I say 2.0 because I made a thread back in 2015 on this topic and it closed. Surely new abominations have emerged in the two years since.

Worst song(s) you've ever heard Popular Media
Royals by Lorde…how I loath that song. I don’t want to go to rehab. Singer shoud have gone or she might be alive today but thats another topic.
My responses are the same, except I would like to add “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon. I am not the kind of person to hate something because it is popular, but I hate this one and the 1+ years it walk played everywhere were dark times.

Some version of “have yourself a merry little Christmas” they kept playing this year where the woman sang off key and sounded so depressed that she just came across as trying to share her misery with others.

I couldn’t stop laughing listening to that. I’m not sure whether it was humor laughter or nervous laughter, though.

The shaggs were a band created by their dad who went to a fortune teller and the fortune teller said his daughters would be great musicians. So he bought his kids instruments and studio time but they never even touched instruments before. So they sounded like crap lol

I thought they were each confused on what song they were supposed to be playing.

Everything on Hits radio today. It’s become so bad any “hit” songs actually cause me distress. This wasn’t the case back in the 80s and 90s.

I’m in love with your booody…
Loook, whatcha made me dooo…whatcha made me dooo…

barf

I should also add “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift. It is predictable, lazy, and repetitive. So many rhymes are forced between words that don’t actually rhyme. And it doesn’t even hint at what the guy in the breakup song actually did: just a bunch of bad-sounded words and phrases that don’t add up to anything coherent.

I’ve listened to that song once when it came onto the radio. I actually switched channels because it was so bad.

Ridiculous songs of the 70s, like “Kid Charlemagne” - (is there gas in the car? Yes there’s gas in the car!) Or “Take the Money and Run” - Billy Mack is a sheriff down in Texas… makes his living off of other people’s taxes. I’m showing my age.

Don’t kno the names, but iget treated to em in J-BOX & McDons

“When your’re ready, come & get it”

Incomplete post accident
Another: “LOVE SHACK, LOVE SHACK, Where we can get together”

“get down on it”

I call em Forno songs

I’m thinking many of us have songs that were popular, but for some reason we couldn’t stand them. One of those for me was Beast of Burden by the Rolling Stones. I turn it off as soon as I hear the first notes. For my brother, it was Killing Me Softly by Roberta Flack (also showing my age).

I’d rather think of my favourite songs… when I was a boy. What was better than the Beatles, or the Supremes, Jimmy Ruffin, and so on?

I actually like most of the stuff mentioned on here so far.

Funny thing about “Beast of Burden”: I hated it when I was young, but it came on the radio the other day and I was thinking “what a great song this is.” I think some songs are more for middle-aged people and I can definitely relate more to the lyrics as a middle-aged person than I could as a young teen.

I can tell you one thing I truly hate no matter what song it is in: The “Millennial Whoop”. As a musical element I just detest it. Apparently young people in recent years have found it so appealing it has been included on purpose in a bunch of songs. (If you don’t know what I mean, feel free to search Youtube for “Millennial Whoop” and some videos of it will come up.)

“I shot the sheriff.” I never listened past that, always changed the station.

I have heard songs now that I heard when I was younger and thought wow, that’s what that song was about? 😳

That’s one of the nicer things his music has been described as.
