terrible, but there are some interesting, mostly non-coporate rappers whose music doesn’t make you want to spike your eardrums.

Has anyone else ever listened to EBM or industrial? I like both genres, but many bands tend towards extremely crude, sacriligious, and lots of noise. And they’re usually techno. Techno’s a pretty broad term that covers disco through Moby and Gorillaz, Delirium, all the way out to Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy.

I’ve constructed my own category–I call it gutter rap. It may have a beat and incidentally tell a story…but mostly it exploits, defiles and stereotypes the poor–and all too often those of color; sexualizes and glamorizes violence while simulatneously debasing sexuality with its aggressive, animalistic depictions; glorifies money and all that symbolizes materialism and is produced for the sole purpose of garnering attention and wealth for the performer(s)/and his record label.

Both are equally as hard.
